1.9 TDI Gets BIG Injectors! It Rips!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI, engine code ALH big injectors install! These .280mm injectors paired with a GTB1756VK turbo, front mount intercooler and an in tank fuel pump should bump us up to around 220 whp! An insane jump from the factory 90 hp output, which would more than DOUBLE the horsepower!!

Man... I killed my injection pump by my own mistake when I installed a set of bigger Injectors on my mk4 jetta.. Glad to see someone do it and not murder their vehicle in the process XD. If you love vw diesels I will say the new common rails are amazing once you delete and tune them. I have a 2012 passat and she rips! I can still pull off 48 mpg on the highway which is pretty close to what my old 1.9 could do

For this engine 0.280 make no sens. 0.216 is the Best choice and make 200hp+ for more power you need another engine like ARL and Will be cheap beacause you need only bigger turbo and chip tuning for 230hp. Why?? ARL have stronger engine block and all parts inside from factory.

Very cool build! TDI's have a come a very long way since I started modifying mine over 20 years ago. Back then you really only had 2 choices for chips and only a VNT17 for a "big" turbo. One day I'll get back to work on mine. The turbo shaft warped on it about 8 years ago and haven't touched it since. It was a Kerma sourced 1856SV. Going bigger since technology is so much better on turbos now.

Also, whoever you get your injectors from make sure they pop test and balance them. You’ll also need a nice tune. The key with these engines is not bringing in the power too early to keep the rods from snapping. You can get a budget GTB turbo kit from Darkside if you don’t want to spend the extra for easily swapping the turbo for something else down the road

Yeah! It’s pretty amazing haha. The MPG increase is probably due to the new injectors. The stock ones had 300k on them so I’m sure the spray pattern wasn’t very efficient. Stay tuned!

Hey forgot to ask what are you using for tuning? And do you know what torque numbers your running?

  • @GasHouseGarage

Not sure about the torque as the tune has a torque limiter for the stock clutch. This setup should be good for around 200whp and 325-350lb/ft. The injectors are good for around 250whp, so the turbo is the limiting factor after the clutch. Tekmektronics is who we will be using for the updated tune after the clutch

That is totally up to you! We never got the PD150 in the states, I believe the highest output PD’s came in Passats here but those were 2.0L BHW’s at 134hp. Golfs and Jetta’s were PD100’s. Don’t be too shy of the VE engines. Our tuner is making around 320whp in his daily VE TDI with large single. I wouldn’t run much more than 200-250whp on a VE without lowering the compression a bit though

You could try reducing fueling at lower RPM’s with a little bit more boost without raising exhaust back pressure too much. This might clear up some smoke down low. Another thing to check is piping. There was a noticeable difference in smoke when we went with larger turbo inlet and outlet piping. The 90hp VE stock piping is very small though
