This Yacht is for Sale: bit.ly/3f2TR2L
We get to Sea Trial "BEOWULF" - one of the most iconic Yachts in Marina del Rey, CA. I have been dying to get on board of this 1998 CUSTOM DASHEW KELLY ARCHER WORLD CRUISER for as long as we have lived in MDR. Oh, this one is VERY special: tons of unique features and your “tech geek souls ” are going to be very satisfied 🙌🏻
I was impressed by… everything! 😝 The Bad Ass and Rugged Exterior is perfectly contrasted by a luxurious and spacious interior and the woodwork is absolutely stunning. The layout is very unusual and practical. The storage is off the Charts! The pilothouse is comfy and useful. But make sure you stay all the way till the end to check out her performance under not 2, not 3, but 4 sails!!! And did I mention 2 code zeros???!! 🙌🏻 And don’t miss the OUTTAKES 😝🤣 Enjoy the Tour!
This Sailing Explorer Yacht is currently listed for sale for $1,750,000.

She's certainly a nice looking craft. She makes good time over the sea,.. not exactly a single-hander though, is she? She looks like she takes an extra hand or two to operate. My other apprehension would be the She'snot that old, 'n' the people are selling her already?... why?

If you really want to understand this boat watch the video that the Dashews' put out about it. It includes a trip from the south Pacific to San Diego where they averaged well over 200 miles a day. This is an interesting boat, but is very system heavy. They have backups for nearly everything, but you could be dead in the water if there was a major system failure. This boat was sailed by Steve and Linda as a couple, but if they had a system failure it would be nearly impossible for them to sail the boat manually.

Dashew is a genius. And Beowulf is the epitome of sailboat perfection. All no-nonsense business on the outside, beautiful and comfortable on the inside. And she was built over 20 years ago. If you have the opportunity, I think you'd love Dashew's FPB series. I think FPB Iceberg is currently for sale. If you liked Beowulf, the FPBs are next level. They stopped manufacturing them a few years back, however, so those remaining are almost collector's items. Thanks for taking us aboard Beowulf! What a dream boat. You can tell from the video she's just itching to get into the blue and chew up some miles.

All I can say is "Damn!" As an experienced rag sailer, seeing that beauty running with only one jib aloft and a trimmed prop at 10 knots is remarkable! My experience with a boat that size wasn't trimmed out like this and didn't run a quickly oR as stable! Most of the boats I sailed were 27' Catalinas and bigger Solengen racers. Totally separate in style and technique to sail. 80' plus sailboats are extreme in comfort but this Lady of the Seas is the top of the pile! THANK YOU! You caused me to remember all my hours of sailing experience with this video!

Beowulf looks modest on the outside but on the inside oh wow 😮. Beowulf ( despite the male name) is a real Lady Explorer of the Sea, world class design of the sails and boat. I'm going to say this again a world class design of the interior. It's the kind of boat that is important to the history of sailing yacht design never to be replaced by the one and only Steve Dashew. Thank you for this introduction to Beowulf.😅

Few vessels live up to their names ......this one does and its truly an Epic. I'd seen pictures and i had heard the Dashews talk about the vessel and the evolution of their subsequent motor vessels. I had never thought what the interior would be like.🤩 😎Worthy of a Chieftain .... and you know it can handle just about anything with minimal fuss. 🌊⛵ Thank you both 😉🇬🇧 Ive seen a couple of vessels with those prop systems one was a Dutch steel built motor sailer from memory.

Oh yes, please!! The folks at Berthon do some walkthroughs themselves, which is how I discovered the FPB in the first place, but it's different to have someone go through it who isn't selling the boat. Even though I know you don't say negative things about the boats you tour (and there's precious little reason with the FPBs anyway; they're magnificent), there's a kind of outsider's eye view that's great to get about boats you can't see for yourself, very different from the salesperson's.

I've actually got two outboard water tanks (700L each) on my 46' ketch and a "polishing" system to move (and filter) water between them. Any time I'm planning to go to wind for any significant distance, I transfer all of my water to the windward tank, and it makes a huge difference (probably 5-10 degrees of heel)!

Yes! A tour and sea trial of the unicorn! I’m a huge fan of the Dashew designs, and have watched dozens of hours of their videos. The Dashew’s do a great job of showing the speed, safety, and comfort under way of their hull designs... but it took NautiStyles to show how the layout is also an inspired design that adds to the ability of a couple to sail to any destination of their dreams. Great episode!

My curiosity was satisfied by this video. Previously I had lived on the shores of Lake Ontario prior to moving to LA. I had read extensively of the Dashews' sailing adventures. I had also admired Beowulf as I sailed past her when she was docked in D basin when I was conducting sail lessons. The wow factor and awe of seeing a famous world cruiser has stayed with me. Previous to Beowulf coming to town I would admire the Sundeer/Deerfoot across the basin.

I like Dashew's. The first time I ever saw one was on Berthon's channel. They have lots of them they sell. All the ones I've seen are very bare bones inside. I'm sure at Marina Del Ray people are probably saying 'Like Oh my gosh....why don't they paint that boat? Did they like build it and then run out of money for paint? Maybe we can start a bake sale for them to buy paint or something' Thise are jokes. Every Dashew that I have also ever seen has been owned and crewed by a family and eve the bigger ones have like 3 cabins. The crew cabins are on board as well and is minimal too. Also, that shower is designed so that if you are sailing in rough weather, and taking a shower, the water doesn't splash out all over the place. Plus in cold weather if your feet were soaked in cold seawater, you can soak your feet in warm water. They put thought in Dashews.

Hiya Vico, wow what a wonderful beast, they sailed from California to New Zeeland with no interior. They had the insides done to such a standard though I would think the owners were deciding what they needed during that first long sail, plus what they thought would be fun. That open deck in the pilothouse allows access to the salon, I love that, and that from the outside the pilothouse looks not so much a battleship as the catapult officer home on a carrier. Lexan, the material that they used on the pilothouse is bulletproof glass. What a great engine room, talk about space. Everything fitted in rather than, shoehorned in. A perfect yacht for the right couple, not my thing but it does indeed take all sorts. Thank you, and stay safe, Steve...

Not sure if it was just the Mchale's Navy-looking gun-ready sailboat boat, the epic battle music, or the greasy fried chicken I was eating but this was awesome !!!!!

Wow, this is the best boat tour I've seen you do. You really have to know what you're doing to take this thing out to sea. A lot of lines to keep track of and avoid tripping over.

Again you two, pull it off. Sound track so perfit. Editing, like a I max theater. A sailing yacht that was so far ahead of it time. 2 people, 3000 miles. 12 knots. How crazy is that. Rico, that's what you should buy.... don't pass it up. Your dream of dreams. Any where on earth..... And you can bring many friends..... jump on it. Be happy.

This is truly an Explorer, kitted out to last the end of times. Huge boat with half the space dedicated to function and operation, not comfort like most vessels of our age. Thats how it should be.

Seeing the inside of this yacht is awesome! I've seen the outside with I was visiting California years ago. You are so right about how it looks. It's very intimidating to see and it does remind one of a battleship.
