1.5 Kw North Wales Hydroelectric System Installation Part 2 Timber Framed Powerhouse
For the last two weeks I have been working on the timber framed powerhouse for the hydro system I am doing for a customer. I milled all the timber at home and did all the joinery in my workshop. I then towed the building in kit form to the property and myself and Raf put the building together in two days. I think it came out well and its lovely to have all the space inside to work.

This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things kzread.infoUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.
After an absolutely horrific week, I'd just watch a video of your workshop with the rain falling on the roof. Your channel is good for the soul Kris.

Thanks mate, that gave me a giggle.
Raf seems like a top bloke. Love the fact that you left the site cleaner than when you got there. That’s a rare occurrence nowadays.

Don't you love working with a pro. You know what he's doing and he knows what your doing, It just works. Great vid, and amazing shed/hut/powerhouse. Thanks for sharing
I hope your client understands and appreciates the quality of the work he is getting because I doubt if there are many builders in the world offer this standard.

You're that guy we all want as a neighbor, thanks I always enjoy what you do
this type of architecture would be perfect for a kids summer camp out in the woods lol. would make it pretty magical experience.
That went together amazingly well! I like how you were fussing that the customer might watch the vid so you had to do a good job. By that logic, if the customer has watched any or all of your vids, they'll know you ALWAYS do a great job!
Of all the subbed people i watch on KZread this is the one i most look forward too
I would definitely give the building 100 years the way it was built, even though it is in the forest!beautiful work!

In a 100 years when a solar flare 2x the size of The Carrington Event nukes every electronic on the planet. Our descendants can look at the craftsmanship and think to themselves.. "Boy oh boy I bet portable power tools were nice; whelp back to trying to replicate these mortise and tenons with our stone tools" :)

Never underestimate the power of nature ... and the one worry I have is the base square, which is lying flat on the concrete ... which has the danger of creating condensation on the cold concrete, which will them cause that square to ROT. It isnt even rain that would be necessary ... just pure condensation from cold nighttime temperatures on warm days. It might have been a good idea to put a layer of clay between the bottom square and the concrete to push out any air pockets and thus moisture ... and then finish it off with a bit of pait to keep moisture from creeping into the clay.

@@Muck006 All the timber is very durable! No chance of that happening!
I'm a property developer and I've never seen a joiner or carpenter as professional and skilled as you. That was definitely your true calling 💎
I have been watching KZreadr Andrew Camarata for 4 years. Stumbled across your channel and wow an English version of him. Working my way through you back videos, brilliant.
Most people would drop a Homebase tin shed on it. You on the otherhand, mill the lumber, carve the joints and build a timber frame structure. Magnificent.
Raff seems like the kinda guy worth his weight in gold on the jobsite.
Lol the bit at 27:10 when you two are hanging from the rafter to fit it onto the tenon is hilarious. Kris finds the right grip to fit it into place and Raf grabs the end and starts swining about :)
Finished building looks like the mother of all bee hives! When finished it will even buzz away.
been looking forward to seeing how this build got on, thanks Kris....
You guys rock. I bumped into this when I looked for alternative power supplies. Lol. Regards from Germany 🇩🇪
That will stand the test of time! Raph is great skilled co-worker, you two work well together. Top job 👏
A great job Kris! You could hear the air coming out of those joints as it went together. Aside from that, what an invention the nail gun is!!
I wish I had your skill level. You make it look so easy. Cheers from 🇨🇦

You're a real treasure to your community and they are probably barely aware of it, so far. To be able to hire your skill locally is ironically priceless.
Impeccable work. Another historic build. You do need another one built at your place. Will be watching for that one to begin. Great job !
love all your stuff .. amazed at what you have built while we watched .. thanks for all your hard work
So Kris, that is. Sharpening a pencil with a chisel. No better way to test the sharpness of your tools. Perfect.
1 thing I always think about when I'm using a handheld circular saw is..... If the "guard" wasn't there.... my fingers would spend less time near the blade. Nice to see someone else with their fingers exactly where fingers shouldn't really be
Great team work lovely craftsmanship thanks from the land down under 🏴🇦🇺👍🏻
Great stuff Kris! Shout out to Raf, It's a pleasure working with guys like that - who already know the next task / tool required!
Enjoying this video and hearing all the rain. And just thinking about you being Kristopher Robin. Tut tut it smells like Rain.
I love your mate. he seems to be a really nice lad. and he knows what he's doing.
it is so good to see these skills, and attitude, are still alive and kicking. Please keep it up.
I've done my share of on-site set up on the middle of nowhere and I must say y'all have done a beautiful job on this thing so far I've only gotten Parkway through episode 2 beautiful work gentleman awesome all around good job guys😊
I watched this from here in Alaska and I truly enjoyed the craftsmanship and the project came out impressive. Thank you
Stunning joinery as always. Joiner myself, but it’s one thing I haven’t done is old school timber frame and peg work. More of this content 😍💪🏻💪🏻

Having grown up in a half-timbered house with the beams standing free ... the joints have always been "a kind of magic", because there needs to be a system of how you put it together correctly. This showed a part of the magic.
U really build for generations, that will hold at least 100 years
It's a tour du force of carpentry skills and the half laps with pegs etc were super duper 😳😍😍😍👏👏👏
Love watching these videos! Keep them coming! What a skilled chap!
I saw the water wheel that you built and didn't even finish the episode. I went to your channel and found this build, I liked it enough that you have earned my subscription. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. I've always been a fan of the New Yankee Workshop and This Old House on PBS here in the United States. I learned how to do drywall until the injuries i suffered in a motorcycle accident caused me to become permanently disabled. I did drywall for 13 years after my accident. I started out as the live on site security officer. Would do claenup for them at nit and started getting woken up to do other projects.
I love the fact you are building to a standard that should outlive you! nice work
5:04 How nice it is to hear rain on the roof of your workshop
Great job, I hope Raff (?) sticks around to benefit as the business grows. Good team work. 👍
The best thing about you is, (unlike most people) you always assume you CAN do it, whatever “It”may be. Therefore, you set about finding the info and the skills to accomplish it. After a few years with this attitude, there isn’t much you can’t do at this point. I love watching you, and admire the care you always take to get it just right.🐝🤗❤️
beautiful work as always!
Cool never sharpened my pencil with chissle, 😊, love your work sir.
Wonderful, a huge treat at the end of a hot week
Hi kris, loving this stuff 👍
Love the way you guys made and built that, it was a water shed moment.
Your videos never disappoint. Thank you again for letting us in to your world.
After seeing everything _after_ this, it was so satisfying (PTS 1+2) to get to the point of hole in the floor, apparatus set, it's perfect. PSST HE DOES COILS. HE WORKS HARD
Amazing Job Kris! Looking forward to what you do for the door.
Nice bit of joinery there Kris, great to see it all come together, well done.
Kris, I've been watching your channel for a while now and all I can say is I admire you craftmanship and compassion when you are working with wood.
Another amazing video! Thanks Kris!
Another great work plus to you both. Well done 👍 Love your friends hair ❤️❤️
I enjoyed watching this episode very much. An all electric workshop that is off-grid that had rain (a lot by the sound of it) to power the 'hydro' then bright sunshine to give your new solar panels their turn. Love the joinery; i once read an article called "The House With No Nails" & you've shown how to peg timber joins so that they not only hold but are drawn tight. I did wonder how the roof was going to be clad. Thanks Kris for filming this & other episodes; the real things in life are better viewing, Rgds., Ph.
A beautifully crafted building, hats off to the two of you.
Beautiful job! Really love the joinery and it looks fantastic.
Fantastic job you 2! Beautiful!
Marvellous teamwork the design and preparation everything came together brilliantly.
that was pretty impressive. Really solid work from both of you

Brilliant work, I could watch that all day the video has flown by! Your workmanship is top notch as always and Raff is a cracking worker to have as help.
Thanks for posting and sharing. Great to see the hydro job coming along.

Simply outstanding workmanship.
Fantastic job, your joinery is spot on... Thanks for the upload Kris.
Wow fantastic craftsmanship, thanks for sharing Kris.

Another fabulous build. You are a marvel. I hope the rest of Raf's plans go as well as this build. 🥳👍
Excellent work, Kris.
Built to last for sure and a pleasing structure to visit when needed.
Amazing half lap work cheers!
You come with some impressive ideas Kris. Enjoyed every single second
Very impressive. Pleasure to watch
I was waiting for this! Really enjoyed watching!
proper boss level framing work now - superb skills!
A true sign of a master is when you watch them work and think "Hey I could do that" instead of "that looks way too difficult for me to attempt"
Looks great. Very nice job.
Some fantastic high quality woodworking, some very skilled men, very very impressive
Found your channel from the first of these videos as I'm in the north too, and have binge watched most of your videos since. Craftmanship on that is top notch Kris. Looking forward to seeing it all up and running
Very Cool Hydro Powerhouse...Awesome Video Kris !
That’s some decent work that panned out exactly as planned!
You two make a great team 👏
Another great looking job Kris you make this joinery lark look easy
You guys did a great job on the hydro-electric house. I’m a big fan of Timber Framing
You are just SO next level with the way you build things. Looking at this from the outside, people would think it’s just “some shack”; but that thing is build like the proverbial brick sh*t house!! 100 years and 10 hurricanes from now it will still be standing. Truly amazing work you do, your customer is a lucky person and I hope they recognize just what they got there. (and paid you accordingly too👍)
