I've watched at least 20 of your videos and every time you say "carefully" some child in the world stops crying.

lol if only !
Can you imagine actually getting in those things and taking off. Especially into combat with no parachute, no armor plating or any kind protection. Those guys were crazy
Absolutely awesome! 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Machine Guns: spray them silver and then varnish them. Allow the clear coat to fully cure and then spray the guns in your choice of semi gloss black. Allow the black coat to dry overnight and then, very gently, using a sharpened cocktail stick and a moistening of appropriate thinner, gently rub away at those areas of the gun that ordinarily receive wear.....😜👍🏻👍🏻 The silver undercoat will start to show through but the modeller must adhere to the usual rules, re acrylics versus enamels and which thinners work with what and will not disturb the protective layers already used.....just a thought....😜
As a mostly model car builder, the two WKW kits in my collection frighten me. Perhaps one day. You did a spectacular job. And Black Star is always a great choice for outro music.
This is the perfection on plastic . Tremendously well done James . The wheatering is light , but consistent and visible , but without overwhelming it . Thank you very much for this amazing vid . Congrats !!

James, absolutely beautiful build! So glad to see WNW kits still getting built, and in your case, masterfully done.

thanks @Scale_History, i got a few more in the stash to do, projects like this need a big break between tho :P
This makes me nostalgic for my scale modeling days. I'm blown away with the level of detail in the kits and aftermarket details like belts, buckles, etc. I had to fabricate my harnesses out of our old toothpaste tubes and cockpits were detailed with heated and sculpted sprue. Instrument panels were drilled out, acetate glued behind the holes and Xerox of instrument panel images scaled down behind that. Washes and what not were what I used to highlight dimensional details like you did here. The one thing I did when rigging wires, control cables and tension wires for WWI aircraft was heating and stretching sprue. Those laser straight "wires" could then be cut to length. I would spray them in aluminum and use a fitch fan sable in a dark gray to create the twisted wire appearance. I truly admire your work here. It was spectacular. One thing I could of done, even in the seventies and eighties, was dissolve sprue like you did for filling gaps. I used a modelers putty and it took for-ever to sand and blend. Your technique is absolutely brilliant.
Brilliant detailed work. Thanks for sharing.
great bit of modelling. One niggle would the end of the seat belt which is several layers of fabric thick bend like that.
A real masterclass in building and painting from the best in the business. Great video.

It's not just a model it is a work of art and you, James, are a great artist! Excellent build and I like the fact that you keep in the mistakes and show us how you rectified them rather than edit them out. Keep up the good work my friend and stay safe!

Quite remarkable work
Excellent build, I have the Sopwith Dolphin, waiting in the wings.
Beautiful job. The cockpit is a work of art.
Very enjoyable to watch and an excellent choice of markings.
Nice build James 👌 👍
Excellent build James. It's such a great subject & absolutely love the livery with the painted on markings. Happy Modelling.

Excellent job and video. Thanks for showing us some of the troubles you had along the way and the fixes too
As always I'm late. Really another great build. WW1 biplanes have been the bane of my modeling experience. Thanks again, really great job.

Nice work James, I think you nailed the timber effect, well done.
Fantastic work!!! I have subscribed to your channel, as you have a nice relaxed style, and your work is wonderful. I would be screaming like a banshee if I tried rigging. I would try, but then try to find a way to make a prop plane into a jet...

The rigging isn't so bad once you get the nack. The first one I rigged was the airfix eindecker. That was slow work but really fun and effective. I got a little lazy with this one because I didn't add turnbuckles but for my next ww1 I'll be shaping up and going all out !
That is a cool scheme. Definitely one you wouldn't see . Fantastic job.

Brilliant build! So glad you repositioned the joystick. You were extremely lucky to get away with not cleaning the joint surfaces of paint tho, WN models have really precise tolerances!

James. Excellent work! You produced a stellar warbird. I was looking forward to seeing your tutorial on painting wood grain effects since I'll be building a few more Wingnut Wings kits where that skill will come in handy. However I didn't see it in "the description below" or as the case may be the description above. But I think I should be able to find it in your video list. Thanks for sharing!

Brilliant James. It is nice to know I am not alone in my fear of attaching the upper wing on a biplane. I have a few more WNW kits in my stash, I am excited to get started.

mmmmm that snipe looks soo good :)
Another stunning video mate!! Love it! Are you going to bloodstock this year man?
You really bring the underlying structure of the wings to life with your strut-masking and airbrushing! Also, nobody on the planet comes close to your ability to paint “wood”! Beautiful work! I’m a but surprised you didn’t chip up the propeller or front engine cowling. Is that something that didn’t really happen irl?
SIMPLY WOW!💯💥

Stunning work ! Would have love to also see the wicker seat and the cushion painted. What color did you use for them ? If you remember
Really making me want to crack out one of my forbidden WnW kits and build it up!
@lpjmodels

do it !
Hi james, that was perfection at its best, I was hoping to get one of their kits, but I left my run too late, the one I was after was I think the Junkers or was it the Dornier, it only had the single wing and no much rigging, cheers mate and best wishes from Australia.
I’d love to build a WNW kit one day. They are so expensive and rare I’d be afraid of messing the kit up.

I have the same fear but with painting. I'm a middling decent figure painter but haven't done much scale modelling for many, many years.
Pure artistry to see you do this. I'm curious, how many hours over how many days to build this?
Thomas was pissed.
I'm really sorry they quit making these model planes!
It was a tragedy that Wing nut Wings went under. They made the finest scale plastic models on the Planet. RIP WNW.🙏🏻
Suuuuuper! But the propeller is mounted in the wrong direction.
Would have much preferred it if you'd used the RAF transfers and markings that came with the kit.
Congratulations! You have achieved what almost no other modelling video producer has: to pay just as much attention to the commentary and speech-style, as to the modelling itself. Far too many videos are unwatchable due to the awful voices and unconscious speech habits they include. Excellent :)
Dear friend, what compressor and airbrush do you use when painting models?
@lpjmodels
Жыл бұрын
Hi Vladimir, I use a harder and steenbeck infinity CR 0.15 with a sparmax tc620 compressor.
Beautiful build James, but you can’t just plonk that seat down without telling us how you got that lovely worn patina on it !

Hi James , loved your video . From NZ and have a Wingnut wings Junkers J1 I’d like to gift you , if you want another model to build . Don’t think I’d do it justice
Whose version of "Black Star" is that playing over the end?

Oh - just saw the credits. Well done, man!
Is there any hope of WNW ever coming back, or is it kaput for eternity?
you should have put a transparent piece in the side you just covered all that detail
Enjoying the channel and videos, but I admit I'm not a fan of seeing the finished product as the opening shots...hugely anti-climactic.

This was a really hard choice to make do I show the end result first to entice people or keep it quiet for a big reveal , Maybe I'll try it the other way in an upcoming video!
the quantity of adverts on this video made it unwatchable for me.

I'm in 2 camps here, Ads are annoying and youtube is getting a bit over the top with them, but on the other hand, the ads help me financially. Id love to have the financial freedom to have zero ads, but unfortunately, LPJ gotta eat!
