Overall, I avoid any kits in 1/72 like the plague. There is a point where it just becomes too tedious for me and I don't enjoy it. I stick with 1/32 kits or larger, I even do a lot of 1/16 armor. For me, bigger is better. That said, that was a beautiful result you got from that kit.

💯 Your model looks beautiful! What's particularly impressive is how you've skillfully applied fundamental techniques to get the most out of a simple kit. The most fascinating aspect is that you've demonstrated it's not necessary to load a model with tons of aftermarket parts in our hobby. This is modeling at its finest-congratulations!

Thanks Patrick, I agree, it's not necessary for a good build, some refinements can help but they are simple things, like the reinforcing of the panel line or thinning parts.!

Nice build! I like the frame effect with the PC12. Thanks for taking the time to document your build for us. These Toko/Roden/Eastern 1/72 WWI models are quite charming and reasonably priced compared to Eduard. (Eduard 1/72 WWI are such a pleasure to build though...) I bought a stack of these little Tokos from a buddy downsizing a couple of years ago and have yet to build any. The 45 degree crosshatch fabric surfaces are a bit pronounced. After seeing this build I plan to use high build surfacer and sand a bit to get rid of that texture.

Found the info I needed: "Photographs have emerged of captured Sopwith aircraft in German markings - ‘Strutter’ A1914 at Alderschof after it was captured last September when the pilot got lost on its delivery flight, ran out of fuel and landed in German territory and 3(N) Sqdn ‘Pup’ N6161 shot down 1st February this year. Both pilots are prisoners of war." That was from Kingston Aviation, Sopwith Day by Day which is online if anyone wants to see the pics. 'Aldershof' is most likely a misprint of Adlershof, an airfield in Berlin.

@@lpjmodels yes I'd noticed that Toko changed the serial number to A1913 as well. I've had a good Google and can't find any other photos of her, how dug this up from Kingston Aviation too: "On 13th September 54 Squadron’s A1914 on its delivery flight from Castle Bromwich to St Omer gets lost in cloud, runs out of fuel and lands near Thielt in German territory. It is captured intact and sent to Alderschof for evaluation. 2nd Lt A F Organ is taken prisoner of war." 54 Sqn RFC was based at Castle Bromwich and moved to the Western Front by December 1916. Wiki lists them as flying Pups hower.
