1,300 Miles in Classic Jaguars! Will They Make the Drive (Day 2)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After all the work that has been done to the 1975 Jaguar XJC, will it make the long drive? A 1,300 mile road trip in classic Jaguars is quite the undertaking. Will both cars make the drive? In part 2 we continue our drive to the middle of Sweden, Östersund. It is a longer drive today and much hotter also. How will it go?

Thanks for that Adam ! Nice to hear that the XJS V12 got 12 litres per 100 kms. In the next vid, show us all the old Jags, they are more interesting.

I'm absolutely shocked I was expecting the XJS to do more like 20L/100km my 07 S-Type 3 litre v6 gets about 12

This is the 1977 British Leyland experience! Authentic - they did all this when they were new. It's all worth it though.

@@LivingWithAClassic Go wrong! Generally small niggly things rather than major problems. You curse and swear at it....then you drive it again and all is forgiven.

Your comment on that section of road having a 100km/h limit and no centre board was interesting, that's all we ever get here in New Zealand. Swedens roads do look well maintained. Thanks for the video.

Hi Adam. You're bound to have small issues but the cars are running very well . The scenery reminds of my visit to Seatlle in 1997 . My aunt lived with her husband Harold in Tacoma. Harold was a keen vintage car collector and we went for a short , 400 mile (!) trip in his latest car a 1941 Cadillac drop head. We drove to Hurricane Ridge and back . Very similar and breath taking scenery. The Cadillac didn't miss a beat ! Thanks Adam .

....Not to mention that electricity costs have quadrupled and charging them at stations is a complete nightmare as they rarely actually work properly.

too bad the XJC had the A/C issue, but I am sure you will have it sorted out in short order. Sounds like you enjoyed this adventure.

I do hope the XJ-C has the air conditioning system repaired. The XJ-S is simply stunning, and not too surprised at the fuel mileage. The I-Pace is also very nice, would love to test out that EV. Rural Sweden 🇸🇪 reminds me of some of the more rural parts of New York State, just gorgeous! And love seeing the other Jaguars, and nice to see an X-Type!

Can't understand why anyone would take an electric car on a 1300 mile journey. 47 year old Jaguar, certainly but not an EV.

My friend got asked to take the car by the company. He also wrote a magazine article about the trip and the issues with finding good chargers. It was a good way to test owning an EV.

If they took a car powered by wood it ‘would’ have been better…. I guess rural Sweden is a good test.

All the Mazda cars that I had/have are wonderfully reliable and my XJ40 is not that bad in this regard. The worse car I ever had for the reliability was a 2000 Toyota Celica Gt. Garbage from everywhere.

EV’s are excellent…. If you only plan on driving them to and from work, short errands, etc. Just think when there is 3x as many EV’s on the road will there be 6x the chargers? Not likely and they’ll be just as expensive as fuel! 🤣
