    Thank you for a very informative video. Another rule to consider might be Leonardo’s rule on tree growth. Da Vinci wrote in his notebook that "all the branches of a tree at every stage of its height when put together are equal in thickness to the trunk." For more info and discussion, google “Leonardo’s rule on trees”.

    OMG I love this tutorial…I have goose bumps!!! Im eager to try this but also fear my tendency to “overwork” (I dont know when to stop adding on). That fear often paralyzes me because I remember that last time I ended up with a mess. This tutorial gives me hope for a new approach. Thank you💖

    You can do it! I always recommend doing small studies. It seems they don't stress us out as much and we can do lots in a short period. Painting more always makes us better artists.

    Love the tutorial. Can I ask if you are able to do a tutorial with a limited amount of colours? As a beginner, I have very few colours, or how to create deterrent colours with a limited palette. That would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Yes, I have a video where I create a landscape painting with only 12 pastel colors. I have others that use limited palettes as well. You could probably find that video by doing a search on KZread and type in Monet Cafe 12, it might show up. I also have a playlist on my channel with beginner specific tutorials. Hope that helps Kate!

    What do you use to sketch? Is it pastel?

  • @monetcafe

    @monetcafe

    2 жыл бұрын

    I’m not sure what I used in this video since I didn’t just rewatch it, but I usually use a charcoal pencil or a Harter pastel. One of my favorites is a color called spruce blue that is made by prisma color new pastel. It’s great for Sketching in Pastels apply on it beautifully. Beware of using pencil sketch because pastel doesn’t adhere to the pencil marks very well.

    Hi Susan :) Sorry, i didn't get what "gesture" means. 🐒 i am not sure if you meant this: "a movement of part of the body, especially a hand or the head, to express an idea or meaning."

  • @monetcafe

    @monetcafe

    2 жыл бұрын

    That’s a really great question… And I would define gesture as a fluid mark of energy of an object rather than the outline (as in a contour drawing).
