Total bait and switch. My wife bought one and it was great. She buys me the new one (Gen 3) for $350, 6 months later they shut off access to all the data and want $6/month for the rest of my life to get access to it. That’s crazy! Generation 1 & 2 didn’t do that. Anyone who bought those first two models don’t have to pay anything. We asked them for our money back, this is absurd.

Great vid. I’ve tried a lot of the same stuff and I like my ring. Glad I stuck with the gen 2 and didn’t upgrade. Seems the company has run into some trouble 😬. 200+ negative comments on every IG post. Also no affiliate link is SO annoying.

Thanks for this review, it was very helpful for me. One question, I know Oura recommends wearing their ring on the index finger for best results. I noticed you wear yours on the ring finger. Do you think this could affect your results?

It measures how your sleep may be negatively affected by drinking a bit with friends, but can it measure the amount of fun you had on that night out?

typically sleep is inversely related to amount of fun. (worse sleep = more fun) hahaha

Such a great video! I've been wanting to get an Oura Ring for awhile to experiment with but it sounds like I would be better off finding a Gen 2! I wish you could combine the Whoop interface and the Oura Ring wearability (is that a word?! it is now!).

YO! I've been sleep obsessed since Matt Walker, then found more data with Andrew Huberman, got a product called Hatch Restore, then looked into Eight Sleep mattress cover for my Tuft and Needle mattress. Haven't gotten the pod yet... a bit further down the line. HOWEVER. Currently wearing the Oura size ring and laughing hysterically as your videos progresses 1 by 1 through the same things we've been researching or have done lately. And yes... I'm a stat freak so thanks for the warning not to take it too personal. Gf definitely looked at me and said "He's talking about you! Leave the stats alone!" 😂😂😂

If you live in Canada, Indigo is having limited time online purchase for the Gen 2 right now. I just got mine last week as well. After all the reviews, I believe i dont need the Gen 3 but I really wanted the Oura ring, so the Gen 2 is a great option

Yep... Oura ring went from one of the best valued option to the worse when they added the subscription. Now, you get the priviledge of buying the device so you can pay them to use it. Absolutely, the dumbest of ALL business models.

Would you still say it’s more worth buying the 2 from eBay than the 3? To avoid the subscription service I left whoop due to not wanting to pay £30 a month 😂

One of the main reasons I use Oura over Apple Watch or Whoop is wrist wearables really irritate my skin. I have eczema and keeping a tracker against my wrist 24/7 caused a lot of rashes and irritation. I updated my Oura ring simply to avoid the subscription fee but yea I dunno if I would use it if I had to pay subscription fees.

i think it's great that we have options on the type of wearables to meet everyone's needs. I upgraded for the same reason! I think they pigeon-holed us into upgrading, which is kind of sad

Update : Attention before buying this ring there is one thing you should know. The ring is totally useless in the €6 per month subscription. So be prepared to pay! In the subscription the application comes down to three numbers on the home screen. You won't have any accurate heart rate tracking, sleep details, etc. Many people are disappointed with this new policy. If you really want a tracker, check out the competitors.

i would advise buying it used! I think the $6/mo subscription they just introduced isn't worth it. They didn't add enough value, just took away features if you don't pay it

I disagree partially that sleep is a best solution to these. Why? Because its not that sleep affects stress but sleep is affected by stress etc... so its like connected circle, if you will have a bad sleep habbits you will feel the same or worse after sleep (like oversleeping on weekend ending with a cluster headache)
