Does anyone else want this dude to swing by with a six pack to shoot the shit with you as you fix your truck?

This is the clearest video for 3rd gen Ram starter replaceement, other videos don't even show getting around that shield or the proper socket size to use. Thank you.

Thank you for the detailed video. I found it very helpful. I found that for my 2003, the attachment bolts were 16MM, which will hopefully help someone else with a 2003 that watches this. Also, for the 2003, make careful note of how the power wire is attached. It is flat and has a shape to it. If you reattach it in the wrong position, you will not be able to re-install the starter, as the tension on that wiring connection will not give you room to set it in place. Glad to see that for the 2006, it has a 90* bend to it which eliminates the problem I found myself having. Again, thank you for taking the time to make the video. We all know that they change little things through the model years, and this was a great guide for me.

Thanks for the video. Especially showing the process once the starter was removed. Made it much easier to understand.

2:26 That shield is a pain in the ass, makes it impossible to see the bottom bolt which means you have to feel around for it with the socket.

Hey boss I have a 05 as well and it looks like I need to replace the starter. Is it done in a Similar as this video ?

Make sure to check your fuses and relays as well, and make sure that the power cable from the battery to the starter is intact and that your getting 12 volts at the starter solenoid when you turn key to the on position. There's also the possibility of ignition switch failure as well.

I have a 2005 dodge ram and the (2) starter mounting bolt hex heads are 16MM socket and not a15MM socket. Dodge must have changed the bolts to a 15MM hex head.

Do you crawl under the truck or do you have a lift or hoist ? , seems like you had a lot of movable room there , been under my 2005 ram with 20 inch rims , and its tight , and i was wondering if you take of the wheel well guard , can you set at it on the drivers side ??
