(06'-21') Yamaha YZF-R6 Chain and Sprocket Replacement Tutorial

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Time to get my Yamaha R6 back in tip top shape! After putting a new rear tire on the bike a few moths ago, I noticed my chain started making a lot of noise. Readjusting it must have tightened it enough to be stretched to the max. My chain on the R6 is the OEM one from 2007 and I have 25k miles on the bike. You can see and hear the chain binding up on the rear sprocket. So I order this brand new chain and sprocket kit for the R6 along with a chain tool and replaced the old parts with new! I stuck with the original 525 pitch on the sprockets and chain and stock tooth. 16 up front and 45 in the rear. I love the look of the new Superlite sprocket in back! Looks very sporty. I also am loving the new gold D.I.D chain! Perfect complement to my R6! As shown in the video replacing the chain and sprocket is easy. Just grind off one of the pins and push it out with the chain tool. The after assembling the new master link with the new chain measure the distance apart and slowly press the plate on. Then the other pin from the tool with a cone shape gets pressed into the pin in the chain to mushroom it and make it secure. Sprockets are direct replacements. Bike rides so much smoother now with new chain and sprocket! Feels quicker too! Much more responsive and smoother in acceleration! There is some noise from the front sprocket since it doesn't have the rubber damper like stock. But overall this was a great upgrade!

I didn't really do any specific torque specs. Just do them nice and tight and you should be good. About 20 pounds or so
