I use a tray with a loose lid, kitchen paper towels & parchment paper on top. All things I already had on hand in the house. Keeps paints wet for about a week with no mold!
This technique has eliminated so much frustration of using acrylic paints! No more scrubbing paint off your palette and no more dry paint! It's life changing!

I've found when you buy cookies at walmart bakery, these plastic trays make great palettes with recloseable lids, paint keeps for 2+ weeks.

Thanks Pamela, very helpful info. You also mentioned once using Golden Open medium with acrylics. Another great tip. Appreciate your generous sharing.
Nice home-made solution! Also, Masterson's Sta-Wet Palette 12"x16" can keep acrylic paints fresh for days, or even weeks. Comes inside a plastic box with air-tight lid....very handy for transporting. Includes a thin sponge at the bottom of the box, and nice palette paper. Sold at most art stores, and online.

LIFE CHANGING TIP!!!! THANK UPI FOR SHARING!!
Hi Pam, Great tip, thank you! I used wax paper on top of CWM paints and it works pretty well. My favorite tools are garage sale kitchen and work shop tools. Pastry cutting wheel is awesome, as well as angel food cutting tool. Shop tools are endlessly fun. I loved your rolling pin additions. Fun, fun! Thank you.
Just want you to know I so appreciate this tip and I LOVE LOVE that painting you did behind you. OMG I want to crawl into your brain!
Thanks for this wonderful tip! I have used the stay wet palette before but this is so much more immediate since the palette paper doesn’t need to be soaked ahead of time. I am going to try it with a large butcher tray that I have.
This is such a great idea! Going to try it today!
thanks ma’am for this valuable tip👍
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Its like you connected the lost piece in my art journey. Again thank you.

Fantastic. Just what I need here in TEXAS where the temperature is 102 and I have no AC in my studio. My paints have been drying out before I can get them on the canvas. Thanks again.

Hello Pam - thank you so much for sharing this wonderful tip! I am a new subscriber to your KZread channel - I might register to some of your training once my studio is all set up as I find that you are a wonderful artist and communicator.
Thanks, I'm going to try this. Great ideas. Thanks
Thank you. That was extremely helpful. I was having trouble with the paint drying out so fast.
I'm just beginning to explore painting with acrylics - I've been painting with watercolors for over 30 years - I played around with them yesterday, and was shocked at how fast the paints dried. I just pulled up your video, having no idea what a 'wet palette' actually meant. THANK YOU!!
Great video pam. I like the cafeteria tray and tracing paper ideas as it provides for a large stay-wet palette. Larger than what others are showing us to make. I’m a novice just learning and taking my first acrylics class, but having a stay-wet palette is required for this course. Stay well and thanks for great tips.
