In this video Doctor Andrea Furlan explains what are causes of pain in the mid thoracic area. These can be caused by myofascial pain syndrome with trigger points in the rhomboids, levator scapula, trapezius, infraspinatur, paraspinals and other muscles. She demonstrate various techniques for self-massage and 25 exercises that can be done at home with minimum equipment like tennis ball, elastic bands, foam roller, shepherds hook, yoga mat, hand weights, and an exercise ball.

The suggested exercises have helped me come out of my mid back pain. I am 52 yrs old and may be my age factor took a long time of 8 months for me to come out of this pain, but your exercises have definitely worked. I never gave up and continued positively with hope. Dear Dr Furlan. The level of caring you put in these videos and how easy to follow exercises is wonderful and I thank you! This was so useful to me as I suffer from these pains and know of knots in back.I have degenerative disks being 56 is getting worse and I have to be more physically active with mobility of upper back . But my problems do not stop there. Despite visiting medical practicioners I am left in same agony. And this is why when it comes to suggestions on video topics, please I would like to ask migraine subject and possible connection of it with sleep apnea . I have been waking up to violent headaches every morning for years and it seems to be same time, around that 5-30 AM. It can be accompanied with neck pain and almost always diarhea. I try different things to help myself. Watching whole bunch of your videos yesterday I set a new plan and last night I did this exercises and streches with you, ordered a ball from links I have the rest of tools(rubber bands) and was so hopeful for a bit of change . I will keep it up. my problem is lack of sleep also, I am going to work on that too. In my life I do not need and want anything but have a few days without migraine because a day without headache is already a great day for Jana. You are excellent and you're in Canada! Im still convalescing from a severely broken shoulder from 18 months ago. Restricted range of motion with my right arm, impingement and scapula issues. Any suggestions. I'll be going for an appointment with an Orthopedic Surgeon in a few months. Not having a good time. I should mention I'm 75. Jim

To massage your back you can put the ball in a long stocking or sock. That is much easier because the ball will not fall on the ground.
What causes pain in the muscles below the rhomboid area, but above the lumbar area?

Hello! I have radiating pain in the shoulder area, stiff neck when sitting, every time I roll the tennis ball, the shoulder blades make a squealing sound, please tell me if it is a muscle fiber or a tendon and if I should roll continue that area? When I sleep at night, it hurts the whole area, and my shoulders make a noise when I put my arms forward! so please give me advice! Sincere thanks!

I have thoracic back pain and neck pain. Hyper kyphosis and hyper lordosis is now a problem after an accident several years ago, finally leading to two fusions in the T spine and C spine. The thoracic spine is now at 90 degrees. I have Ed constant headaches, shoulder arm and hand nerve pain. Extreme pain in my thoracic pain 24/7 I’m Having problems breathing, swallowing, ribs pain, fainting etc. the thoracic spine is now at 90 degrees. I’m so exhausted all the time I’m so over it ,I have now noticed that my lower part of my sternum is protruding, could this be linked to the kyphosis? Thank you so much :?

It depends on the kind of pain and type of injection.
Do you recommend the foam roller with patients having Spinal Stenosis? I would like to use it, but it’s very uncomfortable. I would invest in the ‘softer’ foam roller I’ve seen at the PT Clinic if you thought it would be effective. Thank you.

It is good to do exercsies every morning.
I get tightness in this area. Most my life ive been tight in this area. Its very uncomfortable. I recently had a massage and the massage therapist said i was really tight here, especially on the right side

I have fibromyalgia and I find that rolling the muscles sometimes makes the pain worse. It feels good while massaging and a little after. But after like an hour it feels worse. Why is this? Is fibromyalgia pain different?

why after one year i have still pain in thoracic between shoulder blades even after lots of exercises?
My upper back keeps popping n sharp pain between the shoulder blades n spine.n also pain under arm
