042824 FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH SH 249

At 9:40 am Sunday Montgomery County dispatchers started receiving multiple calls for a motorcycle crash on the northbound feeder of SH 249 just north of Hardin Store Road. The location is just several hundred yards south of the MCHD station. Units with MCHD and Magnolia Fire responded and found a male unresponsive on the shoulder of the feeder. Medics worked for close to 30-minutes to save the man but were unsuccessful. DPS investigated the crash and determined the Yamaha RI was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when he struck the curb on the right shoulder and jumped it. The motorcycle continued for over two hundred feet before striking a tree and fence. The bike continued almost another 100 feet ejecting the driver and tearing off the wheel assembly. Montgomery County Forensics Investigators responded to the scene. Eickenhorst Funeral Directors transported the male to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.. Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constables Deputies assisted with traffic control. As the investigation continued several motorcycles different motorcycles were seen southbound on SH 249 in excess of 100 miles per hour.

As an old biker who still rides, this breaks my heart. The fact that the biker, and their 2 riding partners have no license plates, says a LOT about their lack of respect and behavior on the road. Too many riders never get a “second chance” to correct their mistake, and their first mistake can be their last. If you want to run fast, take it to the track!

First off, he wasn’t speeding any more than any car I have ever seen. And the other 2 were only there after the crash. And my husband was only running no plates because we had just got the bike. The facts that everyone has about this crash is incorrect. But no one has been interested in the truth.

I rode to work from 1984 until I retired in 2021. I would always call or text my wife when I arrived, and tell her whether or not anyone tried to kill me that morning. When streaming videos arrived a good 50% of the drivers were watching movies instead of the road.

I've been riding for many many years. In my younger days I was one of those people who felt as if nothing could happen to me. I drove like an idiot (speed wise) and was just lucky to have lived long enough to grow up and realize how dangerous it really is. I can imagine what must have been going through the rider's mind when he realised that he had lost control. Terrifying to say the least.

A lady provided dash cam proof it was a hit and run and I can show you on my life360 they maxed out at 75. With so many witnesses saying otherwise, isn't it suspicious that they rushed to drop the case and post this so quickly? Time of the accident was 9:40 am, and this video was posted very quickly afterwards. So they had what, less than an hour to assess? Did they even look at the fucking evidence or just assume that because they were bikers they must have been in the wrong? You guys believe everything you see on the news and it's really fucking sad.

I was going to work @ 3AM years ago and i rolled up on a similar scene to this one here, in this incident a young man had left a bar on his bike at top of the hill and was speeding and didn't make the curve (which wasn't that sharp) and he was catapulted across the railroad tracks, i pulled over on my bike to see what was going on, not long after the EMS showed up out came the white sheet and shortly after the coroner's vehicle showed up, that incident over 35 years ago made a lasting impression on me of how fragile life really is, and how important to ride safe and not impaired with a healthy fear of how dangerous and unforgiving a Motorcycle crash can be!

I tend to believe the posters who said he was pushed off the road. I wouldn't think that a rider on a straight unobstructed road, with a clear view, would simply run off the road and over a curb. I was run off the road like this once, on my Harley. I was on I75 South, just north of Flint Michigan with a pack of bikes that had gotten ahead of me. I was doing 75, in the left lane, with one bike behind me. A Chevy 3500 dually pulling a flat aluminum trailer was in the center lane to my right. I didn't like being next to it, so I gradually started pulling further up to get by, while watching his position in the lane. Sure enough, he started heading into my lane. I did not have sufficient power to pass him. I hit the horn, as did the bike behind me, but the pickup's driver and passenger were oblivious, and kept on coming, pushing me further and further left. I started slowing as much as I could, before I left the road. There was insufficient shoulder in that area, and debris in the median. There were also those noise ridges cut into what little shoulder there was. I released the brakes as soon as I hit the ridges, pulled the clutch in, and held on. The woman on back of the bike behind me was screaming, because she thought she was witnessing me getting killed. That big heavy bike bounced all over, like hell, but I stayed on, stayed up, and lived to tell. This man's conditions were worse, with a raised curb and rough ground, plus a storm drain. It's a miracle he held on for as long as he did. My sincere condolences go out to the rider's family and friends. I hope you find justice.

Ironically, the one & only time i dropped my bike, was due to unseen SILT on the road, as i went into the corner at under 30 MPH. My advice to ageing bikers is: QUIT CHASING 20 !, & recognize when your motorcycle skills have diminished to the point where it is now time for you to hang up your helmet. Realize this and WISE UP❗ GET OFF those damn motor cycles before it's too late❗4 wheels much better anyways!
