03 to 07 GM Climate Control LED swap Silverado/Sierra

Ғылым және технология

In this video I installed LEDs in 2003 to 2007 GM Dual AC controller. I use white leds that work from 5 volts to 12 volts. Pretty simple process just do the bulbs 1 at a time and be very careful taking apart the controller.This climate control is found in the Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon. As long as they don't have the auto AC.
Exact bulbs not on amazon: www.allelectronics.com/item/l...

    Question, can I remplace all the 8 bulbs using blue leds of 3 mm directly? Or is necessary to install a resistor in each bulb? I have my control disassembled. The center bulbs are 12 v and the rest they are 6v but I am not sure. Give me your opinions please

    Couldn't get an Amazon link for that 5mm led I used but got y'all a link to them in the description. When it got dark last night I checked it out and no hot spots at night. I does kinda look like it on the 2/3 numbers on the camera but I think its just the Lights in the office for the camera wash it out. I am not sure why It looks like that. BTW The hot air station was only set to 200C and quick blasts not to melt the plastic.

    Hi, thanks for the great content, it really helped me. I'm running into an issue and was wondering if you have experienced it or not. The center white led works just fine but the other 6 bulbs do not work. We tried flipping the LEDs for polarity and used new/different bulbs but no cigars. Do you think the board is damaged?

  • @FixedUntilBroken

    @FixedUntilBroken

    3 жыл бұрын

    There are 2 different revisions of the board the other one the circuit board looks different like it has a lot less components on the board than the other. The polarity is different on the other one. It's hard to explain the polarity on them since I can't post a picture in the comments. Just use a multimeter to check polarities since they are in series some won't have power unless the polarity is correct on one. Also use chassis ground for checking it will make.it easier that way.

    @@FixedUntilBroken thanks for the advice, I have taken out all 6 LEDs and reverse the polarity of each one and nothing comes on. The only thing I havent tried is the chassis ground, I use a 9volt battery check and only the 2 middle light comes on. When I jump one of the 6 light, it turns on but the middle white led goes off. Normally wouldn't both come on? I think I'm going to redo the middle section for polarity.

    He mentioned he can't remember which one is the electrode and which one is the cathode... for the record they are both electrodes. One is the "anode" and the other is the "cathode." If you think of a + sign and a - sign... if you were to take apart a + sign and stack the vertical and horizontal lines in a straight line it would be longer than just the horizontal of a - sign. The longer lead (electrode) is the anode and gets connect to the + voltage. The shorter lead (electrode) is the cathode and gets connected to the - which is typically a common ground or zero volts. If you are working with round LEDs there is a flange at the bottom of the case near the leads. The flat spot will be the negative (0 volt) lead. Remember LEDs will only light in one direction. If not the polarity is wrong and you need to reverse the leads. Thanks for the video.

    You're working too hard to get those slider knobs off Matt. I'll tell the trick I've found to work 100% of the time without wasting much time. I do a ton of these things without breaking them. Do not use any tools except your hot air station and your bare hands. I have those little black Hakko heat resistant pads used for hot swapping tips, B2300 I believe, and i cut a little slot in them so I can slide them over the knobs. One knob at a time, with the knob at its highest position and aiming at the side of the knob closest to the rod, I then blast them with my hot-air station set to about 160° C and airflow at max for about 20 seconds. I then give the knob a gentle tug and to see if it comes off. If not, I then repeat the process two to three more times until it comes off without too much force. The key is patience and never use any tools other than your own hands. After about three to 4 tries, I've found that they always come off. Try not to squeeze them too hard as they are soft at that point and you don't want to collapse and deform them.
