Today is the anniversary of my sobriety. 7 years. My kids lovingly refer to it as "root beer float day", and ww always celebrate with a float. The release of this podwatcher is comically timely for me. You guys are seemingly always there. Thank you for being my parasocial homies.

Omg Ryan said “you don’t want a root beer float at 3am” and out loud I said “speak for yourself buddy” 😂😭💀
bring one bottle per episode for everyone to taste in a shot glass and have a review on the podcast!
I think we have another ‘whats the trauma version of nostalgia’ type bit: ryan saying his crazy food combo being chicken tenders and ranch😭😭😭im deadd
Here for my weekly Lazy Acres trip.
You guys should conjure a demonic entity at ryans house so you can do ghost files every day
I truly love For Your Amusment, I look forward to those video. Not a theme park person because I can't afford the ticket lol, but I really enjoy learning about them.

I havent been to one in more than a decade but I agree I love the history and the nitty gritty from people that care about it
I like when Steven takes slight jabs at For Your Amusement. Sassy stuff
just got to the part where Shane says it's hot in there... and I was literally like "Oh I could turn on the AC" as if I was in the same room as them... i was too invested lol
Ryan's superpower is being able to quote a movie line with the exact same cadence as the actor. It's impressive. 18:30
31:31 Thank you! for fact checking the boys’ fear of shark attacks. Sharks do not want to eat you
If Ryan really hasn't had watermelon with salt then that's my food combo recommendation. And watermelon and Tajin 😍
@bustedkeaton

For real, I'm always surprised when people haven't heard of that. We all know about salt on a lime, but watermelon is crazy??

Yes! I came here to say watermelon with Tajin. Also add chamoy, lime, and salt. In South Texas we mix it with a Smirnoff and it tastes awesome.

Always love a CAKE shoutout, especially from fellow not-40+ year old fathers
Baby Billy is a god-tier character. One for the ages, and such a great performance from Walter Goggins, who is experiencing a well-deserved career renaissance.
Its funny, I read a while ago that sharks don't actually mistake surfboards for seals. They just bite things to investigate them if they're curious.
I love it when the boys lovingly dunk on each other when someone says smth silly (which is constantly). Continues to be the comfort podcast of Tuesdays for me in Australia
My Mother who is in her 80’s grew up eating a grilled cheese and grape jelly sandwich. It’s the only way she will eat one. To make the sandwich: use any bread you like, sharp cheddar cheese sliced, grape jelly spread on one piece of the bread (it must be a Concord grape jelly and be generous), put the sandwich together, butter the outside, grill until super crispy and cheese is melty. I’m not good at lie, the sweet and savory compliment each other. I can hardly wait for you to try it😉😘

I really love it when y'all talk about movies and television. There should be an episode where you guys talk about your favourite movies.
My favorite food combo that people always balk at is instant chicken ramen, peanut butter, and gochujang. I used to have it ALL the time in college. Also, as a geologist, love to hear that Ryan and Shane had rock phases!

Salt and watermelon is actually good with a bit of lime. It’s super common for fruit vendors in Los Angeles to add lime, salt, chamoy and tajin.
Can attest to the peanuts and coke. It started (evidently) with factory workers on break, eating peanuts from the tube (you know the gas station tubes, or maybe cans when they used to put more stuff in cans) dumped in after you drank off a bit of the top of the bottle. This way they could avoid touching the peanuts with work-dirty hands. Belinda Carlisle mentioned it in a song about being country.
Shane always reminds me of Snufkin from the Moomins when his hair is messy like that. 🤣

Steven literally grew up in Ohio and forgot about the portion along Lake Erie. We got beaches all over the Great Lakes region!
okay , i am not much on commercials , but aura frames i would have never heard of otherwise. right. onward to family with one!
For the food combo: bacon and strawberry jam on a croissant
Weird food combo: regular Goldfish and chocolate Teddy Grahams. Try it for the next podcast!!
52:16 - My Iowan dad always says "Apple pie without cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze" ❤️
Here for a lazy acres update, let's see what's happened now lol. I just love making and eating my breakfast with this podcast!
Fav weird food combo is Peanut butter and fluff sandwich with potato chips on the sandwich. trust me, it is good, it's best imo with the classic lays

Weird food combo: PB on a cheeseburger. It is unreal delicious.
@Ryan Root Beer is actually "Aged Vanilla" that's why it's called Root beer, vanilla is a root and the beer part comes from the "aged" it's fermented vanilla... when I saw on the bottle one day "aged vanilla" I put 2 and 2 together and said out loud "I understand root beer" now... needless to say I got funny looks because that was all i said lol
@saffree
Ай бұрын
i can see where you get that but vanilla is the fruit of the orchid Vanilla, not a root. sure is yummy either way! :)
Just finished binge-watching Righteous Gemstones. Walton is great in that
The back and forth about the beach and asking Ryan "you've always lived near the beach, is it special to you?" Feels the same as being a native Floridian (growing up just a few miles from coastline) and people asking if you go all the time when you've only been like 6 times.
At church camp when I was a teenager we created the "Dewy River." It's a float made with strawberry ice cream and Mt. Dew and it slapped. Most memorable part of church camp tbh
"roach update cont'd" right after "roach update" us killing me 🤣
also on a less deranged note. I love getting to know Steven better through this podcast. Y'all are lovely dudes.
I feel like it’s common now, but hot fries dipped in a Wendy’s Frosty always slaps
Best part of my Monday routine
Melon and prosciutto is a staple of summers in spain. Coke and wine too, since forever. It's called kalimotxo
Hear me out boys - this is a favorite meal in my household: oven baked/ roasted plantains loaded with canned chili, mozz. & jalapenos (bonus points if you use the TJ's sweet & hot ones)
A food combo from my childhood: peanut butter + marshmallows, microwaved & mixed. Also: Ryan's phases with hobbies/interests definitely reminds me of my own phases that were very much linked to ADHD... so many expensive hobbies that went nowhere! 😅
If you're ever in Portland again! There's a spot in south Portland, in Milwaukie, called the "Main Street Collectors Mall & Soda Fountain." It is, as the name suggests, a combination old timey soda fountain and antique store. It's my favorite place in the whole city. My husband loves their floats. Highly recommend!!
I grew up in the LA area, and the only times I will get in the water at the beach is when it’s over 100° out and the coldness of the water actually feels good
Cheez-Its and M&Ms are a divine combo
Hiya from Alabama! Both sprinkling salt on watermelon and peanuts in Coca Cola are things my great grandparents loved and passed to us. Farmers would pour a handful of shelled peanuts into a glass coke bottle as a drink and snack while on a tractor. I grew up in Dothan which is also known as the “peanut capital.”
I grew up with grilled cheese and applesauce. I didn’t know everyone else had tomato soup until maybe adulthood. My verdict: I like the butter+cheese+sweet combo better. Also buffalo wings and honey mustard.
A block of extra sharp cheddar is great by itself or with apple slices
Nottingham (Shottingham) mentioned! Oh wow AND Alton Towers - the Midlands representation we deserve
well now we know that Adam Bianchi has to be the guest for weird food combos, with his "root beer and chocolate cereal" comment from TSR 😂
My favorite odd food combo is tomato soup with scrambled eggs in it. I've been eating it since I was a child, my mom has been eating it since she was a child too. It was "poor food" - a cheap meal when money was tight. Now one of my favorite nostalgic foods. Must try!
My food suggestion: my mom would make me tuna fish and fruit loop sandwiches for my school lunches. I got a lot of crap for it, but when I would convince people to make one for themselves they always like it.
I feel like there has been a glitch in the matrix, because I too, always order a French dip at every restaurant I go to when it's available and have for a decade or more. Lmao! My friends always give me shit that French dips is my sole field of expertise but God damn it I have a brother out there it seems! Shout to you Carl! Hahaha!!
I literally was eating string cheese when Ryan said people don't eat cheese on its own 🤣
sometimes i love to mix kraft mac and cheese with pesto. not all the time, i’ll also have the mac and cheese by itself, but the pesto adds a tanginess that’s so good. i’ve never tried it with other mac and cheese
Purely commenting for Matt’s chime off on RootBeer being gross!!! It’s my boyfriend’s favorite drink and I’m always GROSSED out when I have a sip. Like I always try and see if I’ll like it after a few months and it’s always the same gross flavor that I never want! Dr Pepper is number one but a Coke SLAPS every time
FOOD COMBOS; One food combo that we have in Sweden is shripmsallad on hot dog, one of my teachers that i had when i lived in Amarica thought it was weird and for us its common, hot dog on bun with shrimp-sallad, which is shrimp, mayo, sourcream mixed (with seasoning), kinda like potato sallad
My favorite "weird" food combo is a peanut butter and sriracha sandwich. It's good with a little squeeze of lime juice too
Try the Dutch, but well-known, 'kapsalon'! It's fries, with Shoarma or Gyros, but into the oven with cheese and then topped with lettuce/onions/cucumber/tomato slices and garlic sauce. It tastes so nice and is a real delicacy here!
Weird food combos meant to be eaten together: Battered/fried cod tongues and scrunchions (fried pork backfat) lol! It's commonly eaten (in moderation hahaha) where I'm from, the island portion of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Also...come to Newfoundland! Lots of haunted places, fantastic food, and an awesome arts community.
two weird food combos. spaghetti and sauce with ranch dressing ; popcorn dipped in Heinz ketchup
the cockroach is what Shane gets for playing Lethal Company, they're coming for him irl
Just watched Lord of Misrule today, and one of the main characters is definitely Shane Madej's father with Alan Rickman's voice.
Ryan: this isn’t about you. Ryan’s root beers needs to be a thing. Make it happen!
The perfect mix of beer (not the flavored ones) and coke, legit tastes like chocolate. I love it!
Here’s a food combo one of my students brought me. Wouldn’t have tried it normally, but she stood there until I did: Mayonnaise and banana sandwich. Big in the South apparently. It was surprisingly good! Would eat again 😅

Ginger ale float with ice cream is good! My grandfather called it a Horses Neck
watermelon and tajin/salt is SO GOOD! goated food combo… i can’t have watermelon plain now!
Not just watermelon with (very light) salt, also try cantaloupe with a hint of salt. That is divinity of fruity goodness.

56:22 You guys HAVE to try Capirotada, imo it’s a dish made with weird food combos lol it’s a Mexican dish so I wonder if Ryan has tried it?!
25:06 I used to have a spot in Santa Monica where me and my friends would go at night and just hang out on the beach talking, smoking and listening to music. It was so nice... Haven't done that in years!
Recently tried a kimchi peanut butter and jelly sandwich and it was FIRE
Chees and jam great combo And a great middle ground for the soda float debate Dr. Pepper float is a-mazing
against my protestations, my friend threw frozen meatballs in the slow cooker with a jar of BBQ and a jar of grape jelly and it was shockingly good and next time i have to bring something to a party it will be this dish (to zhuzh it up, apparently you just have to add whiskey!)
I always loved peanut butter cookies/brownies with dill pickles. My dad eats peanut butter and green pepper sandwiches.
You guys can try a Smoke and a Pancake

Ahh. Fries and a chocolate frosty are so good. ❤ root beer is delicious but ive never finished a float in my life. 😂 Yay for Shane getting that roach! 😂😂
1:00:00 never been prouder of Matt than when he recommended having John from Galco's on the soda pop ep of Top 5 Beatdown
Nutella and goat cheese sandwich... I tried it while at the "School of Cheese" in San Francisco many years ago, and it still boggles my mind how good it was.
I worked at Red Lobster 🦞 and my favorite thing to top a Cheddar Bay Biscuit🧄🧀🥐 with was.... (their) Piña Colada sauce! 🍍 (Kind of in the same vein as my other fave: Grape Jelly on Texas Toast/Garlic Bread) 😂 Warm Garlicky Buttery bread with cold refreshing fruity sauce... THERE'S JUST SOMETHIN ABOUT IT.
There's a popular TikTok going around of how in many Southern Sonic locations you can ask for pickles in your Dr Pepper. They just put a few of the sliced ones from the sandwiches on top and then she stirred them in with her straw. So maybe try that?
dunno if this counts as "weird" but my friends say they've never thought of it, if you have rose water put anywhere between half to a capful in matcha. its so good! i love putting flower extract in them with a little bit of vanilla extract to make it smoother and a little sweet. (this is mainly for steven)
Kool-Aid Pickles. My friend brought them into the office one day and they were really good!
Two wacky and good ice creams I have had: balsamic vinegar ice cream (esp the reduced vinegar) and mustard ice cream (that fancy stone mustard).
55:52 - Pickles and Pepsi drink please. Easy for you guys to obtain and do: just literally Pepsi, ice, and some sliced pickles. Try that, real curious if you guys will like it or not. And yeah Matt, root beer is nasty.
yess i was looking for something to play while cleaning my room😫
Rootbeer floats yummm
Happy birthday, Shane 🎉
28:20 Don’t know if the boys have been swimming in the north atlantic off the coast of the us but the reason the east coast has much warmer water is because we have the gulf stream bringing up warm water from the south, not bc it just heats up more 😅
Ramen noodles on buttered bread slaps
