Tom Felton was actually requested specifically by the directors for his role in Planet of the Apes. He wrote about it in his autobiography "Beyond the Wand." He doesn't know why they specifically wanted him to play the role, but he was thankful for the opportunity regardless.

Yes, accusations get those other channels attention but you have the trust and respect of both believers and skeptics alike, that is not an easy thing to achieve in the ghost hunting world.
