You're probably thinking of a ghille suit. Actually, it just looks like a guy in camo clothes. Right at the beginning of the clip, when he turns you can see the separation of the jacket from the pants (dark horizontal line) and later there is a shadow on the upper part of the face/head from the jacket hood.

Not a primate expert, but Im a biologist, I just wanted to add that even though we discover new species every day, they are usually small insects or something like that, in a very remote place. Its very improbable, if not impossible, that a gigantic mammal living in north America was not discovered yet. Also IF it was real, it doesnt matter if it lives 100 years, it needs a stable population to live, we would have seen it. And Im not even going to mention the underwater thing hahaha

As a fellow biologist, I completely agree. The talk about hibernating primates, the human lifespan being 100 years, and gorillas being cannibals was making me laugh out loud and bang my head simultaneously 😂. No way there are large primates wandering around North America in secret. Every time I see large cryptids my first questions are always, well what are they eating to maintain that body mass? And then, if there’s only a few, what about genetic variation issues, inbreeding, genetic drift? I’m super fun at parties… 😅

When I was 18 I went by myself to get my septum pierced. The piercer got the needle HALF WAY IN and said "oh shit" pulled it out, wiped the blood out of my nose and said "I'll give you a minute and we'll try again", being young and nervous I AGREED. I'm totally with Shane on this one. It's not him "not having an opinion", it's that like... he needs to develop a methodology for how to approach developing the opinion. He's just thinking about it a lot more deeply than the others, because he really, genuinely, wants to find legitimate reason to believe in it, and he can't do that unless it is absolutely irrefutable through scientific method. If we're talking in serious scientific terms, Shane's actually correct about how theories work. Theories in the scientific world aren't just off-the-cuff ideas. They are founded in pre-existing scientific knowledge. I.e., the Theory of Relativity. ofc I understand that it's fun to spit-ball possibilities between friends, but Shane's approach is totally valid, and it's refreshing when people state that they don't have enough knowledge to form a legit opinion

To Shane's question about the "why 30 seconds?" It's because there is short term memory that is temporarily stored to help with small fluctuations in power. So, if you unplug it and plug it back in immediately, it could still have the same "settings" that are causing the issue. I think it's more like 2-10 seconds, but they say 30 seconds (I guess for people who count too fast?).

The couple of things Steven has shared about his relationship sound so healthy and kind. It’s very refreshing to hear and it’s super sweet! Good for them 🩷

Shane’s barber was Sweeney Todd. 6/10. Haircuts a little painful, but oddly good meat pies. Side note I LOVE Shane’s hair. It always looks great

as a retail employee-who also happens to work at costco-thank you, shane, for putting everything back where you got them 💖

it is so interesting that of the three of them, steven is probably the closest to a scientist (because of his chemical engineer background) and yet he has no stakes at all in the mystery/ghost files content. like his shows aren't about investigating anything, they are just good wholesome vibes.

Shane PLEASE make a docu type show where you do the research and interview scientists and debunk all the cryptids I'd 1000% watch that

I actually was working for the special effects shop that created the prop to make footprints for Survivor Man's bigfoot special. He used our foot prop to make tracks somewhere in the San Bernardino mountains to trick viewers until the end of the special. This was back in 2015. I think there's footage out there of him meeting with my former boss.

Steven just sitting there while Ryan and Shane argue about Bigfoot and cryptids 😭 please It was a real delight to hear about all of yalls haircut experiences though, I also struggle a lot to find a person that I would consistently go to to cut my hair. I found that I most liked my hair when I was cutting it myself but to be honest I'm too lazy and it's always so hard to get the back of my head...

listening to random talks about hairstyles and cut experience of 3 guys is so unusual of me but i find it still interesting 😅 just shows the charisma these three have.

My husband once used a dull butcher knife to cut a lime, it slipped and he cut his finger. Blood spurted into the ceiling (which he still hasn’t cleaned off years later) and he had to get stitches. I’m like.. why are you cutting a lime with a butchers knife?! 😂

My brother was once cutting... I think it *was* bread, actually. This was many years ago when me and my siblings all still lived with our parents and I don't completely remember. Whatever he was making, the knife slipped and he cut his finger so badly and cleanly you could see the fibrous texture of the connective tissue below the white fattiness of the subcutaneous layer, just above the bone. He later described the wound to me in vivid detail, in true biology-nerd fashion. From memory, four stitches were required? Of course, this is not what I was told at the time. All I heard was my mum shouting up the stairwell at me and my sisters-- 'Girls! Scavenge the kitchen for dinner! Your brother's chopped off his finger and I'm taking him to the hospital!' It's hard to say if we were more confused or concerned. Anyway, he's a doctor now so... mind those scalpels.

the funniest bit about Ryan making fun of Shane’s serious questions about Bigfoot for scientists as if there isn’t any listening to their podcast is that we, a bunch of life scientists, actually play Watcher videos during our team meetings to destress. He’s actually right about theories!

The Bigfoot - to me, anyway - looks like a hunter with terrain-specific camouflage.

The haircut conversation reminded me that men have a rich inner world that is lovely and brings us together over small everyday things. The Bigfoot conversation reminded me that Steven Lim and I have a lot in common.

The paper barbers put around your neck is called a sanex strip. It's used for sanitation purposes to make sure cutting capes don't touch customers' skin directly since a cape may touch more than one customer in a day. For each service-- cutting, coloring, perming, etc-- there is a list of sanitation procedures and set ups we have to follow. That's partially why cosmetologists go to school for 1600 hours (in the state of CA) and take 2 state board tests before getting licensed: to learn and enforce proper sanitation and health procedures. Barbers go to school for even longer than that, actually!

I definitely relate to what Steven said! I'm a Midwest Asian and I was thinking about getting a haircut soon but I don't trust local salons with my hair 'cause they just don't style it right for my face ever.

Not Midwestern but it definitely resonated with me too! My mom cut my hair for the first 9-10 years of my life and when I finally asked to go to a salon, it was a bit nightmarish 😭 Now, we go to Vietnamese salons about 40 min away for the price and expertise. Hair stylists will just never stop commenting on how thick and coarse my hair is and just hearing that will set off my fight-or-flight 😅😅

Shane is absolutely correct in his approach of theorizing within a field of expertise that isn't his. And as s/o working in analytical science, I hereby prove that people like me are the audience of this podcast. BAM! Oh, and that Bigfoot looks exactly like a Wookie, I am surprised that none of you noticed this. I say it's either a guy in a Wookie costume, or Chewbacca on the run from Itchy and Lumpy.

You know, I'd love to see a camping/ wilderness show with these three where they just go hiking out somewhere and spend a night or two.
