RIP John, Joe and Harold.
2:15 Love the truth in media that everyone laughs at and then dismisses. Also RIP Joe Flaherty.

Are you kidding. I'll say 99 percent of Internet people agree Moe's rant should have ended.
From its first moments on the air to its final sign off, Joe was the foundation of the SCTV nation..tho we lost him today, his brilliant comedic legacy will live on for years to come. rip Count, My Count...& give our love to LaRue...
Searched for this after watching Bill Maher. I didn’t know solar panels and money shelters jokes went this far back.
Earl Cammenbert in a necktie?? WOW!!!!
Thank you. SCTV was awesome

He's hilarious in later episodes. His best sketch has to be do it yourself dentistry tho. Someone said Dave Thomas switched a prop bottle of booze with real rum and Harold's reaction is funny AF

Funny, Ramis used the line “no ailment to small, no fee too high” here, which reminds me of Venkman’s similar line in Ghostbusters.

Love this show and all of the kooky characters....great comedians
You're doing God's work, putting these up. Some of them are impossible to find. Maybe, someday, they'll make these early seasons available on DVD or streaming. Thanks!

Won't happen. Would love to see it on DVD, Blu-Ray or streaming, but it won't happen. One major factor is rights issues with music, especially in the early years when they used a lot of copyrighted music. In that sense "SCTV" could be considered street art.

I'm going through some tough times recently and these are really soothing. I really wish these guys remaining would do a reunion, Especially the news show!
I used to watch this on cable, on WOR ch. 9 from New York, in the late 70's as a teenager. Bennie Hill was on the air at that time too. Man, TV was great back then!

WOR's airing of "SCTV" in its first two years in U.S. syndication was most ironic - as Channel 9 was every bit as uber-cheap and no-budget in its operation (as were RKO General's other TV properties) as the fictitious "SCTV."

John Candy died of heart disease , not to long after I had the same diagnosis. My son, my only child died last year at age 39 , of the same heart disease that nearly killed me and took away my beloved son, and John, and so many others. Valentines Day will never be the same. Rest in Peace,

Canada! Where’d you go wrong and why/ Canada! Why’d you go wrong and why? This skit rings true so much!
Thanks for sharing! This is the show that launched a comedy empire - early SNL was funny, but SCTV was even funnier! If only there were a show half this good on TV today.

Based on that initial segment alone, I've long wondered if the name "Johnny La Rue" was a riff on exercise guru (and early TV personality) Jack La Lanne - this in spite of the La Rue character being entirely opposite in terms of lifestyle. But that Mr. Candy subsequently died of heart disease, I can see the sad irony in this.

Thanks Joe!!
I bought 4 dvds that were pretty expensive. Sadly, so much of the more hilarious stuff was not included which was so disappointing. Really appreciate channels like these that include all SCTVs best material. There's nothing like them.
LOL Johnny LaRue RIP John Candy, thanks for the laughs.

My favorite all-time best comedy troupe of the 70s. It was always brilliantly written and delivered! I never stop laughing at these skits. Much funnier than SNL playing around the same time.
Such great stuff when I found this first on a Canadian channel on cable.
It just NEVER got better than this. Pure BRILLIANCE!
I really love that my senses and taste in comedy fit in with this stuff - awesome show!
I remember seeing this when it first came on. I used to think it was so funny. I used to tell people about the Johnny LaRue melee. LOL My brother and I loved this show, but we could never see it. I thought it was awesome when they started airing it on Friday nights on NBC.
They were so young.
Many many Thanks, I am thrilled to find all of these
SCTV: my go to for high brow Yo Momma Jokes.
Of course, now we're in 1984 none of this would be allowed today...
I was swimming all morning
This is Awesome! Cheers Eh
Considering John Candy died when I was 1, it doesn't say much about what I watched growing up considering how many good memories I have of watching his work growing up.

@wmbrown6

That's how it started out in the first few episodes, before his name was shortened to what we all know today. Incidentally, would anyone in the Pittsburgh area of a certain age have any clue as to whom he modelled Floyd Robertson as SCTV News anchor (and presumably news director and managing/executive editor) after? I thought I saw some hints of Pittsburgh TV news legend Bill Burns in him . . . and (O')Flaherty grew up in Pittsburgh . . .

Thank you, thank you, thank you for uploading these. I will forever be mad at Scorsese for not airing the SCTV special he did a few years ago, especially now that Joe is gone. I have the DVDs, but they don’t have a track listing on the boxes or anything. It’s absolutely insane that this isn’t available anywhere. Any plans to upload the Network 90 episodes as they were, not the syndication cuts?
