(009) Remove Pair Valve Plates: 21-24

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video is dedicated to the 21-24 #NinjaZX10R Transformation Modifications Video Series. In this video, I'll be removing the Pair Valve Plates, installing PSR Block-Off Plates, and dressing up the wiring and engine seal cover. Nothing fancy here, just straight to the point.

What did you do with the plug that plugged into the air pump actuator,if its left unplugged wouldn’t it throw a code.

Good question. I believe your referencing the video "(012) Final Emission Deletion" at time marker 5:45. Correct me if my wrong. The solenoid that connects to the Air Flapper Valve chamber was disconnected and removed. The connector from the harness was taped off. When I sent my ECU to Moore Mafia to be flashed I provided a list of modifications that included the removal of this solenoid and associated flapper valve parts. Chris Moore then makes modifications to the ECU that includes disabling this function thereby preventing any error codes. The list of modifications can be found in the video titled "(005) Remove ECU & Mail to Moore Mafia to be Flashed" at time marker 10:36. Let me know if this answers your question. Thank you.

Rdkn06, you had a couple other questions (see below), but it wouldn't allow me to reply and I couldn't see the whole comment. Below are my answers. Rdkng06 replied: "Ninjaof1. Yes that’s exactly what I wanted to know, thanks for answering my question.is it worth installing block off plates, i have some and i am contemplating putting them on, i am going to also get ..." NINJAof1 response: If you're changing the air filter you may as well put the block-off plates on. I believe the combination of all the below contributes to thoroughly eliminate all emissions, allowing for the most optimum tune: -Removing the air in-take flapper valve/actuator/air flapper chamber/emission canister and associated hoses and solenoid -Capping off throttle body x5 -Capping the underside of the airbox where the pair valve hose connects -Installing race air filter (BMC, K&N, Sprint, etc.) -Remove pair valve plates, associated hoses and solenoid -Installing block off plates -Remove stock muffler and cat -Remove O2 Sensor and plug -Install after-market muffler and mid-pipe (M4, SC, Graves, etc.) -Install O2 sensor bung plug with copper washer -Optional: Replace headers with after-market brand I've heard the stock titanium headers on the 21-23 ZX10R limits peak horse power vs an after-market by possibly 4-5 more horse power. This may have something to do with how the pipes are bent and/or the size of the inner diameter. Stock, there is a 2-3 inch section of the header that has a smaller diameter as compared to where the muffler connects and where the 4 pipes collect into one. This may also contribute to limiting peak horsepower. Rdkng06 replied: "Ninjaof1 Yes that is exactly what i needed to know, thank you for answering my question, if you will i have another one, i am also interested in having my ecu flashed by Moore Mafia, how do you like i..." NINJAof1 response: The ECU Flash was one of the first things I did while I was modifying the rest of the bike. I already knew what mods I wanted, so I made sure I had all the parts and tools necessary before starting. I am very happy with the Moore Mafia ECU Flash. Moore Mafia had a very quick turn-around (2-3 days). I sent Moore Mafia a detailed list of the mods with the ECU and he made all the necessary changes in the ECU. The ECU is returned with detailed instructions for reinstalling. The price was fair as compared to a flash I did with another vendor almost 8 years ago. Chris also sells a diagnostic scanner so you can clear errors (easy to follow instructions). Sorry for the late response. I was hoping your comment would appear for a reply, but it just shows what I have above. Either way, let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks NINJAof1

Did you notice more or less flames or pops and crackles after this mod?

  • @NINJAof1

I'm not sure if this one mod alone would cause the popping and flames, but with a Moore Mafia ECU flash along with the other mods I'm doing it is definitely loud, cracking, and flammable. Chris Moore or any of the other popular dyno guys out there could tell you more about what exactly makes the popping and flames. I have an H2 with a Vandemon full titanium exhaust, K&N race air filter, block-off plates from Brocks (Pair Valve delete), and an ECU flash from Don Guhl. This one also shoots flames and pops. I'm not really looking for MAX HP out of the bikes I mod, but more of a power gain that keeps the bike safe from exploding and longevity. Thanks for the question, hope I answered it for you. Be sure to check out the video series to see how this ends. I think you'll like it.

@@NINJAof1 the 2019 has a recall for pair valves. Can I just leave them how they are and get a dyno tune and be fine?

  • @NINJAof1

@@jordan_.zx10r There are many ways to Remove/Disable PAIR valves. The most important thing is that if you disable by blocking the air intake line that comes from under the air box to the PAIR valves, or simply remove the entire PAIR valve plates, associated hoses, and solenoid, then block off the exit nozzle where the hose connected to the bottom of the air box, you will definitely need an ECU flash that includes disabling the PAIR valve solenoid throwing an error. With this understood we're now left with the recall. Go here and the site talks all about the recall. www.bikesrepublic.com/featured/kawasaki-ninja-zx-10r-recalled-in-the-us-air-suction-valves-may-cause-fire/ If you are going to remove the PAIR valves and install block-off plates it seems like this wouldn't be an issue as long as you tell your Tuner Person that you have removed the PAIR valve and replaced it with block-off plates. Hope that answers your question. Leave a Like. Thank you
