4.10 gear but never changed the speedo gear. Sounds good tho 😎

MF is way more than 10 mph off lmao. All 5 speed cars had either 2.73 or 3.08 gears. 4.10 gears are 25% shorter than 3.08 and 33% shorter than 2.73. So a 4.10 gear swap without changing the speedometer gear means that 100 mph on this speedometer is either 67 mph or 75 mph actual, depending on whether it was a factory 2.73 or 3.08 car. Even with a strong head/cam package you aren't doing 0-100 mph in 8 seconds. It took my C5 Z06 just under 10 seconds to hit 100 mph on the street at 352 whp and 3,080 lbs.

These cars were definitely quick for their time. I had a 91 LX with a stock shortblock, ported GT40 heads, Holley Systemax, FRPP “E” cam, Anderson Cold air, Hooker headers and SCT chip tuned it made like ~350 HP. Through a T-5 with 4:10s and a 8.8 TruTrac though that thing would move. I eventually ended up moving to “the dark side” and bought an LS1 powered WS6 Trans Am but that Fox was my bracket car for quite some time and it hurt a lot of feelings over the years.

I have a 89 grand marquis edlebrock 2.0 heads and with mild cam upgrade shift kit in AOD Trans and 3.73 gear and at 3725lb she gets down so I can only imagine ❤❤

so when you changed it from 85 Speedo to 140 top speed lol

william The car is a roller now lol. It’s getting a 355 in it. But at that time it just had the same old 302 ford motor with gt40p heads cobra intake 4.10 ford racing final gear drive ( really woke that thing up ) bbk shorty headers with 3 inch exhaust all the way down. I believe thats it. Really ran good for what it was.

@@lollollollol7515 that's very low oil pressure... which is pretty bad signs of future engine failure. I would check the oil pump which is no fun at all. At idle when warm the oil pressure should be no lower than 20psi Revving it to 2k and above should be at around 45psi and higher.

Joseph Pllumaj I'll list the mods It's got a junkyard 302 from a older explorer. E303 ford racing cam, ZEX 150 shot wet nos. BAMA chip, cobra intake, 70mm throttle body, GT-40 aluminum heads (ported), 24lb injectors, BBK equal length shorty headers, aluminum driveshaft, catback competition performance 3 inch exhaust. Drivetrain is trans of a foxbody cobra T-5. Short throw shifter, 4.10 ford racing gears ( which made a huge difference ). I want to do a 5 lug conversion to this. I'm afraid the 4 lug is too weak. Also I want to try out trick flows intake and manifold. Seems like it flows way better than the stock cobra intake.

Joseph Pllumaj The speedo is off by 10 to 8 mph. But it's not ment for the highway. Lol it's screaming at like 3000rpms at 60mph in 5th.

+Brendan McCarthy dammmm. 3000rpm at 60 😂 and stock internals, even with the stock block, it's unlucky the 4 lug will give up on you, but better safe than sorry, plus better wheels and brakes on 5 lugs, but were you spraying in this video?

Joseph Pllumaj No I wasn't spraying. I also have MK street cheater slicks Burnt them up at take off tho. Need to work on my take of on the street. But thanks man. Yeah the 302 still has the old internals. In the future I want to stroke it to 347.

The 4 cyl ones redline at 5 and go to 6 these go to 7 and redline at 6. The v8 also goes to 140 after 88-89 but they was all 85 previous to that

It’s way different now. But at the time of the video it’s got 4.10 gears Gt40p heads cobra intake e ford racing cam 32lbs injectors and a 240lph fuel pump. It was quick with m/t Cheaters on. But first gear was useless. Lol rip right through it.

Mustang 1979 -92 After that they were still kinda the same, but the 5 liter was swapped for the 4.6l modular V8

I think the factories lied about horsepower with these 90s sports cars. For example this car is only rated at 220 hp. There's no freaking way. They did the same thing with Vettes and Camaros that could easily do 170mph.

It's not that. It's that they're extremely light. In an era where Mustangs and Camaros weigh like 3800-4200lbs, these Foxbodies were like 3300lbs at their heaviest. So they have less weight to lug around. They also tend to *feel* faster than they really are due to, well, let's be honest, the lack of refinement and the rather cheap build quality. That said, nothing in the world could pry my '89 GT away from me.

@@JRC99 I don't know, man. I used to have 1988 IROC convertible with a TPI 5.7, and it would eat most Fox Bodies for breakfast. At the same time, I had a 92 Mustang GT convertible with a built 5.0. Both cars were fast, but not only did the stock Camaro get the Mustang off the line, it also had better top end speed and handling. Both extremely rare cars.
