0 - 100 years in Japan
Ойын-сауық
100 Japanese people, from baby to 100 year-old. In April 2023 I visited Japan and shot this version of the 0-100 year project mostly in Tokyo. Contrary to how I usually work, I did not hit the streets to randomly approach people to ask them to participate. Japan asked for a more formal approach, contacting people through several networks of local assistants and enthusiasts who were so kind to help out. The result is this lovely series.

@@Kawaiicandy504as an American, I will say being American plays into it. Japan is very strict with their formal and informal language. American English compared to other English speaking countries has a lot of slang and informal language. We Americans just don’t put in as much effort in language than other countries/languages do. While American English isn’t the worst sounding as someone ages, it isn’t the best either.

honestly videos like these put me at ease. Getting old sounds scary, but seeing how much I still have ahead of me is a little comforting. I wanna live until a 100, have kids and grandkids and do my best to give them the best childhood.
This is a beautiful realization that we're all the same and we keep coming and going. I just love people even more now. I don't know how to explain this feeling... there are so many of us in this world, but none of us is a special with the world revolving around them. This helps me realize what I really want to be before I turn that old and probably helpless.

I think your perception of the elderly was simply flawed, so now seeing humans of all ages displays truly how humans age. But, due to the video consisting of eastern humans rather than european humans, you instead attributed their surpringly young appearance to them being Japanese.

Amazing people and culture!! They are so polite!! I'm from Malaysia and we, as part of the Rotary Club was hosting some young Japanese traveller. I recall his name was Takeuchi. We all had dinner at a restaurant when unfortunately the subject of WWII inadvertently came up. Our guest Takeuchi-san stood up, bowed his head and with sadness and remorse apologized to us for Japanese atrocities in Malaya and the world during WWII. We were so surprised and taken aback. There was stunned silence... Then he sat down and we all smiled and continued our dinner in a happy but respectful mood. Takeuchi-san, wherever you are, all the best.

I appreciate Japan for what it is naturally, but I'm tired of these naive people who talk about its inhabitants as if they are absolute angels. I once met an arrogant Japanese girl who asked me to stop watching these videos, but I go where I want. she told me that reading my negative comments saddened her but I was telling the truth about her culture. what to do if you speak their language badly? she refused to admit that her compatriots have many cultural faults! these people have an ego and hypocrisy problem.

The last two ladies were born between 1922 and 1923. Let that sink in. I can't imagine what they have lived through and seen. They were probably around 17-18 years old when WW II started and had to live through that. Me at age 18 was sitting in my room, drinking energy drinks and playing video games all day. How different lives can be through different circumstances. Back then I thought I had "problems" in life. Nuh-uh, that was not even worth thinking about compared to what these elderly lived through.
