Roy Tiles is my new channel name and because of my age ( 76 ) I have decided to create many more videos in an effort to pass on my knowledge. The videos might only be short but, over the years, I've developed many ways to make the work that I do easier to accomplish and making videos is the easiest way to impart my knowledge. I have had great success in training both men and women to eventually becoming professional tilers and I feel confident that my videos can do the same for you.

Genius Roy, this looks perfect, I'm going to give it a go, thank you so much!
Nice watching your video. Thumbs up and subs done here @ Leyte Girl Channel.
What waterproofs the pool? The grout?
Love your comprehensive videos, easy to follow. My question is concerning cement repairs. I have small sections that need some attention and don't know exactly what type of cement to put. And I have thousands of small indentations (smaller than a dime no thicker than 1/8 inch deep. I am painting over everything. What do I use to fill the indentations? Thank you!
What kind of grout that sir?
How long did those tiles last? Are they still secure after a few freeze-thaw cycles?
At last someone who explanes how to do things the simple wayWell done roy👍👍👍👍👍👍
Man, Roy is great huh?
I can watch this over and over again, Love it ! 🙂
Roy, greatly you appreciate sharing your wealth of knowledge and years of experience.
It's funny to see the electric hammers still being used we srart3d out with those on floor and littl3 air powered zip guns / body hamers with pointed chesles wow thats a throughback .oved up to the big 3inch two foot long ones w 2 inch flat chisles run on 90 cmf 7:29 7:30
I worked for Evans/Radford pool pool plastering in san diego . We were the origanle company who first started using jack hammers and striping the plaster all completely off to ensure the best bond possible!! And they were right they removed EVERY SPEC OF WHITE FROM THE GUNITE recently 2as at a house where I bricked a d tiled a pool tbeen Evans/ Radford plastered it over 35 years ago a t it looks new still ot a loose brick tile Ora single thing g ever needed fixing !!!it was maintained by someone who knew how to properly take care of it and that helps
in Australia lots of assholes spot fix their tiles. This method is way better already, large tile is heavy and the ridges will collapse , not to worry. Love this technik and will definitely try it.
And the next row…what if there was a higher spot elsewhere?
thanks
Why didn’t you butter the back ? The chances of shitty adhesion is very high
Amazing and beautiful installation! You’re very professional, skilled and competent! Thank you for sharing your techniques!
Eats glass dust for breakfast
super thank you learnt a lot
Are you taking on anymore work? Our pool needs regrouting/ resurfacing. No tiling. Thanks
If you have to hit it with a hammer you probably don't need to bust it out. If you put another coat of plaster over that and fill the pool with water there's no way that's going to pop up.
Thank you! So appreciative of your time spent to share your knowledge with novices. God bless and thanks. Very informative
Fantastic video. Are you using epoxy resin grout or normal grout. I am thinking of using epoxy grout.
Hi Roy, building a ICF pool what kind of water proof product do you recommend before applying the tile? Love your videos👍
Do you need a general contractor licenses to do swimming pool tile ?
Thank you Roy. You gave me confidence that I can tile my fish pond. You are down to earth with plenty of skills and experience.
Brilliant as they say in your neck of the woods! Thank you.
oi hi hugo its cesar tudo bem ?
What a great video. I'm just at the planning stage of doing around my pool. This has taken away some concerns. Well done
did he stain the coping stones ?
Better if you do the repairs before cleaning the pool. You have to clean the grinder dust by cleaning the pool again.
Hello, Mr. Roy. Do you need to add HYDRO BAN Cementitious Waterproofing before adding the cement? I am trying to do my own pool, thank you.
Roy when your tiling over tiles do you need to bond the tiles or score them 🤔
Looks great Roy. We have a cylindrical plunge pool. How would I use this to do the curved walls please?
Hello Roy, you do nice work. Is there any reason you cant use large tiles on the floor and walls and small tiles at pool bottom edges ???????
I like to at least wet them, seems to help them adhere
Top job mate
great stuff. thanks for sharing this content. those tiles looked amazing
found your channel today, and i wanted to say thank you for taking some of the anxiety away from the thought of doing this work myself. appreciate it!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sir. You are an absolute genius!
Do not follow this hacksaws advise. That is not how you tile a pool.
Well it sure looks good. Everything he said and did worked and shows expertise. Appreciate his skill maybe old school. But clearly been doing it for a very long time.❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂
@@lynettefindlay84it will fail. Let’s see a 5 year update, that tile is popping off left and right. You wouldn’t know though because you actually think he is doing it right. Good luck with that.
That looks really good.
Good idea.. but the one of the main reason we do backbutter on the tile is get rid of the dust on the back of the tiles and enhance the bonding to the surface. Tilers are not just laying couple of tiles. Heaps more than that. Also depends on the weather adhesive surface will be dry quickly. Backwater will help to bonding that case as well..
Great video! Question, while the tile will last "for my life time", what about the grout? Don't i have to regrout every 5 to 10 years? Does that mean i have to go line by grout line, taking it off to apply new grout?
Thanks for your advice, I finished successfully my first pool renovation last week, this videos help me a lot in that process. ❤ from 🇪🇨 Ecuador.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You are simply amazing at your skill set. You have so much knowledge and experience to share. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your talent
In know I'm 5 years late to this video, but I have a question for anyone who may want to respond. Is it more or less expensive to do a tile pool then to have a pool replastered ? I'm currently looking into having my pool redone. Its an ingrown pool currently plastered I'm considering having it done in tile instead of plaster. Nothing fancy, just ceramic or porcelain mosaic. I understand it last a lot longer than plaster and easier maintenance. Thanks for anyone who may reply, I've got 2-3 months of pool season left before getting serious about redoing the pool.
