This is why it's important to always read the tutorial properly.
It's not something that needs to be figured out, it tells you when you get torrent.
I had to relearn this after taking a few months off before the dlc. Like half way through the dlc i accidentally clicked it and realized how dumb i am

Also IMO one of the best STR weapons in the game, it's damage is nuts
Don't worry it took me 1 entire elden ring run to figured out how to summon spirits
