You mention modifying Zenith Carburettors for Bugattis, I wish you’d do a video about that. I have had 36mm Zeniths on my type 30 and they gave me a lot of problems, as the needle valve wears they run leaner and leaner and the float height is difficult to adjust. I’m using 30mm barrel throttle Solexes now but they choke the engine so I struggle to get above 2700 RPM. I assume you remove the “mechanism” above the float, but what do you do to replace the needle valve?

I suspect original coating was celluloid (nitrocellulose), possibly dipped while slowly rotating, then removed from dip and kept rotating until hardened (rotated to avoid runs)

Love all of Ivan’s videos. In this one, his description of how the driveshaft was trying to come through the shaft tunnel at Brands Hatch brought back memories of when just before Christmas many years ago, my 72 Capri 2600 rear shaft coupling was on its way out and I was hoping I could make it home before it let loose. Well I 😂didn’t, and there I was about 3 miles from home, and it was snowing to boot. Called AAA for a tow service and had it flatbedded home. As we pulled into the neighborhood with the wrecker, the streets were all lit up for Luminaria like an airport runway with cables burning in paper bags about every 6 feet, and everyone out Christmas Caroling in the streets to welcome us back in. Wish I had a video of it.

For Buick engines you need to pack the external oil pump with Vasoline in order to get it to prime with oil. Would have worked perfectly for you too.

The fore-and-aft location of the DeDion tube is via 4 trailing links. What is the lateral location? From the shape of the tube, I suspect it is a Watt's linkage.

Did I spy a Sprite with a Speedwell Bonnet? I met the late John Sprinzel in Cokato Minnesota. The late Paul Weidner was there with his modified Sprite, bearing what Paul understood to be a Speedwell fiberglass bonnet. Paul asked John to sign the inside of the bonnet, and John happily complied. I later asked John if Paul's bonnet was a genuine Speedwell. "I have no idea. We made early ones in aluminium and I can tell if one of those is genuine, but with the GRP ones, I can't be sure." I never told Paul. Paul was taken far too soon. I hope to live as long as John.

Wow. On the opening montage, I saw the inboard disk brakes. That didn't look early-Seven to me! Nice to see where he got that setup. Wonderful. I have a Caterham with the DeDion rear, but the disk brakes are outboard.
