    Hi. I saw this video recommending the Aladdin Equipment 750B Skimmer No Niche Type, Black, and decided to buy it on Amazon for my koi pond. I initially installed using a 1600 gph then replaced it using a 4000 GPH submersible pump opposite my waterfall, just like you showed in your video. However, I'm experiencing an issue: the black skimmer section floats slightly above the water level, preventing trash from flowing into the basket. I contacted the manufacturer, but they were very rude and told me to contact the seller. Do you have any idea why this might be happening or how I can fix it? I appreciate any recommendations you can offer to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance for your help!

  • @chu0435
    @chu0435Ай бұрын

    Hi there, if the float section not skimming the surface of the water than that mean most of the suction is happening at the bottom of the pipe, you need to cut back the expose part at the bottom of the skimmer and force the pump to suck water from the top skimmer, good luck

    When it gets really cold and you think your de-icer might not keep up you can always drop in a small pump and point the outlet towards the surface to keep the water stirred up on the surface to keep from freezing over. Just a suggestion. I love your thinking on all of your filters. 👍

    What are you doing for the biological filer? Mechanical filtration only removes the big muck waste. Your benificial bacteria is what keeps your water crystal clear. Once a week is still a lot in my opinion. But then again you do have way too big of a fish load.

    Your videos are fantastic! After watching your review of the "Best Ponder Skimmer," I decided to buy one from Amazon for our pond. Now, I'm eager to expand our pond with 100 small koi, but I'm a bit uncertain about setting up the grow tank. It would be amazing if you could create a video demonstrating how you built and connected your koi grow container. Thank you once again for providing such valuable content!

    how deep is your pond? if the surface freezes over, the ice will insulate the rest of the pond and the koi will be able to survive but only if the pond is 4 ft or deeper. looking at the video, it looks like it's only 2 ft deep?

    Yes if you feed a large amount of food all at once, what I usually do is take off the top part of the skimmer while feeding a large amount all at once but if I hand feed my kois then I don't need to because they will eat the food before it gets sucked in the skimmer

    I feel like heating the water is a more efficient way of heating the whole space, heating the air and it will just dissipate. Heating the water will dissipate too but into the greenhouse air and then dissipate to outside.

    Nice setup mate, im in the process of finishing my own greenhouse aquaponics build. When i build my final iteration id like to do something like Goliad Farms, basically the floor of the greenhouse becomes the sump. Just a big pond liner and then build footpaths and growbeds on top of it.

  • @chu0435
    @chu04354 ай бұрын

    I just checked Goliad Farm, wow that's an amazing idea, if I saw that greenhouse design before I built mine, I mostly likely incorporate that design into my greenhouse, my head already spinning with ideas hahaha. Good luck with the build

    Thank god you got up early enough to save them, I would have freaked out, same thing happened to me and my pond, woke up just in time to see them struggling in minimal amount of water, they could not swim. I just turned on the hose and filled it back up and threw in something to take out the chlorine. Your fish are beautiful, last week my electricity was switched off and I lost 8, of my big and medium sized koi’s, I cried like a baby. So much that people have to be aware of when keeping koi’s. Do you think black creek will ship to the Caribbean? Thanks for responding! Really beautiful koi’s, you have there omg!

    perhaps an emergency winter cover is needed & even an aquarium heater just to keep a small area clear of ice 🤔 the thing I learned many, many years ago is we keep water & if we are successful at that, the fish take care of themselves 😊 I absolutely love the fact that you have done this yourself ❤
