I'd love to see this set-up step by step. I don't have my filtration system set up yet but I have 2 55 gallon tanks that I plan to use with a 300 gallon stock tank. Awesome job you have done though.

Thank you! I don't have a video of a step by step build. But a 2 55 gallon and a 300 gallon tank should be plenty for your build depending on how big is your pond and stock capacity. For your scenario I would use 2 pumps: run the skimmer to one of the 55 gallon and run the bottom pump to the other 55 gallon then both tanks will run to the 300 gallon tank then will refund back to the pond. Good luck

Hi Greg! Big fan of your channel! I love all your pond builds, they are really thoughtful and beautiful. You are correct wetlands are the best that aside my designs are leaning towards all the DIY'er and cost cautious people :-)

Very cool! I wish I had the space and climate to do this. I know it would be a lot of work, but I think you can improve on the bottle caps like by drilling holes or cutting slots in them. It would allow for more flow and surface area. Of course, you do have double or more of what you might need already, but it is still worth considering.

I thought about drilling holes on the caps back then but it would be too much work hahaha

Great job! I borrowed your venturi trick for my biofilter stock tank (waterfall). Unfortunately water just pours out of the pipe.(4800psi pump) So attached a 2' extension to it. No luck not bringing in air. I'll try cleaning the media in the stock tank. Any suggestions?

You have to reduce your pipe size that goes into the 2" T so the force will be stronger so I can suck the air in

Are you using a bell siphon on your aquaponics beds or are you just using a constant height and overflow for your water? Also, what type of rocks are you using? ive done the vinegar tests on bagged pea gravel from big box stores in the dfw area and it showed me that those rocks were not suitable for use in aquaponics. Now, that being said, im finding out very quickly that a lot of what is said online about aquaponics is not true. My setup runs at 5.8-6.0 ph and those numbers would drive the aquaponics masters nuts!🤣

For this system I am using a constant height and overflow because this system acts as a filtration for the pond. The aquaponics system in my greenhouse I used a timer 15 minutes on and 15 off so it drained the whole bed until the pump is on again. I used river rock as my media but pea gravel and river rock should be fine as long you thoroughly wash them before use. I don't really care about the PH in fact I don't even have a tester kit for it. I believe eventually mother nature will set the PH to whatever is best for your system just like the wild lol, the goal is to keep it simple and mother nature will do the rest.
