Welcome to the StoneFace Garage channel.
I am currently documenting the ongoing construction of a rare Victress C3 Coupe.
For more information on the Victress, and the historical era of American fiberglass sports cars that it represents, I highly recommended checking out UndiscoveredClassics.com
This particular car was owned by Merrill Powell, from whom I purchased it. Mr Powell was in fact a VP of Victress in the 50's and actually designed the Victress Coupes in 1952-1953!
This shell was made by the LaDawri Coachworks (which had acquired the molds), in 1965, shortly before they went out of business. This is perhaps then one of, if not, THE last of the Victress C3/ LaDawri Castilians ever made.
The original owner and builder never completed the car, and it sat in a Detroit warehouse for over 40 years, before finally being acquired by Merrill.
Please subscribe and set notifications to see the videos as the build proceeds on this unique, historical project.
Thanks,
MHG

Where is the telescoping feature?
@davidachten1162 It's the short outer shaft that slides out, tightened by the star wheel which is actuated by the ring just behind the horn.
Hey mate, my steering shaft has collapsed. Do you know if there is a rebuild kit or something for it? I’m a bit lost and feels weird to just pull it out to the right length and leave it
@fletcherlesueur try ebay motors or junkyard. I know its Tempting to plug weld or drill in a shear pin or something ..
Ian’s Jethro Tull cover band.
Maddening to do all that with the engine IN the car...
Thanks for posting 928 content.
60 seconds? Must be chinese workers 😂
I don't understand. It is really necessary cover such amount of land in asphalt?
👍
And a company wanted to charge me 20k for one..phhsshhh. what a joke.
Great crew, very admirable work!
they weren't lyin
*king of the hill intro intensifies*
did all that in 60 seconds so fast
One can only admire such a quality work.
You are joking?
@@andiewand9452 what's wrong with it? Except for the fact its this kinda ugly tarmac
That was incredible. What a band.... wow . The dancing while playing the flute was simply amazing only to be surpassed by the flute playing. jezzzzz. - not to mention how great and odd the song is.
My favourite album was 'Stand Up'. All killer no filler.
Mine too. Still have it on vinyl. Love the pop-up characters
I am the President of your fan club. Thank you so much for your help.
Thanks for posting it looks like a solid option for power wipers on my old truck
Yes especially if it had old vacuum operated ones!
Hi, great video. I took my 72 column apart to change the lock cylinder. After putting the lock plate back there telescopic shaft is jammed in the bottom position and won't move. It moved freely before. Any idea why this could be?
I figured it out myself. I didn't see the groove on the shaft and when it was at the very bottom the retainer ring did not go into that groove, but rather pushed against the shaft and locking it. Maybe worth mentioning that it can't be in its bottom position when putting the retainer ring on?
Great video! Can you reshare the link that has the directions?
The site was shut down. If you send an email address I can send copies.
people are conditioned to enjoy they fake lives so that anything natural and simple makes them crazy
Crufts for cars. Don't you just love it ? And listen to the sound coming from that glorious GTO. (Did Enzo and his guys consciously make that a design parameter back in the day, I wonder ?) 👽🏁
That was a Giotto Bizzarini design. It was ALL intuitive aerodynamic body design with no tunnel testing. Those early folk had a way with seeing air.
Is that u breathing heavy or the dog....
Ha! I watched the entire video for the horn assembly. Then the back-order explanation. The joke's on Me!🤣🤣🤣Still a good video. Everything assembled like clockwork.
Thanks. Planning to show the horn when I finish making my custom steering wheel later this year. Come back and visit again!
Thanks
Nice !!! Thanks for sharing ! Exceptional work thanks for passing it on ! Definately earned a subscriber here. Keep it up love the content.
Looks awesome....That Drive shaft is too short......Its worth getting it done now. The slip flange will have too much play like it is. or get a spacer at the back diff flange. You can probably buy a longer rear flange.
Don't think so. Corvette diff is fixed of course, and this is the shaft that came on the chassis. SBC and tranny all stock dimensions.
Nice work. I've used epoxy and glass for years in boat construction. How is the Coosa board holding up? I see it's been about 3 years since your installation. Contemplating a full glass car build using the same boat building techniques with a combination of Coosa and Divinycel foam core construction.
The car is not on the road ...yet...but the floor/flange construction is unaffected by all the activity- sparks, weld splatter, solvent spills, exhaust heat, etc so far.
Going fast through the steps made this video almost useless. All the integration required for the dimmer/ wiper switch pieces would have been useful
Thanks for posting. I'll know what to do when it happens.
Mark needs a good challenge.....
another innovative challenge and solution....
Thanks for posting. Will be inspecting mine.
Thank you so much for this!!!
"On a Budget" ...with and on a 928? Got deep pockets?
All budgets are relative. Parts can be found used and otherwise, lots of technical support is available, and my own skill and labor is free. Stay tuned and see.
@@Stoneface_Garage I concur on all what you say!
Thanks for posting.

im looking for the bearring kit you have
I don't recall where I got it. Try the corvette catalogs, maybe even rockauto.
Thanks for the info Mate. I'm trying to do the column on my sister's Trans-Am here in Australia. Still having a lot of trouble getting the pivot pins out. Can't believe how complicated these Chevy columns are! Funny this, they're almost identical on the outside to our HZ Holden columns. But the good thing is they have about a third of the parts inside...So much easier to work on. Seriously, could Chev have made these anymore complicated?...
a nightmarish contraption with cables going to switches, zillions of parts cluster-fuck engineering job.
@@jackmccauley5042 No shit! I've worked on this thing off and on for weeks now. I've had to pull it apart 3 times, and now something wrong internally. The shaft is now catching on something inside and I can't get the pivot pins out. They just spin in either direction and don't come out.
I have a 1982 corvette with this T&T Steering wheel. The ignition locking lever is loose and now i cant get the ignition to rotate to off. do i have to pull the column to diagnose and fix the problem with the lever?
You can get to ìt with the column in the car. Good Luck!
Just a teaser...check out the channel now!
Another quick question can you please help me with about the ball bearing rings? I’ve bought some new ones from corvette central and basically they were that hard to slot in, i had to tap them in with a hammer. The balls don’t spin and the plastic thing doesn’t rotate now that it’s in there. It’s almost like the metal ring around the plastic ring is too thick? Is that normal? Or is there something completely wrong with the steering column? Also does it matter what way it faces? It’s just sitting in there super tight.
You may have the ring or the race upside down
@@Stoneface_Garagehow do i know what way it’s suppose to face? One side has a more visible plastic ring
The two bearings should taper towards each other.
Where did you get the actual dimensions with the angles and such?
Just reverse engineered by measuring and scaling and guesstimating from available dimensions and photos
@@Stoneface_Garage thanks, I thought you may have found more dimensions than what they show. I have a very small area to mount one.
20:00 the key… if that is missing; does that mean the steering wheel will slide in and out without actually locking?
That's right
@@Stoneface_Garagethanks for the reply :)
Can't really see what you were attempting to show the camera. All we see is your dog's belly and paw
I suppose that tcentring the wheel onto the hub is achieved by a central ring inside the stud circle. Exciting first drive Love the MX5 door handles
Thanks. On these older unilugs there’s no provision for a hub centric ring as on the newer ones. The centering is done by very close tolerances of the lug shank in the wheel slot. That's why you have to mount them carefully as shown. Did you watch the door handle install video too? That was a challenge!
My father used to own a company he was the only person in the County who could do columns..late 80s early 90s the were stealing Gm saginaws at a rate of 20 a day where I’m at..needless to say my friends this brings back some great memories going to fix stolen recovery after stolen recovery with my father growing up. Wouldn’t change those days for anything..the business served its purpose we saw the writing on the wall by way of key fobs etc. A lot of guys can take em apart not a lot of guys can finish em. Thanks for the video buddy.
Thank you for watching!
Your link doesnt work...
You may find a different source through google. If not, send your email info, and I'll send back my copies...
Great video - much respect for your mechanical abilities
Thank you! 😊
Do you know what cable wiper system would work for single blade?
@Fazel_Patel There's no reason that this system shown would not work with only a single wiper transmission.
beautiful
