Hidden History Happy Hour Podcast
Hidden History Happy Hour Podcast
History runneth over with obscure tales of heroics and villainy, gruesome battles, hilarious happenings and downright bizarre coincidences. Hosts and longtime pals Alex Deane and Bryan Cunningham will be your guides through this hidden history. Based on Deane’s bestselling book Lessons From History, you will meet the war veteran who lost an eye then amputated his own fingers, learn of Africa’s first black bishop, whose great-great-granddaughter sacrificed herself to protect her people from Ebola, and be surprised by Abraham Lincoln’s duel with broadswords and the drunken British soldier who single-handedly conquered an enemy fort, and help us solve the mystery of who stole the still-missing Irish crown jewels. But you won’t just be along for the uproarious ride. Join Alex and Bryan as they imbibe the beverages of choice of the story subjects and contribute your own obscure tales which they will research and tell in future episodes, perhaps with you as guest.

Miss Goggins is also a cultural reference to American Baby Boomer kids. from Jim Copp and Ed Brown's great and twisted children's records. Miss Goggins is the most horrible school teacher who ever lived. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qaKftKp_Z7OToNo.html
Y'all got this from Lindybeige, huh?
I will NEVER praise Joe Biden. He was part of the 2014 US-instigated Maidan coup which started all the trouble in Ukraine. It was the US who hand-picked the new Russia-hating government, while turning a blind eye to the terrible massacre in Odessa. Since then, NATO have been building up an army with NATO weapons in a NON-NATO country, and using ethnic Russians in #Donbass for target practice. 14,000 deaths occurred due to these neo-Nazis which Americans encouraged. And you wonder there's a war now? It is not for me to send people to Hell, but I wouldn't want to be in Joe Biden's shoes at the Final Judgement.
Amazing Episode!
I think Alex is wrong about Ukraine. The US deliberately made it into a Russia-hating country in 2014, which has persecuted the Russian-speaking people of Donbass in the east for eight years. NATO have been arming and training the Ukrainians for the coming war since the 2014 Maidan coup. It didn't start last year at all. The Minsk II agreements were supposed to bring peace, but it later transpired that these were a trick to buy Ukraine time to toughen-up, and no-one had any intention of implementing them. We should be thoroughly ashamed of backing Biden in his proxy-war, after all the deceit. I have never known such manipulation of the media and Big Tech to stop the truth getting out!
Love this episode!
I watched it on a plane to wedding in the UK. It's funny and entirely unbelievable - except it's true. Thank you
Any mention of what Zelenskyy's forces have been doing to the ethnic Russian people in #Donbass? Eight years of shelling and terrorism? No, of course not. Shame, because that would explain why these people despise Zelenskyy and do not want to be part of his Ukraine.
Wow! This episode is nuts!!!!
A great topic because many do compare Putin to Stalin. Btw the Spanish Civil war could of been seen as a Proxy war between Hitler and the Soviets!!!
That is quite an interesting tale. Apparently the chaps who were asked to scuttle her were part of the crew from the factory who came to supervise its building on the lake. They decided to scuttle her in such a way that he could be salvaged. Accordingly they covered the engine with grease and loaded her with sand etc. The engine and boiler were, as a result, perfectly serviceable on salvage and continued in use until replaced by diesel engines when the ship was overhauled between 1976 and 1979.
Great episode
Greyhound is implausible, inaccurate bilge and you know it. The Cruel Sea gives a real depiction of the Atlantic convoys. Argo is a good story but factually inaccurate and a distortion of history.
Great episode!
Explain when you've sobered up.
Roger Moore couldn't act
1000s 100s? 😆
Great stuff
Alex looks as though he's hit the limit 🍸🍹🍷🥂
Cheers! 🍻
Absolutely loved watching this. I’ve been listening to the podcasts and really enjoyed that experience, but it’s superb to be able to watch everyone deliver the show.
