This argument is always skewed towards professionals. I’ve not owned a personal laptop for 2+ years. Store files and photos on my iPad/icloud, and use it for email and personal documents if needed. Obviously, if you’re running a business, you’re more than likely going to need a laptop. But I think most people aren’t doing that

Generally I like iPadOS but crave for a full browser so I can inspect source code etc for scraping and coding, Xcode should come to iPad too, some improvements to files such as being able to format drives and media and finally companies need to stop making gimped software which isn’t always apples fault looking at you Microsoft bring a proper version of excel over

The reason right-clicking isn't a really a “thing” on the iPad is because it's designed as a touch-first device, not a point-and-click tool. The iPad has to compensate for our pudgy fingers, which are less precise than a mouse. Instead of tiny pixel clicks, the iPad uses intuitive gestures and touch interactions that make sense for a touchscreen. This design choice ensures a smooth and user-friendly experience that aligns with the way we naturally interact with touch devices. Moreover, software like Final Cut Pro is designed differently on the iPad to leverage these touch-first interactions. While the desktop version relies on mouse precision and traditional menus, the iPad version uses touch-friendly controls and optimized gestures, making it more intuitive and accessible on a touchscreen interface. This ensures that powerful desktop applications remain functional and user-friendly on the iPad, despite the different input methods. How “tech” reviewers miss this very simple nuance is truly puzzling.

The iPad has had sufficient power for years, it's the software and lack of real pro apps that reduce the experience. Basic apps are fine, but at £1600+ with a keyboard, it's too expensive for that purpose. You still need a Macbook for real work

This tablet when it goes on sale in a few months will be when to buy. People forget iPads go on sale all the time. The M2s were pretty much always $100 to $200 off on Amazon. So there is that or Apple refurbished in a year. Apple is already putting 14 pros on Apple refurbished which is shocking to see so far so good way to get them decently priced for the frugal tech enjoyers.

I would love to love the Ipad Pro but it just does not fit in my work flow as a graphic designer very much. I write notes in meetings, I do some logo drafts but that's it. I always feel the work is easier and faster on the Mac. I try to come up with reasons to get the new Ipad but my M1 is just to little in use … if the Ipad Pro would be a really good gaming machine, I would have one more argument :) Let's wait for WWDC 24.

im planning to buy one before my last year of university just because i feel like my productivity levels will increase which is important in my last year, my laptop also has terrible battery and with this battery being around 17 hours i have no worries this will last the full day. Not a laptop replacer for me but rather a productivity enhancer

10:42 you can actually right click by physically 2 finger click on trackpad and it should bring up menu. Plus, try app like Figurative enhancing Figma experience on iPad. But tbh, Safari on iPadOS is the worst browser to use most web app.

I have the 2020 iPad Pro and the mcb pro m3 and with my experience is the iPad Pro is good for quick media consumption but nothing too serious because some websites are not even compatible with my iPad safari surprisingly, and also the multitasking is not good either. With the mcb pro m3 I can do everything with no restrictions and the screen and the design of the mcb is much more pleasing to look at and knowing you can do soo much more on the iPad Pro. So for me mcb pro m3 all day everyday if I had to pick one.

Will they change iPad iOS to be more like Mac OS, who knows. Plus they are forcing people to buy the new pencil. The original pencil will not work on the new IPad. And if someone comes out with a pencil that will work with it, Apple will sue them! I have seen police arrest local vendors that were selling covers that would work with your Apple. TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS!

I hate the argument that the iPad is a niche device. Ok… as a consumer there’s nothing wrong with demanding more from vendors that’s how the free market works. The most important thing is ensuring adding more macOS features won’t harm the iPad experience. But seriously, I can’t see how adding file management and Xcode would harm the iPad experience. If the MacBook dies, they will sell twice as many iPads. I’d by the 13 and 11 inch if they stop fucking around.

My biggest issue with Apple is the mail app on ipad. If you receive and send numerous attachments you will understand my pain. Why put attachment at the bottom of mail making it so frustrating to view if the mail has numerous threads. If this problem was solved I would use ipad 90% of the time.
