I have what might be a hot take, and most will call it a stupid take (and I'm okay with that). Ben Simmons. Assuming his physical health, I think he'd fit perfectly with Wemby. He's a very good ball handler, an excellent passer, he can guard 1-5, SA would be the new Lob City, and you don't have to worry about him taking too many shots. Yes, Simmons has his problems, but now that he's fallen so far from his peak, I imagine his next contract will be incredibly team friendly. He only has one year left on his current deal, at $40M. Thats the last year of his 5-year, $177M deal, which will dwarf whatever his next contract turns out to be. That was a 35-40 million dollar per year deal, so I'd bet he will get maybe half of that in his next deal. I just think Simmons and Wemby running the floor together would very effective, and very entertaining. They would have the best interior defender that can hang with guards, and arguably the best perimeter defender who can hang with the bigs. Add to that they have the draft capital and cap space to make some serious trades as well. Just my opinion.

They literally have the opportunity to get Sarr and Clingan in one night. Trade Dejounte and Capela, and Bey, and Hunter, and Okongwu, and get the 2nd overall pick, plus protected future picks, thats enough to get that trade done. Trae Young, AJ Griffin, Jalen Johnson, Sarr, and Clingan will be the starting 5. Then cone free agency, they will have enough salary space to fill the other spots Bufkin and Mohammed Guy will be on the 2nd string with Bogdanovic. The rest is the rest

I can't help but think about 2020 when I think of this class. That whole class got trashed because there wasn't someone who was a sure thing future MVP and to be honest we've been spoiled recently with how many generational talents we've had in recent drafts ie Wemby, Doncic, Zion, etc and then Flagg next year. We more often are having guys that scouts (rightfully) are going nuts for and when a draft doesn't have one of those it seems much worse. I remember scouts were calling Anthony Edwards the worst looking number one pick ever and look what happened there. 2020 has been pretty guard heavy on top but Ant, Maxey, Hali, LaMelo (if healthy), and Bane are looking great. This draft looks a little lackluster but there will inevitably be some guys who pop.

DT is vocal because she is like many NBA stars pre-Michael Jordan playing in a league unable to pay the MILLION DOLLAR contracts. The bottom line is if you do not embrace a rising star, you get left behind. The players 10 years from now if the star is embraced will be making per game what the current players make per year, or they can continue to shun the STAR and see it shoot off to another league elevating those to the height that could have been had...Envy and Ego are WEALTH ROBBERS
