Start on anxiety meds and you will use fewer test strips. So much of this is just in our heads.

Just getting started on a pond. If i am keeping them outside, but using a fountain to keep water moving, do i need to feed them? I'm assuming so if the fountain is keeping mosquitos away.

Purigen is fantastic for limiting tannins in your tanks. Driftwood can be a struggle if you don't want blackwater. Especially the common mopani driftwood. A bag of purigen clears it up overnight.

So I ended up picking up this skimmer and it’s… flawless. Literally everything you could want a skimmer to be. I run it 24/7 and there is absolutely nothing I’d change about it.

Hey man, appreciate your honesty and your content is always super helpful to hear. Been dealing with brown diatom algae in a 20 gallon long I started up back in January. I tried aggressively dealing with it, but ultimately just hanging back and being patient is what paid off because now it's mostly gone! I don't know if we're polling but i use both test strips and chemical kits.

Awesome job..I love Fritz products..Fritz 7 is a must have for sure..I'm getting ready to build a similar pond on a bigger scale for our back yard..I think after watching this I want a similar one for some Rainbow Shiners too. Not sure how they will do in this Texas heat but I can get them in some shade. Keep Crushing It!! Stay HUMBLE, Stay HUNGRY, Stay FOCUSED...~The Jarhead Entrepreneur

Have you ever tried to glue micro pebbles/sand to the inside of your pond containers? I’ve seen you put sand at the bottom of the containers to create visibility. Not sure how that would look but I’m trying to do a pond for my patio.

The plants sort the algae out if you just leave it Mother Nature takes over, I have a planted tank nearly 6 months old lots of fish facing 2 windows & lights on 9hrs a day no algae all the fish are happy & having babies…. Lots of plants dirt substrate then just leave it a loan to do it’s thing & it dose, no cleaning no water changes no chems & my tanks are thieving totally natural Good luck everyone keep them naturally 😃👍

Try a big water change with the shiners, using slightly cooler water. As the water temp increases it should trigger them.

My mini pond is at the entrance of my garden. I got a Beach umbrella 🏖️ the water was reading 91 degrees. Most definitely using a frozen bottle of water to cool the pond down. Two bubblers going none stop . I have water growing like crazy they have monster roots. Love the video thank you so much for sharing.

As usual, another great video, Mike. You’re such a natural communicator, we forget you’re just talking to a camera! The information is terrific, and the great things you show us don’t seem impossible to replicate-which is a big relief. Your fish room looks like it belongs to a normal human. I’ve gotten a group of friends-all ages-to watch. One is inspired to come back to the hobby after-wait for it-35 years!😳 We’re all planning a pond setup day using your vids. Thank you again! (Even the spouses have given approval-limited-no fish rooms--but all good.) please keep nerding out! You’re an inspiration! 👌🤜🤛🎉🙏🙏👏🤙

Love, love Amanos. Have had six in a 12 gallon lidless tank for months and no escapees yet. They totally transformed the tank within a week..any and all algae gone. Only problem is that target feeding for mystery snail is impossible because they snatch and run with it.

If you wanna improve that rainbow shiner line separate all your bootleg males out and throw a male from the good line in with bootleg females. Then you've still got the lines separate, and you can put the bootlegs males in a missilanius tank or were ever you throw culls.
