  The infrastructure is made by Japanese as Toyohara city, which modeled Sapporo. Now the buildings are made by Russia as Yuzuno-Sakhalinsk city. But their cars are from Japan. Not new, used-cars.

  I think I was about 12 when I first learned about Arkhangelsk. A big city so far north and so far from foreign ports, founded long ago on the edge of the earth. I pictured Russians as a brave and strong people to create another window on the sea that survives and thrives to this day. One day, I should like to visit this accomplishment.
