poor sound quality - good food
hey I’m going next week and my family are a little concerned of the seaweed on the beach, on every part of the beach there is seaweed or you can find a nice spot to swim ? Great tour
It really depends on the day, time of year, and how the waves/ocean currents move the seaweed around. I hope you're having a great time on vacation and have found many seaweed-free days to enjoy the beach!
We have been to the Tucan several times over the years. Haven't been there since 2013. Its so nice to see the resort as beautiful as always. We have visited other properties in the Playacar / Playa del Carmen area. But the layout of the Tucan with the jungle was very unique compared to other resorts. The " smaller" size of this resort was also a huge plus for us. The staff was also very friendly, which always makes it more enjoyable.
I completely agree! The jungle is one of my favorite parts :)

Yes! There is a kids program with activities all throughout the day. It's called Star Camp. They do things like animal tours, talent shows, etc.

How is the food ?
The food is good in the buffet area, there's plenty of variety and it changes every day. Out of the restaurants, my favorite was the Mediterranean one.

What month did you go? Looks like hardly any sargassum which is my main worry when booking a Mexican all-inclusive. Thanks for the great video, we are considering booking the Tucan 🎉
I went in September 2023. There wasn't any sargassum. I think it's mostly prevalent in the Cancun area but it depends on the resort too and how well they clean it.

Thanks, Miss Anna. Forest Hills is fine; yet, Rego Park is more commercial and has a somewhat more down to earth feel, with a number of better shopping spots, and is diverse with extra cost-effective options.

omg this might be a dumb question, but did your U.S. cellular service work in cancun? Like were you able to make phone. calls to someone in the U.S., or did you have to buy a separate simcard? Tysm and I really enjoyed your in-depth review of this resort! :)
Yes, my cell service worked in Mexico. I would suggest to check with your provider as some plans don't include international service. There is wifi signal at the resort so you can easily communicate on WhatsApp, for example, if you don't want to use your cell service. I'm so glad you enjoyed this video review!

Hey, great review! Just wondering what the evening entertainment is like for those not wanting to see a show? Is there a bar by the beach that you can chill out with a drink etc.
Thank you! The adult-only sports bar is open late night. It's an indoor room with tv's and games. The lobby bars host karaoke or live music some nights. Not sure if the beach front bar is open late every night; I only saw it open when the fire show happened on the beach.

In all the resorts I’ve visited in Mexico, none of them told us to not flush toilet paper, including this one. The only thing is: don’t drink the tap water.
I noticed the restaurant and theater are not air conditioned. How hot was it and did you have issues with mosquitos.
There were no issues with mosquitos. They spray all the vegetation (actually saw this happening during the day). You’ll also find an anti-mosquito lotion in the bathroom. There are ceiling fans everywhere in the resort. How hot it gets depends on the month when you plan on visiting. Only the Mediterranean and Japanese restaurants had air conditioning. And of course you’ll find air conditioning in your room and the stores in the lobby area. Hope this helps and enjoy your trip!

Not at all! They are not pushy about tipping, nor is it required. Some people leave a few dollars at the dinner table or in the rooms for the housekeeper, for example, but that’s only if you want to.

I don’t remember the room number. But on your reservation you can see what the room capacity is. I purchased a room which was “closer to the pool” so that my walk to the beach would be shorter. Hope you enjoy your vacation! 🏖️ 🌴
What's the difference between Quetzal and Tucan? Are the same thing?
It's basically another way of saying "left side" and "right side". These different sides have separate reception areas but they connect in the middle. Everything else is the same.
Well Kaiserschmarn must have caramelized pieces and is served with plum compot, Schnitzel does not say anything about the meat. Only a Wiener Schnitzel should have thin veal meat, the breading should also sufflé and it is served with a type of cranberry "jam" (Preiselbeeren) plus the typical salad. So not authentic there, also not the best spots in general. Sorry, take care 🥰

is the citrus water and water refill spots filtered water? We are heading here in a couple weeks and am trying to figure out if I should take a water filter or not. (really bad experience last year in Costa Rica is making me nervous lol)
The refill spots are filtered water for sure! I drank a lot of water from both the refill stations and citrus water area and was completely fine!
Great information I would think of staying but not eating there I would rather explore the town and eat Cancun typical Mexican food all that Americanized food I can eat here in California I’ll think about it
Totally up to you! For outside restaurants you'd have to take a car to get there.
Where did you get the outfit that you wore when showing the rooms? The green top with pink skirt?
The skirt is actually a sarong that I received many years ago as a gift! and the top is from a company called 'LUCA + GRAE'

Sorry, the first time I saw your comment I thought you were referring to shopping next to Iberostar Quetzal. For Paradisus Cancun, I am not sure where the closest shopping would be.
I stayed here way back in 1999 and absolutely loved it. Glad to see it's still going strong and the standards haven't slipped. Would love to go back one day

There are no servers at the beach or pool area. Everyone would go get their own drinks at the beach front bar.
The manager of quetzal, Jamie, is an amazing person. He’s very caring and kind. I got swimmers ear while I was down here and the first thing Jamie did when he saw me the next day was ask how I was feeling and offered to stop by the pharmacy the next morning. Just wanted to shout him out.

This pension has such good reviews that I wanted to try this new adventure :) Thank you so much for your very helpful information. It was worrying me quite a bit. That's so exciting! You will have a great vacation, this place is very safe and secure. There is no extra lock on the inside of your room's door. The check out process is SUPER easy! Just leave the key-card in the slot where you got it from, that's all!

My favorite resort in the world ! I've been to the Caribbean 8 times while working with GWV vacations ( now apple vacations) been to the quetzal twice, and I'd go again in a heartbeat ! I really wish you would've also shown the night club they have right on the resort. Use to be right outside to the left of the main lobby. This place has everything. There's really no reason to leave unless you want to shop 5th avenue or the plaza up the road. Great review though. I really enjoyed it. Brought back some great memories!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I was excited about the club too (since I know they had it a few years back) but now the club no longer exists :( The space has transformed into the adult-only bar, which I showed at the end of the video.
Wow no kidding really? Can't believe they got rid of it. Then again they're always updating the property So I really shouldn't be that surprised. It was an awesome little nightclub though kind of completed the whole package you know ? You really didn't have to leave the property if you didn't want to. Everything was right there. Just so you know. It's because of your video that I'll be booking this hotel for the third time in my life this year coming up. I showed my wife your video and told her this was my favorite place in the whole world and the two times I went prior were before we had met. She needs to experience this place as well so we'll be going this year. And it's all because of your video bring it back those memories of a great stay at a great place. This was a good review. However, it is not advisable to feed the fish or any other wildlife at the resort. It may seem fun to attract a school of fish, but do you know what is attracted to schools of fish? Barracuda, which hunt in packs and can be more dangerous than sharks. So no, don’t feed the fish or anything else.
You’re absolutely right! It was so shocking to see that couple feeding an entire hotdog to those fish 😱 Larger fish can be attracted too.
Barracudas don’t attack people stop it ! Maybe by mistake hunting fish like you said but they don’t attack people!!
Hey Anna, thanks for the great review. Do you have any comments on the room sound isolation ? I stayed at RIU Tequia and I could hear neighbor rooms talking a normal voice levels and immense noise from the corridors due to the design of the rooms (basically creating very loud echoes). Do you have any input on this ?
Hi, thanks for watching the video! I stayed in a corner room on the 2nd floor which connected to another room on the same floor by one wall. I couldn’t hear any guests speaking, the only sounds were high heels on the floor. If your room has a jungle view then you’ll hear the monkeys early in the morning!
@@missannasadventures9958 Awesome appreciate the reply, me and my partner don't mind the wildlife :) Another question if you don't mind (mainly because we really liked this place because it's so different but are still a bit on the fence), we've read on TripAdvisor (multiple reviews actually) stating that peoples belongings got stolen. While I usually know that some rare occurrences can happen, we couldn't help but notice the amount of low 1-start reviews mentioning this specific issue, thus it got us a bit worried. How was the staff in general ? Have you noticed something odd ? We've read multiple times that people have walked in into their room, having 2-3 staff just doing nothing in the room and promptly leaving upon guests arrival.
