This is one of the greatest songs ever written: smart, catchy, ironic. I have loved Jimmie Dale's performances of it for years; he recorded it several times. The fact that this version sounds as good as the studio version is a testament to what a good singer he is. No autotune, I assume! A treasure!!!!!
Rest in Peace and God bless your soul my idol🙏🙏🙏
Nah
Queen Mary, she's my friend.
Bluegrass Einstein 😂 god bless you sir
I cant help checking back with Doc over the years and am enjoying having a crack at learning this . I don't know the history of Little Sadie but noticed that the lyric plot is very similar to Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash.
Ol boy was working to keep with Doc. What a sharp musician. Legendary. NC proud.
Damn this dude can play!!!
Tom Me and my x wife. Love this song
Yea boy
Sounds a good deal like the tune they recorded under Hot Tuna titled, "Been So Long." I bought every Hot Tuna album I could find. They guys were (are) great.
Words from the master… ❤bleeds for thee❤
He is the master of acoustic guitar , bluegrass and bluejazz lol ( listen to backwaters album) and will always be … you know what makes him so good and unique? The way he find space to do silences at the right time between all this fast notes … everything about his playing is just so good with his own particular sound . There’s other good players but i don’t care about some who are just fast , the perfect example of art and to be a master of his craft tony was the perfect example… not to forget about his awesome voice too and his respect for his musicians . Rip Tony Rice
This is Great moment, Great musician n Great song. Thanks Jorma.
I must have watched this video a hundred times now. His playing has a profound affect on me.
Outstanding!
I like Bill Monroe, however our country needs a PRESIDENT WITH BACKBONE,carter, clinton, obama and now bidet sure had and have no Backbone. GICE US TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT!.
@nc4m Carter may have liked great music, but as aPresident only one worse than Biden.
@dozensides I realize its been 2yrs ago and you will probably not see this, but your comment was well said,it really is a good memmory of Our USA.
Can you feel it vibrating thru your soul?
The shift to the d chord may be of some interested to the listener. What a joke! It's enough to make u start to cry! Pure beauty in sound!
In 2006 I was sitting in a waiting room at UCSF medical center in SF. There was an elderly lady sitting in a wheel chair. Also a younger lady fairly tall with short hair sitting next to her. I brought my acoustic guitar along with me in it's case. The younger lady asked me if I knew who ramblin Jack Elliot was? I answered yes I did.She was surprised telling me that hardly anyone she asked knew. She and the elderly lady were relatives of Elliot. I believe she said Elliot was her cousin.
Ralph and curly
Shit
Rory Block is just phenomenal, she is a great.
Wow!!
So much like his great dad
Keb Mo one of the most amazing guitarist ever. This guy can play the crap out of the guitar and he’s very brilliant. 🔥🎸🤯
Marvelous playing !
He's an excellent guitar player, but he ruined this beautiful song with his nonsense.
I'm in tears right now. What a gift he had, may Kelly Joe Rest in Peace.
James Earl Carter was the real deal
Amazing player I'm just discovering now and I thought I had heard them all. Check out Seiji Igusa also for brilliant playing.
Cool! I should have it down within an hour! 😂
Awesome old Martins
Sad song but deep and thought provoking.
Wow! Nice to see a video of Pete playing. Dang, what year was this from?
Pete's arrangement of Superstition has to be one of the most amazing guitar parts on the planet !! I know that after about 10 years I think I can get the base part down !!! Ha Ha Ha !!! A beautiful person too soon taken from us. He is playing a command performance in front of the Throne of GOD. His arrangements of Hymns are some of the most inspiring pieces of music I have heard in a very long time. Thank you for all the wonderful music !
MAn that opening in the A minor noodling as Tony calls it..brings to mind Bert Jansch and John Martyn...thoughts?
A good song that Ricky Skaggs improved upon with one 7 chord.
flawless beauty
GOD REST YOUR SOUL PETE !!!
Beautiful.Shimmering like glass, and when called for, washes in and over you, like a tide coming in.
That rendition sucked.
The GOAT
I miss him!!!!
Holy moly!
I love that. It’s so different. I wonder what that would sound like on my Taylor 810….?
LOL…better than my $125.00 used Harmony Stella?
