This is one of the greatest songs ever written: smart, catchy, ironic. I have loved Jimmie Dale's performances of it for years; he recorded it several times. The fact that this version sounds as good as the studio version is a testament to what a good singer he is. No autotune, I assume! A treasure!!!!!

I cant help checking back with Doc over the years and am enjoying having a crack at learning this . I don't know the history of Little Sadie but noticed that the lyric plot is very similar to Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash.

Sounds a good deal like the tune they recorded under Hot Tuna titled, "Been So Long." I bought every Hot Tuna album I could find. They guys were (are) great.

He is the master of acoustic guitar , bluegrass and bluejazz lol ( listen to backwaters album) and will always be … you know what makes him so good and unique? The way he find space to do silences at the right time between all this fast notes … everything about his playing is just so good with his own particular sound . There’s other good players but i don’t care about some who are just fast , the perfect example of art and to be a master of his craft tony was the perfect example… not to forget about his awesome voice too and his respect for his musicians . Rip Tony Rice

In 2006 I was sitting in a waiting room at UCSF medical center in SF. There was an elderly lady sitting in a wheel chair. Also a younger lady fairly tall with short hair sitting next to her. I brought my acoustic guitar along with me in it's case. The younger lady asked me if I knew who ramblin Jack Elliot was? I answered yes I did.She was surprised telling me that hardly anyone she asked knew. She and the elderly lady were relatives of Elliot. I believe she said Elliot was her cousin.

Pete's arrangement of Superstition has to be one of the most amazing guitar parts on the planet !! I know that after about 10 years I think I can get the base part down !!! Ha Ha Ha !!! A beautiful person too soon taken from us. He is playing a command performance in front of the Throne of GOD. His arrangements of Hymns are some of the most inspiring pieces of music I have heard in a very long time. Thank you for all the wonderful music !
