Amazing video! Just wanted to say huge thank you for the time and effort you put into the videos it’s by far my fav fishing channel. You’ve inspired me to start fishing and today I caught my first mackerel so thank you cal 🙌🏼
@@charlieroberts4043 That’s great mate. Well done for catching your first mackerel. 🎣💪🏼
Have you tried a bubble float, long leader and unweighted smallish eel....
@@LurchLures No not yet but I’ve seen how effective that can be. I bought some bubble floats ages ago but haven’t got round to trying that technique yet.
Good watch , what weight lure are you using please?
@@topfuelteddy Thanks. I think this black minnow was 20g. I use the 20g and 25g often.
No need to apologise for swearing Cal... Losing a decent fish is a wounding experience. You had some good sport, so not all bad 👍🏻
Good vid where about is this thanks
@@user-st5tj8ws6o it’s in guernsey.
Nice video. What is your favourite colors for patchinko? Thanks

@@user-ye7sj7gm3f thanks!
Are YOU sure that the mackerel which you are KEEPING are of Legal Size ??? Some look small ?
@@user-ye7sj7gm3f legal size in Guernsey is 20cm
@@FISHINGWITHCAL Thanks for the reply buddy. I don't keep so well these days sadly and was more just wondering is all, plz forgive me if I came across as an idiot. Love your vids btw.
@@user-ye7sj7gm3f No worries mate. Hope you feel better soon 💪🏼 Thanks 🎣
Plz tel me that you Didn't keep that second mackerel ??? That Bass was too small to be killing and keeping ! (it WAS NOT 42..... YOU STRETCHED IT BOTTOM TAIL-END, IT was barley even 37, YOU TOOK a Liberty !!!!!) In a year's time THAT could have been a real NICE fish for someone. I Just unsubscribed seeing this barbarity. Shame on YOUR GREEDINESS !
Hi Cal - great video. Just wanted to ask if you use a leader and if so do you tie it to your braid? was thinking of using a swivel and short leader because I'm fed up of tying leader knots. Do you have any recommendations?
@@williammahendran2769 I use a size 8 swivel to attach my leaders. I know a lot of people love knots but I prefer to have pre tied leaders in my bag and personally, I see no issues with tying pre tied leaders when out on the rocks. It works for me and makes zero difference when working lures.
Sad but no surprise to see the sky full of geo engineering 😢
Your the god of bass fishing ... At the start of the video I see you walking on the water 😂😂😂😂😂

Nice video again mate
Nice one Cal! Great little session and looking forward to those video`s of Summer (if you can call it that) Bass fishing.
Great session and your a great angler with the spirit that I share. Thank you for doing this great videos! Big hug from Portugal!
Just shows you can call ch them in all conditions!!! Just need to be willing to do the leg work!!! Well done mate!!!
Yeah that’s very true. If they’re there, they’re there 🎣
You had a nice session Cal and and it was nice to see a few fish showing. And what a pain that larger one getting off, Gutted 😢
Great Video as always Cal
Awesome video mate! Your videos are very well done and I love watching! I make fishing videos as well and it’s cool to see what you’re up to!! Keep up the good job!👌👌🎣🎣
Awesome, thank you mate. It’s a lot of fun making the videos. I’ll check out your channel too 👍🏼
sharp hooks innit - great stuff, ta !
Do you always go out at the peak of high tide cal? Lovely video, simple and fun
No, I’ll fish all states of the tide. It really depends on where I’m going.
Great stuff
Nice fishing! Don’t complain about the little ones I’m still trying to catch my first bass!
I’m not complaining mate. It’s all fun. It’ll happen for you soon, just keep at it and once you’ve caught a couple you’ll have the bug then! Good luck 👍🏼
@@FISHINGWITHCAL I know you weren’t really I was only joking. Thanks bud I hope so just got to find the right places!
Really Good Video Cal, great camera work, nice whip in the Rod, 1st Class.🎣
Thanks, much appreciated mate 👍🏼
Great session Cal. Hopefully the season picks up from here ;)
Hi Cal really enjoyed your chat with Cormac Walsh on lure fishing podcast, Keep up the good work regards Pat
Thanks a lot Pat 👍🏼
Hi mate, have you got any tips for me I'm going down Devon for week fishing the harbour at Ilfracombe real soon. I have no idea on what bait to use and rigs ect. If you could help me really appreciate it
What will you be targeting?
@@FISHINGWITHCAL Hi mate sorry for the late reply 😂 I'll be targeting Pollock and mackerel hopefully
Well done Cal some good fishing was had there ..Asking here as norm was into fly fishing some yrs ago now getting into fishing into salt water . Regards braid is braid say best avoided when its a touch on the breezy side , as heard can pick up wind knots often ? Maybe best with Mono or is it best filling spool just with Fluoro whats your take on it ?
Hi mate. I’d use braid all day long. Wind knots aren’t really caused by wind, they’re caused by how the line peels off the reel on each cast. Wind can affect that obviously, that’s why a lot of people shield the spool when casting. Working surface lures in wind can create wind knots because you have a lot of slack line. It happens sometimes but if your reel is spooled properly then you’re less likely to get them. Braid is much more effective for lure fishing, you feel every little knock whereas mono has less feel to it.
Brilliant session Cal, personally I would have stayed there fishing as it was that good , you’ll be dreaming of the one that got away , next time eh 👍, cheers again for a great vid , your sand eel soft lure has similar colouring to the lure a mentioned to you previously, Tackle house feed shallow , sand eel or mullet , all the best and thanks again
Yeah I think if I’d have stayed I may have caught a few more fish but I had to be somewhere. Yes I agree, sandeel, mullet imitations are excellent choices of lures. They’ll catch consistently.
Doesn’t matter how long you’ve been fishing, how many fish you’ve caught, losing a goodun always hurts.
Yep 😂
Whats the reel your using
It’s a Shimano twin power 5000
Great stuff again
Nice one Cal....Good work!....🎣🐟😁👍
Cracking video Cal, your enthusiasm is infectious. I'd give my right nut for a days lure fishing like that, which at my advanced age would not actually be a great loss😂 <><
😂😂😂
Thanks mate. You know how it goes though, some days they’re there and some days they’re not. Thanks for watching 👍🏼🎣
@@FISHINGWITHCAL The nuts or the fish? : D <><
Great session Cal
Nice to see the Bass coming back in, great vid mate.
Could Not be better Next Weekend i am of to France and fish for Bass from the rocks Still so much to learn... Tight lines my friend
Sounds like fun mate. Good luck 💪🏼
Nice going cal 👏
Another great vid mate 👍🏻 really good footage and some great hook ups there .. well done bud .. I remember one of your vids talking about the rod/ reels you use and remember you saying your go to rod was the shimano aernos .. was that the one your using in this vid ? If so what casting weight is it ? Thanks for the work you put into your vids .. I’m on the north east coast so my fishing is up Northumberland .. there’s bass here but not in the numbers or size you have down there
Hi mate, thanks very much! The rod I’m using in this video is a Shimano Technium. It’s a heavier lure rod that’s 21-54g. The Aernos is a lovely rod, that one is rated at 7-35g which yes, I’ll use for my general lure fishing. The Aernos isn’t an expensive rod either, I think it costs around £100 so for the price it’s an excellent piece is kit.
@@FISHINGWITHCAL I tried my best to get my hands on an aernos but it seems there harder to find than rocking Horse turd ! .. I’ve spent a little more and ordered the triple cross surf rod 10-45 g .. keep the vids coming cal , there brilliant ! Tight lines bud 👍🏻
@@markwilson4568 oh really, I didn’t realise that. I picked mine up from my local tackle shop. I’ll have to see if they still have any in stock.
Good Work thanks for the video. I just picked up a Samson Rod following your videos, looking forward to catching a fish but man it casts a mile. Keep up the good work!
Yea they do! When the wind is howling over here that’s when I’ll take the Samson rod out. I’ve fished lure into really strong head winds and that thing will punch them out no problem! Good luck with it mate 👍🏼
Your video captures the ambiance beautifully, not only the fishing! enjoy~👏
