Systema Vasiliev

Systema Vasiliev

There is a reason why Russian Martial Art is called SYSTEMA. It is a complete set of concepts and training components that enhance one's life. In this case, acquiring the martial art skill is a way to improve the function of all seven physiological systems of the body and all three levels of human abilities the physical, the psychological and the spiritual.

Physical Therapy DOES teach, treat, consider structure - especially as taught my OMPT - Kaltenborne-Evjenth. There are plenty of problems with western medicine but they aren't solved by making inaccurate accusations. AND re: human structure: if it's not broke don't fix it ! Plus don't put negative thoughts in anyone's head. We all have weird structural abnormalities that we make work. Let the individual via their own health process work on their structure. I also strongly advise against teaching joint mobilization techniques such as the gross/ non-specific one shown in the video to people who have not learned how to assess the mobility (Hypo vs Hyper vs normal ) of the joints being mobilized. One time I asked a Systema instructor to do a simple mobilization on a joint & he did a MANIPULATION on a joint that should never be manipulated. Why did he feel so emboldened to be that aggressive & go beyond my simple, clear instruction ? It's important to know what you don't know.

For the doubters, please feel free to boost the video speed to 2x in order to see something closer to real fighting speed. Vasiliev, like Ryabko before him, is first and foremost an expert in reading his opponent's shifts of body weight, whether they're stepping or launching an attack. Knowing that, V himself knows where to move himself, and what part of the opponent to counterattack, and with what. All V has to do then is _move faster._ And all of this is found in the much older art of which Systema is a free-form version: Taiji juan. Observation of your opponent's preparatory body weight shifts, and then counterattacking faster, is summed up in the rather flowery English translation from the original Chinese as "Start later but arrive sooner."

Is it necessary to have a complete good shape of abdominal muscles ,or it's o.k for the slim and skinny persons, too? Can a womam endure such a Pain, too???

The brain "remembered" the pain ,so it will memorize the shock for next time. So at the second punch ...the whole body will be prepared.
