My channel is all about making you think outside the box when it comes to window treatments, bedding, upholstery, shades and installation. I try to simplify your life by explaining and showing the finished product first and work backwards on how the formulas, pattern etc were calculated. Using the finished product as a reference is a great tool while learning how to make it. You can always email me your questions and the link is on my website. factorydirectwindowtreatments.com

    What size are your L Brackets (Corner Brackets) 2"x2" ?

  • @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom
    @FactorydirectdesignersworkroomАй бұрын

    It depends on the size of the board I’m using! If I mount a valance on a 3” board I use 2-1/2 to 3” bracket, 4” board would be 3” to 3-1/2” bracket, etc…

    Thanks so much. The rope broke on an old rod set that we inherited with the house purchase 42 years ago. We managed to restring the rod with the assistance of another video (very helpful!) but there was no mention of the critical critical hook. We thought the problem was weight of the recently hung curtains. Thanks so much for the fix!!

    Hi Scott, I had a question about making a crib skirt, boxpleated, the crib measurements are 28 x 52, drop is 16.5. I was trying to add up the half pleats on the corners and the center pleats, I calculated 200 inches. Is that correct, I wanted to make a crib skirt for my nieces baby

  • @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom
    @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom2 ай бұрын

    It is hard for me to determine because the skirt can be either 3 side or 4. I like to use 6” for a 1/2 kick pleat and 12” for full kick pleat. It has been a boatload of time since making one but I believe the corners need to be split pleat to accommodate the box spring attached to the crib legs if you are sewing it to a fabric deck like you would on a dust ruffle

  • @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom

    Nothing ages fabric faster than washing them! I have been back to repeat customers houses that we installed custom valances 15 years plus ago and they look the same as when we put them up! Lightly vacuum with a brush attachment is all that is needed!

    So why didn't you start stapling each side from the center and work to the corners? You get to fold the corners evenly that way.

  • @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom
    @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom2 ай бұрын

    My personal preference is to start in the middle and work towards the corners and put extra fabric in the corner miters if needed. The corners are already tight before stapling so I like to keep an eye on the top seam to make sure it is even all the way around.

    I purchased this and am wondering if this type of dacron will work: Light Weight Bonded 100% Polyester Batting 4oz 48"? I hope so because I ordered 10 feet. I'm in the process of making four 45X18 5 inch box cushions that will convert into a bed in our mini van. My concern after receiving the 10 feet of 4 oz batting that this batting wouldn't be thick enough. Do you think this will work for this project???

  • @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom
    @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom2 ай бұрын

    Give the Dacron some time to decompress from being packaged, it should do the trick but if you don’t feel it is thick enough you can spray glue another layer right over the first!

    Sorry but without you saying a 24" panel has 5 pleats how would you know this? because doesn't it depend on the width of you fabric? 60" or 54" and you had 52"...

  • @penelopec8468
    @penelopec84688 күн бұрын

    @@lyndawilliams4570 I think "panel" is the finished size of the drape you hang. So in this case he made a 24" "panel" out of fabric that started at 52" wide (which is known as a "width"). But the width of fabric you buy/find in a store can vary...
