My channel is all about making you think outside the box when it comes to window treatments, bedding, upholstery, shades and installation. I try to simplify your life by explaining and showing the finished product first and work backwards on how the formulas, pattern etc were calculated. Using the finished product as a reference is a great tool while learning how to make it. You can always email me your questions and the link is on my website. factorydirectwindowtreatments.com

Thanks for your video. Do you still sell your curtain patterns?
Can I use a l shape bracket to hang up the curtains
I have watched several Dacron wrap videos - staple to backer board, spray glue, loose wrap - this by far looks like the best. Thank you for posting this!
No comment on that first window with no space on the right?
You make things look so easy. Wish me luck. 😊
Thanks Scott. Very helpful.
Do you have a video explaining how to hang the curtains on the carriers?
Thanks for the great video!
excellent how-to video for roman shades - the best I've seen.
Thank you!
My back cushion is too foamy and soft, How should I make it firmer?
That is really hard to advise without seeing it!
your good upholstery work I like 👍 because I am also sofamaker upholsterer
Thanks 👍
@@Factorydirectdesignersworkroom your welcome sir
Thanks Buddy
Thanks!
Thank you Billy!
LIFE SAVER THANK YOU.
You’re welcome!
Thank you! This video helped me resolve two different drapery rod issues on two different curtains. Much appreciated!
You are welcome Linda, thanks for watching!
What size are your L Brackets (Corner Brackets) 2"x2" ?
It depends on the size of the board I’m using! If I mount a valance on a 3” board I use 2-1/2 to 3” bracket, 4” board would be 3” to 3-1/2” bracket, etc…
How can i get a swag valance patterns to purchase
Unfortunately we are under staffed and cannot offer them in the near future! I’m so sorry!
Great video Scott! I'll be working on an arched valance in the very near future and this provides me with a lot of good information on how to shape the arch!
I’m glad it was helpful Diane, good luck!!!
I too didn’t see how u covered the board
Thanks so much. The rope broke on an old rod set that we inherited with the house purchase 42 years ago. We managed to restring the rod with the assistance of another video (very helpful!) but there was no mention of the critical critical hook. We thought the problem was weight of the recently hung curtains. Thanks so much for the fix!!
Glad it helped!
Hi Scott, I had a question about making a crib skirt, boxpleated, the crib measurements are 28 x 52, drop is 16.5. I was trying to add up the half pleats on the corners and the center pleats, I calculated 200 inches. Is that correct, I wanted to make a crib skirt for my nieces baby
It is hard for me to determine because the skirt can be either 3 side or 4. I like to use 6” for a 1/2 kick pleat and 12” for full kick pleat. It has been a boatload of time since making one but I believe the corners need to be split pleat to accommodate the box spring attached to the crib legs if you are sewing it to a fabric deck like you would on a dust ruffle
How do u wash them when they need to washed..... If u stapling it to the pelmet....
Nothing ages fabric faster than washing them! I have been back to repeat customers houses that we installed custom valances 15 years plus ago and they look the same as when we put them up! Lightly vacuum with a brush attachment is all that is needed!
I’m working on my kickbox valance, tomorrow I’m going to mount it, feel pretty good about my first try , thank you for your videos
Thanks for watching Tonya and good luck with your project!!!
This is the best workroom tutorial I have ever seen. Thank you!
Wow, thanks!
Very timely video ❤ My 14 year old dog can't jump up to the bed anymore - we've been using a box with books in it as a redneck solution - this will be so much better!
Scott have you done a tutorial on head boards, I’m getting ready to make my first cornice board, gathering my supplies.
I have made head boards but a very long time ago and if I ever make another one I will be sure to make a video, good luck on your cornice project!
So why didn't you start stapling each side from the center and work to the corners? You get to fold the corners evenly that way.
My personal preference is to start in the middle and work towards the corners and put extra fabric in the corner miters if needed. The corners are already tight before stapling so I like to keep an eye on the top seam to make sure it is even all the way around.
Great job!!!
Thank you!!
Boy aren’t we all have mobility problems, I am lol
Me too! I had my left hip replaced 8 years ago and right knee replaced 7 months ago!
I’ve made a few beds for my senior pups.
how do you know how many to make for your specific size window?
A necklace swag is mainly used to outline a pinch pleated drapery but I have a lot of videos dedicated to swag valances on my channel. Thanks for watching!
👍 nice
Love your tutorials, makes it look so easy 😁 and very easy to understand ❤
Thank you Ester!
I purchased this and am wondering if this type of dacron will work: Light Weight Bonded 100% Polyester Batting 4oz 48"? I hope so because I ordered 10 feet. I'm in the process of making four 45X18 5 inch box cushions that will convert into a bed in our mini van. My concern after receiving the 10 feet of 4 oz batting that this batting wouldn't be thick enough. Do you think this will work for this project???
Give the Dacron some time to decompress from being packaged, it should do the trick but if you don’t feel it is thick enough you can spray glue another layer right over the first!
What kind of staple gun is that - size wise? Also, how would you make a wooden box like that?
The air staple gun I’m using is quite expensive but Amazon has this that gets great reviews! amzn.to/44Bnfqf. I will be making another cornice soon and will show how to make the box, it is a pine board on the top and the face and sides are made from 1/2” plywood
@@Factorydirectdesignersworkroom Thanks, Scott!

Yes that should work just fine!

That is a fabulous video. Concise and informative. Thank you very much.
Thank you!
As a male, the fabric store employees treat me the same way.
I LOVE it! Thank you! I am just getting ready to attempt these!!!❤
I am sure you will do just fine! Thanks for watching.
Sorry but without you saying a 24" panel has 5 pleats how would you know this? because doesn't it depend on the width of you fabric? 60" or 54" and you had 52"...
I’m so confused. Isn’t 1 panel 55 inches?
@@lyndawilliams4570 I think "panel" is the finished size of the drape you hang. So in this case he made a 24" "panel" out of fabric that started at 52" wide (which is known as a "width"). But the width of fabric you buy/find in a store can vary...
Scott I’ve been watching you for years now, and you never fail to amaze me , love your work sir ❤❤
Thank you so much!
Lovely, I love your work.
Thank you WindyJean!
Qual é o pano que fica melhor de fazer esses modelos sendo colorido
I just ordered this stapler yesterday but did not realize that I had to order the staples separately. I know you said that a regular stapler would work but what makes this clipper stapler any special for this use? You are using it so there must be a reason? Is it the staples you prefer or..? Thanks a ton :)
I prefer a “plier stapler” which is exactly what the clipper stapler is and it sinks the staples in very well and I have had this one for years and is still going strong!
Thank you. Last night I ordered the same stapler on Amazon. I didn't realize that the staples don't come with it but the stapler without staples will be delivered soon... I want to finish my project today so I guess I will have to make do with regular staples... unfortunately... but really appreciate you taking out the time to write back. Keep up your wonderful videos..
Hi Scott thanks for this lovely video. I wanted a firm back cushion to replace the pily filled ones. I got the 1827 foam and have cut it out already . I have the arch on the two side back cushions. I will ne using 2 layers of dacron wrap but have to get the stapler you mention. There are plenty of plier staplers online and also plier clipper staplers. Would it be possible for you to maybe send a link here ? Thanks a ton!

I made 5 Roman shades for my kitchen dinette because of your instructions.
Very nice to hear, thank you!
Scott would you please re-do some of your videos? You are a natural teacher and I have learned so much from you!
You are absolutely right I need to go back and improve on many of my older videos!
Does Hobby Lobby sell the clutches and the plastic rings and strings? We are getting a brand new Hobby Lobby May 13th. I'm so excited. My cat has destroyed ALL my mini-blinds but one...TWICE. I'm thinking of making Roman shades. I LOVE your tutorials!!!
Hi Kathy! We have a Hobby Lobby near us and is very limited on shade supplies and way over priced on thing like plastic rings, Amazon is the way to go and you can purchase entire kits! amzn.to/4aVYKq0
Thank you for this video . Extremely well explained. 👍
