    Let's call this what it is: a drug fueled decision. In the sober light of day, they realized it was a BAD idea, hence the instagram deactivation & scramble to undo it. They clearly were looking for someone to fund their drug habit. As for blaming Rachel, if he's not fired for rape culture, he won't be fired for anything.

They have a gym that they can use for free. But I will say this NFL cheerleaders have never gotten paid a lot. I know someone that used to be an NFL cheerleader and she said yeah they just don’t get paid a lot, so this is not a new thing

    I do think that the organization should pay the women a lot more. It doesn’t seem fair that they should have to hold down full-time jobs while they’re literally wrecking their bodies in the service of corporate billionaires. On the other hand, very few dancers of Royal Ballet, NYCB, or ABT make as much money as a Dallas cheerleader, who is essentially just a non-individuated member of a chorus line. Maybe Vegas dancers do better, I don’t know. As to the argument that the cheerleaders are producing millions in profits for the organization, it’s still teeny-tiny compared to what the football players generate in ticket sales, TV ads, merchandise, etc. As famous as the cheerleading squad is, no one (except maybe the moms) goes to a Dallas Cowboys game just to see girls dancing. They do go to see the players, and especially to see them win games.

    Same!! I liked Sailing Yacht but Gary gave me the biggest ick from the very beginning. Same with the guy on their first season (aget) who was on the boat working with his partner but being too flirty with another coworker. I definitely like Capt Glenn. I liked the Adventure show but not a fan with how Capt Kerry runs things. He & Capt Sandy seem too involved in some things and not enough in others. I liked Capt Lee (although his responses were somewhat too old school). How about the dramatic season 3, with Rocky. 😱

    Why is everyone reviewing this show now like it's new??? I was watching this show ten yrs ago. They are way more than Cheerleaders. They are A level , Broadway level dancers. Don't talk about "female empowerment" in one breath and then simultaneously put down anothers womans CHOICE. They want to be DCCs and they are proud.

    You guys have to check out the original series DCC Making The Team - the Netflix documentary was much more mild. The original series really shows how brutal the process is and the girls were treated poorly. They say they want to see the girls’ personalities but they don’t want to hear ANYTHING other than “yes ma’am.” Weight and appearance (down to whether or not spray tans are too dark) are commented on in front of the entire group on a regular basis.

  • @mrsx7944

    Judy Trammel (the choreographer for the cheerleaders ) said that she could never do a jump split. And she was a DCC cheerleader. One of the reasons that the year they changed the uniform, Tex Schramm said the cheerleaders looked like streetwalkers. Uniforms? They don’t get to keep their BOOTS. Can you imagine?

  • @CrankyBeach
    @CrankyBeach17 күн бұрын

    As I recall, Judy said that when she was a DCC they didn't do the jump split, so the fact that she said she couldn't have done it is moot. I Googled and learned that the jump split began in 1989. Judy cheered from 1980 to 1984. Also... if you watch the 1979 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders movie (it's on KZread) the dance routines appeared to be much easier. Even I could have done those routines. Nowadays? Even if I were still in my 20s I couldn't do one tenth of today's choreography.

    Grew up in Dallas and did drill team in high school…our version of dance teams! We did jump splits and high kicks too…it’s really grueling on the body. When it comes to the “yes ma’am” answer it’s a double meaning…it’s yes you understood what was said /that you heard them. My team was over 60 girls and when the director was talking to you specifically it was a great way for her to know you heard instead of saying “ya” which can come off disrespectful.

  • @camitchell123
    @camitchell12318 күн бұрын

    My daughter was on drill team in Texas also. The jump splits themselves aren't too bad, it's the pressure of having the pull of the attached dancers.

    I haven’t watched the doc, but I loved the series “making the team”. Are you two both from Canada? You might not know about Texas and the south - very conservative. The “yes,ma’am“ is seen as respect. Very old school . Agree with everything you said, it’s refreshing to see it from a younger generation point of view. The Dallas Cheerleaders are a combination of modeling , acting, deputaunte, beauty pageant, gymnastics and a touch of prostitution. It’s basically a stepping stone to find a wealthy husband as the long game. Most of the girls do well after, securing that lavish Texas lifestyle. It’s forbidden to date the players, but many do. One season a girl got caught and was fired. Nothing happened to the player, of course. The series is pretty awesome if you have a chance to check it out!

    Oh no... y'all unlocked my special interest. I was OBSESSED with Making the Team as a young adult and recently learned that the entire series is on Paramount+ so I binged it earlier this year. First, I haven't finished the entire video so I don't know if you have mentioned this yet, but Jasmine from The Valley was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and on Making the Team! I think she was a DCC for two seasons, but since MTT follows the rookies more, she's featured more prominently the season she initially auditions. When the promo for The Valley came out, I was like "why do I know that woman's face?!" lmao Second, re: money. The reason they are paid better now is because a former DCC, Erica Wilkins (truly one of their most talented and iconic dancers), SUED THEM. However, in the midst of the lawsuit, she was publicly ridiculed and disowned by all past and present DCC. It was horrible. Judy's daughter, Cassie Trammell, made an instagram post about and the comments are wild considering it was this lawsuit that changed this industry for the better. Anecdotally, a girl from my dance team in high school made the Arizona Cardinals cheer team (this was 2008) and they were paid $100 per game and that is IT. No pay for practices or anything. Absolutely bonkers. If you want to stay on this rabbit hole, there is a crazy pipeline of Melissa Rycroft going from Making the Team to The Bachelor where she got engaged to said bachelor and then DUMPED on the reunion, which got her a spot on Dancing with the Stars which got her a spot on Dancing with the Stars ALL STARS season that she WON that got her right back on Making the Team as their "showmanship coach" LOL it's a wild ride.

    I'm not shocked. You better sign up for serious medical issues later, they push the "comradery " amongst them to not look at the facts. NFL players get a NFL pension for the rest of their life. But cheerleaders get the "opportunity " to ruin their hips for a really outdated AC/DC song..

Its so refreshing to see how much she has matured and developed post VPR, she's so grounded, so normal, she's a mother and a wife first and foremost and has the best husband. Its funnt how Scheana wont stop fangirling her, how Lisa Vanderpump speaks so highly of her, that she stays away from the toxic cast mates, but maintains close ties to those that have always had her back like Kristina Kelly.
