If they do the open hub concept, this park will flop
I hope they have some memorials or nods to the original monster actors. Lon Chaney and such. Was really dispointed that there wasnt a Robin Williams tribute anywhere in disney.
Wish they had Green Eggs and Ham Ride
Bring the JAWS ride back for the 50th Anniversary.
the best pre-shows were the ones for Forbidden Journey - where it's a loop that you walk through where the planners KNOW that the line will bog down in. it's also worth mentioning that slinkydog is a child's coaster pretending to be a grownup coaster (it's not very forceful but it has the setup like it's a big launch). wolfman is sorta the opposite where they took mach ride's xtreme spinner, kept the cars, removed the loops, but retained some of the tight turns - so it's more a grownup coaster tamed for kids
when might we see another overall park update?
Imma take my delorean right now and go in the future when the park will be finished. It's worth a plutonium charge 👍
The only thing i hope it's not too crazy because i get motion sickness very easily.
It looks extremely well executed, but I could care less about the Universal Monsters IPs.
The Burning Blade restaurant could be used for employed actors to go and eat on their lunch break but they'd have to actually be in a monster hunter costume and play the part.
I am SOOOO excited to enter this portal
About the only thing I'm bummed to hear is potentially no animatronics on the Wolfman coaster...that'd be a let down, albeit it makes sense. Outside of that, THIS LAND IS HYPE MODE 10000. Great Podcast, yall!!
Any idea on actual opening month?? Are hotels taking reservations yet?
Great show!!
yeah i was straight up sobbing in my wdw costume while watching the whole reveal trailer HAHAHAHA
I’ve also been on the dark universe train the whole time!!!!
I need to have another good look at the photo with all the monsters on because I can't see the mummy at all myself ?? I saw creature bottom left and phantom on the right but couldn't see the mummy
It’s like Where’s Waldo! He’s upside down so hard to spot. But he is shown in close up and rotated in the video during that part to make it more clear.
I’m saving my virginity so I can lose it in Darkmoore ❤️❤️❤️ Probably the gift shop
Genuinely hoping for some kind of Hugh Jackman Van Helsing rep, even if it’s merch or just a picture in a corner of a shop. I know it’s a goofy movie but I love it so much lol
Alicia, when you first started talking about the Monsters Unchained hybrid animatronics with digital projections, I was thinking about sort of a cross between the Shaman and the Sentry from Navi River Journey. Blurring the lines to bring a "monster movie" to life like never before. I'm most excited to see the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
While I love what I’m seeing, I really wish these guys would stop building lands with only two rides… Monsters definitely needs a third attraction and hopefully it comes shortly after… Same goes for Potter…
So regarding the "over 2 minutes" long coaster. In my head that'll only be possible if they send you round twice.
The monsters look great, but the 'modern' Dracula and lady Frankenstein look kinda out of place amoung the rest. I love that the gypsies are called mystics now, although I don't have a problem with the term gypsy.
Even Alicia's lack of prediction was an accurate prediction for Das stakehaus..... her mind is so powerful....
Recently found your page due to my excitement about the park, and this was the first time i listened to one of your podcasts. This was lots of fun and only built up my excitement even more. Keep up the great work!!!
That’s awesome! So glad you liked the show!
IP’s really handcuff creativity. This is excellent.
Could the low mysterty building in the Wizarding World Land be a train station?
It looks insane!!!
Ok, but Victor Frankenstein (book version) was never a doctor. Bro’s just a filthy drop out 😂
The "Ygor" spelling actually comes from the Bela Lugosi character in Son of Frankenstein/Ghost of Frankenstein (which also pre-dates the "Igor" character based on the 1931 film's "Fritz" that is pretty much seen as the go-to standard Frankenstein lab assistant now). Anyways, I've never been a huge theme park guy but I LOVE the Universal Monsters (and similar Gothic horror in general), and I am incredibly excited about this park. Would definitely love to visit Darkmoor when this opens.
Are you people real
We’re figments of your imagination
The van helsing vibes I get from the smoking well and that land makes my heart pitter patter.
So nuts universal has built an entire new park in 5 years *WITH* Covid. Meanwhile Disney is struggling to do re skins and clones in that amount of time 😂
The rumored black lagoon ride expansion could really bring back a type of jaws experience but way more modern and could really set this land over the top, even though it’s already my most anticipated
You all did fantastic. First time watcher/listener but know people who rave about you all. I'm concerned about the castle ride as well. I think it has potential to be the greatest Universal ride ever or an overhype mess. I'm pretty disappointed we don't have one sit down restaurant.
Glad to have you here! Thanks for commenting too! I wished Stakehaus was sitting down too, but at least it’s the kind where they bring the food out to you, sooo, halfway there?
I listen regularly to Danny Elfman's scores for Alice in Wonderland and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, so I'm thrilled to hear that Dark Universe will be channeling that same kind of energy. 😊
We better end up falling from the central tower for the climax of Monsters Unchained! This is a universal ride, after all. You always gotta fall from a tall place 😅
Fire, falls, and water sprays!
IM TOO EXCITED
Random things in the land should just move on their own... the invisible man is lurking around. Would be cool if they did something like that, wouldn't cost much to do and it would make the experience better.
He’s EVERYWHERE
I wish they could make it seem a small band of musicians were creating the music from another room or building rather than overwhelming big orchestra sound. They could do more with sound other than music.Rustling leaves, wind. even a wolf howl. I love Elfman but a gorgeous orchestra sound makes me feel I'm in a theme park not a spooky village.
static animatronic, come on Universal, why? really expensive to build a moving one?
Alicia, pick my lotto numbers too lol! You know all the secrets!
My powers only work on new theme park additions I’m afraid
Can you elaborate on what is meant by "bats flying through the vehicle"? How would we feel that and how would that even look?
I’m honestly not sure, but they’ve used tinny air hoses to simulate spiders or rat tails on rides before, so maybe tiny air blasts from multiple spots on the vehicles?
Do u think they will add any extra bits of theming to the lands now they are taking shape and finalising them?
This reminds me that in a few months Monster Mash cereal will be available again. I hope. I wonder if Ian ate Frankenberry or Boo berry.
I was hoping they’d play music from the classic films around the land Elfman’s music is hella generic nowadays.
When does Tom Cruise show up?
Plz the way you said “and then we’ll have a real SPLASH” sent me into orbit, do not ask me why or how😂
I’m beyond excited for this land!!!I thought they named her Victoria as a play on Victor and his creator, Mary Shelly.
Just noticed the severed arm on the floor of the guild of mystics artwork.
