I saw this film in 2013 with my brother Richard, the night before my brother John died. In 2022 Richard died. I am in an agony of grief for my 2 brothers. I hate my life and wish l could die to be with my 2 brothers.

they couldn't actually film this in Philadelphia because the real Philly is way less organized and filled with more actual zombies than this scene. It would have been chaos.

A bit more realistic with this scene and this would be a 10/10. Only a 9/10 imo because of that but I guess you can’t have the main characters dying from a car accident off the rip. BUT the lack of reaction after the biker cop gets obliterated right next to them took my attention away for a moment. It is what it is though. I would love a new zombie apocalypse movie to happen including the initial breakout scene (in a city because that’s where it would happen in such rapidity). But with higher quality visuals and a unique story line we could have the BEST zombie apocalypse film.

What I liked about this is that the infected behave as something taken over by a virus that is trying to propagate as viruses do. They don't stick around and eat the victims like in true horror films. They bite, and move on, bite, move on. It's behaving like a real infection, not some paranormal "dead return from Hell," type thing.

Something that I think the movie does right is making the zombies actually terrifying. Mindless monsters that charge head first towards their prey, ravenously destroying anything that stands between them and their victims.

I love how this scene builds. The family are not main characters throwing themselves into middle of action, but survivors scrambling as best they can to get out of a sudden, overwhelming, terrifying event. Also really like how they discover the infection rate by accident, just because someone stepped on a children’s toy. Gerry didn’t just instinctively know it or somehow remember to time it in full panic mode.
