@@AlasBabylon1 That's a good thing. I hate books written by academics that try to impress their peers with words nobody actually uses in life. A good writer should be accessible enough for simple minds, but contain deeper meaning for those willing to see it.

A cruel joke played upon humanity, perhaps. To go through life thinking the image is reality. When the image and reality merge, the mirror vanishes. A doorway opens. Join the rest that are there already.

I've often stared and stared at myself in the mirror, and after many minutes of staring I have seen different faces stare back at me. I have quite literally watched my face change. Recently, I've seen an older woman staring back at me, each time her eyes look wiser...and happier. ❤ Could this be the new me?

Sure enough he was sittin on my porch waiting to tell me he sat on the plane with a girl that looked talked and acted just like me. I remember that old saying, I'll give you something to cry about and yes they did and we towed the line. I wish I would have realized that going to work wasn’t the most important thing in life 20 years ago. Chasing that next thing that I really didn’t need, and only thought I wanted because of tricky marketing. Simpler life now, trying to be more like Diogenes, hanging out with my dog. I still go to work to earn a living, but I definitely put a cap on it. Reminds me of an old Billy Ray Cyrus song, “Busy Man”. In it, the question is asked, “have you ever seen a headstone with these words “if only I had spent more time at work”?”.

I refuse to own a so called smart phone. Everywhere I go there are people oblivious to their surroundings. They are walking around like zombies, never stopping to appreciate a sunset or a lovely flower garden. I have no need to carry the internet around everywhere. No one can even be bothered to chat or say hello to each other these days. We have been propagandized to believe we can't exist without being plugged into our devices. When I tell people I don't own a smart phone, they look at me like I'm from Mars. Good video Melanie.

Love the list! So many techniques that I agree completely with. A few that I've found really help me: 1. Fresh air. I spend 99% of the day outside unless it's raining. Even when it rains or at night while sleeping, I keep the windows/screen doors open unless trying to retain heat in winter. Strangely enough, it was a book titled Fresh-Air Poultry Houses by Prince T. Woods that made me realize the value of fresh air. 2. Reading physical books. Provides the mind with an entertaining escape from digital screens, mainstream media indoctrination and social media drama. "The man who doesn't read has no advantage over the man who can't read." - Mark Twain 3. Observing weather, plants and animals out in nature. Nothing else gives me a greater connection to the cosmic universe around me than watching life cycles in action. I've never felt I needed religion in my life because being in nature provides me with all of the spiritual experiences I need.

  • @AlasBabylon1

We do have power over our own thoughts, but not those of others who have the wherewithal to turn their thoughts into reality.
