16:25 - *Daniel* (not "David") Lee Young was a paranoid schizophrenic and convicted burglar, who had delusions of being owed billions of dollars for songs he believed he'd written for Madonna, Prince, and other big stars. He was convicted of 1 count of first degree murder for the pedestrian he killed, and 48 counts of attempted murder for the victims who survived, despite life-altering injuries, including amputations and paralysis. His insanity defence was rejected by the jury, though he was under a psychiatrist's care, because his crime was so abhorrent that he had to be found guilty. He was sentenced to 106 years & 4 months to life.

Thanks for this beautiful upload. Great to see the lovely Debbie Reynolds unite with her Singing in the rain co-star, Donald O'Connor. Debbie was a star who looked like she would never age and, even at 84, just before she passed away in 2016, she looked fantastic. Donald, back in the 50's always carried that little-boy look. But, age has certainly caught up with him in this video and those tell-tale signs are patently visible in and around his eyes. Still, it's always a tremendous pleasure to see any video that features our dear Debbie, who was and will always be considered as "Hollywood Royalty"!

The lengths I'd go to in order to watch this show back between '86 to '88 was ridiculous. My 12 to 14 year old iterations had to make strategic plans to stay up and quietly and covertly tape Dancin to the Hits without my insanely strict Jehovah's Witness mom getting wise to what I was doing. Ye gods did I have a thing for the dancer named Cheryl Yamaguchi, the other ladies were great but Cheryl..hoo boy. Dancin to the Hits was not an easy show to catch due to it's irregular airings and crappy time slot, it always played at 2:30am on Saturdays I believe. And now here I am as an old watching Dancing to the Hits in the wee hours on a device that would have seemed like something out of Star Wars to my younger self. Cheryl Yamaguchi has got to be in her mid 50s or early 60s...that woman has dropped off the map. Anyway, thanks for posting this video.

Interesting to see Mel come out with his cane, which he usually tried to avoid letting people see on television. In an appearance with Letterman several years later, he was already seated when Dave introduced him so that he wouldn’t have to walk out with his cane on camera.
