His tone sucks and there's no melody behind what he plays Just because he has skills which are above average, doesn't make it sound any less noodly and generally void of context that is to say tension and release.I.E It all sounds the same Satch,Vai,Hammett and however many other shredder greats [Both famous or not] didn't loose a wink of sleep over his talent

I grew up with Marty in Laurel md.....watched him play literally in a wooden barn with the group deuce..........it was an incredible experience watching him play at 14 years old to 18

It's hard to watch these clips and not want to listen to the songs in their entirety and that's a real credit to Marty Friedman because it makes clear the fact that he didn't just throw a bunch of notes into an area of a song but instead he actually sat down and figured out, "What sounds good here?"

Where were poor guitarists like Hammett? Number 1 ( albeit a popularity contest ) now where were mustaine and Friedman ? Top two / three - that doesn’t show an underrated notion does it !
