Even most of the oil in the Niger Delta belongs to the multinational corporations because they invested billions to extract it. They take the larger share. Gold on the other hand is easily accessible without high investment. The private miners operate just like your multinational corporations.

Crude Oil wells are thousands of feet deep underground. Millions of USD are required to drill crude oil wells unlike gold, one person could digg out of the ground within minutes or hour with cheap metal director.

I really appreciate the content but I don’t appreciate how the content creator tried his best to inject sentiment into the content. The miners mentioned in the video how they follow due process to acquire approvals and how they pay for tax to government. Then you are comparing it with crude oil extraction which is more sophisticated and has more environmental repercussion if not done professionally.

Robbing the oil producing areas will never bring peace. There must be justice for oil producing states. We need a president with a sense of decency and courage allow the oil producing states to profit from their resources like the gold producing states.

Segilola is not owned by the Nigerian government; it is owned by Thor Explorations Ltd., a Canadian mineral exploration company. The Segilola plant was constructed by NORINCO, a Chinese company, under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract. Regarding the gold trade, the information provided to you lacked clarity. There is a distinction between processing and refining gold. They possess gold dust, which is typically processed into what is known as gold doré. Gold doré is a semi-processed form of gold that can be found as bars, coins, plates, or pellets. Gold dust contains numerous impurities, making it less expensive. Doré, on the other hand, has some impurities removed, with its purity generally ranging from 85% to 95%, and sometimes higher. Refining further purifies the gold to create bullion bars and coins with a purity of 99.5% or higher. The prices they quoted are unusually high, suggesting that they may not be the actual miners but intermediaries, or they may be attempting to deceive you. Regarding land acquisition for gold exploration, they provided false information. The Ministry of Mines operates an agency called the Mining Cadastre Office, which issues mineral titles. A reconnaissance permit allows one to survey potential gold sites across Nigeria. After identifying a promising site through research, an exploration license grants exclusive rights to explore that specific area. If commercial quantities of gold are found, a Mining Lease is required for exclusive mining rights on that land. It is important to note that gold exploration involves more than just digging; it requires comprehensive desktop studies and analysis of geological data, such as aeromagnetic surveys and other GIS data. Artisanal miners, however, often engage in unprofessional and improper mining practices, causing significant damage to the land and the country.

How come Nigerians were/are unaware of this project? How are the local communities benefitting from the project. Why always foreign companies? Why were local investors/ companies not first engaged? The situation whereby Nigerians are deemed illegal miners and foreigners get mining rights should be discouraged. We need more transparency on our mineral resources.
