Hi and welcome to my channel. I hope to share some of my 40+ years of experience in the building trades along with some product reviews and projects in the shop. I also hope to include some footage of racing my sailboat, as well as other things I find interesting. If there's things that you have questions about please let me know.

Donavan, I’ve been looking at this idea for a long while. One idea is to take a 2x4 and drill a series of holes along the center line of the face, next you rip along the center. You are left with two of those black thingamajigies as long as you want.
Just bought an old w7pf, was looking for videos like this prior to using it. Excellent job architecturally on the home
*Welcome back... you have been missed. 🙂 Nice looking wheels you have now got.... plus having better mirrors help heaps when towing your trailer of tools etc 🙂nz*
had a contractor call me 2 days ago. he needed 6 ft of chair rail that he can't get anywhere. I had to explain to him that I would have to have custom knives made @ about $200-$300 for the knives and an hour of shop time for $150. on top of that it would be a 2 week turnaround to get the knives. I think he quickly realized that he could replace all the chair rail in the room cheaper than making a 6ft custom piece.
Well upgrades with extrusion fence. That was a very good [trash treasure] find with the bearing rollers. I know totally and exactly how you felt when you dismantled it at light speed your hands were in nut and bolt mode. Your head was in a surprise new , BRAIN STORMING DETAILED ANALYSIS EXPLOSION TO EXPLORE MAXIMUM POTENTIAL. For the unexpected benefit 😅😊😊😊😊 Great job and great run off table 👍 👏 😀 👌
Good info @ importance to pay attention to static charge buildup toward end of video. Thanks - I’ll be sure to review the more detailed info on the Oneida website to learn the finer details on how to NOT let static charge build up and thereby fry my tools.
Thank you for sharing. My husband was able to get this going very quickly. It would have taken so much longer without this video. Much appreciated!
Glad to hear thanks
Make sure to inspect your superstrut because some have burrs around the holes and would mar your panel.
We have a sawstop at the shop that does the same thing when it comes to the fence because it slides on rails on either side. Our fix is we get close to the measurement we want, lower the handle halfway, and tap the fence to where we want, then lower the handle all the way. What that does is it allows for the fence to square itself just enough that we can still tap the fence left and right to get our measurement exact
If you put wax on the super strut, glue won't stick to it. Thanks for sharing!
Wondering if these composite nails will work in a normal 18ga Brad nailing guns?? Which nail length work best without “blowing up”? Great info. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t think so I use 1” nails they work for both 1/2”and 3/4”:plywood
What is the height of the dust deputy with the hose on top?
Hi, Just wondering if you had any updates on this nailer?
Still using it and happy with it
@@donavanshomes Thanks!....I've been looking for a bit, didnt want to pay 360+ for some others...I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on this one.
Glad you got your triple Hybrid (haha) put together and seem very happy with it. I would like to have had your old grizzly because my craftsman direct drive 10” 2 HP just died on me after 30 years. My fault, I was feeding wood in from the back for a special cut. Go visit Matt and don’t forget the donuts! BTW, why did you get the guard and then the saw stop? Did you have a close call? I was doing dado’s a few years ago and got overconfident for a split second. Lost two fingers. Hope your business is going well !
I just want to upgrade the saw and have a little more safety, my grandfather was a carpenter most of his life and was very safety conscious. He lost a part of his thumb in his 60s . I will bring donuts next time I am at Matt’s
That must have been terrifying.
Part’s were
What cast iron router wing is that?
Yes
Thank you for the fast forwarding through the obvious bits sir. Excellent video as well.
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful, thank you!! The price has gone up but so has the Woodpeckers so I think I will pick up the Festool. Can't believe a Festool ANYTHING is cheaper than another brand, lol.
Glad to help!
Thanks for the tour! How wide is the aisle you ended up with? How deep is the storage you built out on each side? Looks like maybe around 24" on the passenger side given width of the kapex? Not sure on the driver's side. Trying to sort out if I need a 7' wide or if I can do 6' as well for better maneuverability. Would you still order the same size trailer if you could do it again? Thanks!
It is 6x10 I am happy with this size as it is only me I don’t remember the width but around 24” inches the walkway is a little wide the cabinets on the left side to get them in and out
@@donavanshomes Great to hear! Thanks for the response. Hope you're having a great week and looking forward to more videos!
That little tightening nut for the angle should be able to unscrew off and be replaced with a big handle for holding it as you cut?
Thank you for some great ideas. This is well thought out
You are so welcome!
👋🏻
I have the artisan and regret purchasing it. Not because of quality but for its price and similarities in other brands (like Husky) that do the same thing. The only thing that I’ve noticed of the belt is the quick release belt clip. It’s whatever. You can buy one and add it to your existing rig and it’s the same thing or don’t and you won’t feel the difference. Get a Husky or Dewalt and you won’t need to buy a $55 tape holder like diamondback’s that teeter totter with use. It’s expensive and gimmicky. Unnecessary. Purchase brand name tools instead of this purchase.
More information on the fence ? Thanks I’m sorry the router fence .
Can you make tongue and grove flooring with a William and Hussey? Thank you
Not really
Yep! Just set up my new G1023RLW and the right plate has precisely that same bow in it. Also, liftgate service is total BS. It's not legally delivered until the unit is actually on your property. I paid for it because I live in a remote town and didn't want any problems. Took 2 weeks from order to delivery.
What drum sander did you use?
Supermax 19 38
.I am quite envious of your setup..all bases are covered. I am purchasing a Grizzly GO941 and need to include the "bear crawl" mobile base..could you give me some insight as to how the install onto the cabinet went and if you're satisfied with it's functionality? Thanks in advance for your help
I have some like you have in the video, and I'm considering using them as posts for pergola or awning of house with deck, do you think they would make good structurel posts,
How do the knives locate? Did I miss that? Two bolts but no pins?
There’s a raised lip on the backside of the shaft that the knifes index against along with the bolt holes
So the bolts act as pins. That's interesting. I saw the back lip, but I'm surprised two bolts are able to keep the knives in the same location axially. If it works it works. @@donavanshomes
Great job Donovan. As I dip into CNC world as well as redo someone’s kitchen, I’d love to see a complete VCarve Pro playlist on all the different size cabinets as well as uppers, lowers and toe kicks on the CNC. Beats long process of manually doing it especially as a DIY’er and you can’t beat the exact measurements every time. Can’t wait for next VCarve Pro video.
Thanks
Was following along rather well until 16:22 when you entered 23.250 for the height but I was expecting you to enter 22.750, because at 12:20 you entered 21.995 (the chart has 21.955, I think that is just a typo) for the height. Not that I will ever do this, but just trying to understand the process.
I will look at this tomorrow and try and clarify it for you
After thinking about this overnight, I realized the reason for using the longer length is that these last two pieces go into the grooves on the side panels, right?
Looking great! I may have missed it but how far back are your toe kick side feet set back?
Generally about 3”
Awesome! Thank you,@@donavanshomes
Good video sir. I have the same clamps made with strut as well. How are you storing them? I made mine 39" long
Don’t have a set storage at this point yet
Definitely helpful. Appreciate you!
Glad it was helpful!
When you are doing th e layout and you finish a part or for that matter the entire section you are working on, is there a way to change the view to look at the parts in 3 D and rotated so we can visualize better. Hard to understand your dado and scribe lines drawn on a square and figure out what the part actually looks like. Thanks and end I enjoy what you are presenting.
Remember Emeril, BAM, we gotta kick it up a knoch. Its like your being tortured into making the video. Haha good luck 😎
what kind of drill are you using? I can't get my 20 volt dewalt to budge my 17' mako... works with the hand crank but that will wear you out on a hot day...
I use my 20 volt festool drill. Are you using on the high or low speed shaft?
Hey Donovan. Might need to look at your thumbnail. Just FYI. (Jan 8)
thanks
Can you tell us in the next videos which platform the software is suitable for? Vcarve is only for Windows and we don't work with this junk
I believe that most of cabinet software is going to be windows based there is probably some out there just not sure what they are.
Looking forward to more info on the V-carve.
Very cool. I have many years operating 2D and 3D CAD software and I just loved it. Nice job Donovan.
I don’t like sketchup I taught drafting using autodesk products. When building my kitchen cabinets I used a pencil and graph paper. I probably spent one solid day on 19 doors. Drawers 2 days and cabinets carcasses 3 days. No cnc just router table, table saw and kreg jig for face frames. Can’t afford a CNC
👋🏻
Thank you , just what I was looking for
I too am not a fan of Sketchup either. All l want is a simple Autocad piece of software l can use to design my projects. Looking forward to this series.
3d cad that I just found is Solvespace it's a nice constraint based cad
*Yay welcome back. 🙂 this will be a great series.... giving people options to chose from when it can be so overwhelming to work out what is best. Happy new year to you & your family and all the very best for 2024 🙂 nz*
I am freaking excited to learn anything you are willing to teach.
Glad to hear it!
This will be a great series. Most of us are bewildered by the variety of choices AND the various extensions. Mostly just want something comprehensive we can sent to something to a CNC and GO.
