    The idea that John sabotaged any of Paul's songs is laughable. Clearly, John was not on his game that day, nor was he a great bass player. (George was much better.) John hated Paul's "granny music", yet he performed masterfully on both rhythm guitar and lead on Honey Pie. Probably of all of Paul's songs, that would have been the song he would want to sabotage, if he was so inclined. Paul could have easily wiped the tape and rerecorded the bass if he thought John's playing detracted from TLAWR.

    one question: do I need to cut my nails short on the right hands ? I feel like they hit the string eatch time and it does not sound smooth …

  • @BecomeABassist
    @BecomeABassist4 күн бұрын

    Possibly @sabijea. If my nails get too long, I have the same problem. You could mess with the angle your fingers come into contact with the strings as well though if you don't want to cut your nails.

    I’ve always thought lots of their songs had a few isolated moments of off pitch or what not, either instrumentally or vocally. I always chalked it up to it being old music/poor recording quality.

    I've been playing bass (4, or 5 string) and singing lead, and backup for a very long time. Here's what works for me : * I'll learn to play the bass part. * I'll learn the basic lead vocal or backup vocal MELODY LINE - I DON'T bother learning off the lyric at first, just in case the song is dropped from the setlist. I think this allows me to just synchronize the musical notes, and not worry about trying to remember the words while playing. * To link the two can be easy if the bassline is straightforward, and keeps pumping in regular step with the rhythm. But it can be tough, too, if the bassline seems counter to the vocal melody. * The thing to motivate you - well it motivates me - is to remember that whatever the bass and vocals are for the song, no matter how tough it seems at first, it has already worked before, and therefore it can work for you. You just have to put in the effort. Easy songs I've done are like With Or Without You, Viva La Vida, where the bass rhythm is pretty constant throughout the song. Tough songs I've played are like Rio, Spirits In The Material World, Abracadabra. And many more, both easy and tough. I think if you keep at it long enough, you'll get it. Go slow at first and then try to speed up to the song's tempo. But when I work them out, they stay with me.

    It's like (to me), Paul plays a really low/bassy guitar, and fills space appropriately. Confidence probably helped, as well as being there, also artistic freedom. Not down playing writing or playing talent, just noting there are a LOT of variables.

    George resented Paul's contributions to his songs, but I think Paul added so much to them, whether it be the bass on Something or Think for Yourself, piano on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, or the solo on Taxman. Paul loved George like a little brother, and it is evident in his contributions to his songs. I understand that could be frustrating. It really resonated with me when I watched The Concert for George and heard Paul playing that piano part on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. While Clapton is great, ironically the piano makes the song.

    interesting information with going down 3 frets! still trying to crack code!! thanks! so, if im on the F major and i want to find the relative minor 3rd go down 3 frets... would be D Aeolian, E locrian, F ionian MAJ, MIN, DIM... etc!??? and is there a follow up to this vid/

  • @BecomeABassist
    @BecomeABassist17 күн бұрын

    That's exactly correct @michaelroberts5801. Then the remaining modes basing everything from D Aeolian would be D Aeolian, E Locrian, F Ionian, G Dorian, A Phrygian, Bb Lydian and C Mixolydian. There isn't a 'follow up' to this lesson per se because this lesson actually *_is_* a follow up to my previous modes videos, which you can find here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eHx20rWeXcybl7Q.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4anyNCMnKbPpbA.html
