Walking out of empire road and seeing that huge pub on a friday night shame it fell into the state towards the end Funny how all of our pub culture is now just food.

Hi K evvy. I have been looking for so long for footage or pics of the large coop chimney that was on the corner of Glenfield Rd. I went to Christ the King school and remember always having it within eye shot. I would love to see some footage of it exists

When I was four I lived opposite the Cricketers pub, then both the “ slum” terraced houses & eventually St Leonard’s church ( where my parents were married) all demolished. Nearby the Frears Nabisco factory now partially replaced by a car show room ,Aldi & car park

Great stuff. I was born in Countesthorpe, 1964 & have lived in Leicester all my life. The old "Castle Courts"...Wow! - I had to spend a few quid in there for my teenage motoring offences! - I also recall taking a young lady out to the ABC cinema for our first date, circa 1980..?? - We went to see the Elephant Man, not realising at the time, that we were literally half a mile away from where it all happened!

Amazing lady & so wonderful this tradition continues. I visited my Uncles grave in Oosterbeek with my grandmother when I was 15 (almost 50 years ago). I will never, ever forget the respect she was shown and the way she was treated by the Dutch people when they knew her son had laid down his life for them.
