Red Dead 1 re-defined and opened up the portrayal of the Wild West better than any movie could. A lot of people think it was like every Eastwood/John Wayne movie but it was too dark for them

I would argue that the spaghetti western genre wasn't really romanticising the old west either. The spaghetti western genre started with the dollars films, and Sergio Leone has always been very upfront that those films were meant as a critique of the classic westerns, which were generally very romanticised and usually had unambiguously good, honorable heroes who took down bad guys. That's why, not only are the dollars films much more gritty, but the man with no name protagonist is intentionally morally flawed. He's manipulative, backstabbing, ruthless, self serving and motivated almost entirely by greed (every film his ultimate goal is to get some kind of financial reward). He's only a hero in the sense that he's better than the people he kills, but that's not a high bar. That's not a criticism of the dollars films btw, I love them, and the lack of romanticisation and morally flawed protagonists are a big part of why I think they're so brillant

I just wanna say that I enjoy watching your content, but I wish you dived into the AC series. I think you should look into AC3 since there's a lot of signifigance and redeeming qualities about it regarding gameplay and storytelling that I don't think anyone has ever really addressed on YT. Either way, keep up the good work and I'm excited to see the next vid!

Democracy is the core of white supremacy and continues to hold and maintain those values created from white supremacy. An example is the oppression and control of Indigenous lands and resources.

I wish more people understood Jack Marston's tragedy. Too many seem to think he rides off into the sunset, ignoring the recurring themes of both games. The Tragedy is that though John earned his redemption, he could not save his son, much like what Arthur tried to do for John. Jack has blood on his hands now, he has lost his innocence. Just as John killed Micah, Jack couldn't let go of revenge. Revenge at the highest price.

The Pacific Theater was not given this much of a story compared to the European, and was more so to show-off the gameplay; granted there was some in the European too. One thing though that ties this story up, is the ending of the campaign where it is said that war in the West, must be fought in the East. There's triumphant music with the footage of the Enola Gay, but cuts to black with no music; as the bombings on Japan are seen. It then cuts to MacArthur's speech of how this war will hopefully shape no more destruction after. It cuts to two tag lines, with two loud bell tolls accompanying that in paraphrase, mention how many lives were lost in World War 2, and how it's been the deadliest conflict since. The only thing missing, should have been a world map as a background, as it played...

Anyone here think when you first see reznov again and when he asks you you kill ten Germans that are bleeding out think that killing them is actually an act of mercy personally I do so when I play Chernov will say I don’t understand him because chernov doesn’t see killing the Germans bleeding out is mercy
