u didnt put a screenshot of the weather
Ace video. Removed any headache and top piece of kit to boot. Nice skills.
Magnetic spirit level on the weight slide rail, handy for strainers and gate posts
That Manitou sounds like my norcar mini loader
It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! If that tractor could speak it would say " I'm tired Boss!😳 Actually for that many hours it sounds good 👍
A very good Thursday morning to you all from Wellington Somerset
A lot of post banging going on...😅 Here in the States we call them post pounders.
Great job. I would make a proper guard for it. The return for weight might need it's own pipe direct to the axle to keep it moving fast.
Thanks Dave. We did discuss this afterwards, that we may need to run a pipe from the spare port into the return to allow quick enough flow.
Hi James + Rich, Just the job should make life easy for you and Max fitting in the posts around the farm, great video Take care
Thanks Shaun 👍🏼
Any parts for them are still available as they are now made on exmoor by a different company have most parts in stock. As I would recommend a striker plate if operating from the side
Funnily enough Martyn text me last night to say the same, I didn’t realise they were still being made. Thanks mate 👍🏼
I had a quantock pd5 years ago, well built and ok for a small holder. If fencing regular side shift and hydraulic leg are must haves and depending on ground a rock spike.
Ideal! Side shift would be a massive benefit. It will be alright for what we do hopefully 👍🏼
Hi James I would put it on front linkage as we do u have more control even max could drive it forward so u can do the post bumper then u can have a link Boxford all ur mertireals ext then mate
We did think that, but at the moment I don’t have any spools up the front.
Safety is king mate good job.
Thanks mate 👍🏼
Clapper plate we would be lost with out it. I would add high stick, split level, guess gun, monkey strainers holder/ rack. Am going to add a another brackets on the rack for a chain saw and my home made squre post key in the winter. I basically want everything to hand instead of keep wishing it was there you 4000m away. This is what I do all day every day so maybe over kill but I know you like making stuff.
Yeah that’s very true! I did look at an after market post plate but it was £2300 so might see if I can get a Quantock one or make one, will see how we get on.
@@finditfixitfarmit strong money that. Everything is getting redicules in prise
if there all double acting valves in the block then it will pump to a dead end when you got to make the banger ram work it wont free flow he return oil back quick enough to make it work as it should
We did discuss this afterwards so hopefully by putting in a return on the spare port and T it into the return should overcome this.
Ideally should have bought a 3xda and 1xsa block because now when you lower the weight the relief valve will work as oil will be pressurising against your blanker
We did think this after, hopefully be able to run a pipe from that blank and T into the return pipe to allow the return pressure to flow back.
buy an front end loader for your farm
I would like a front loader, but we have the Manitou so not a massive need for it.
You could do exactly what you said might be better on the front linkage more movable around hedge and then if you want you can tow a trailer on the back with all your fencing stuff
This is very true, will need to run hydraulic pipe to the front as no spools up there at the mo.
Ah but you put your quick fencer on the front for wire dispensing (which you haven't got yet) other makes available
@@kevinroberts2014 haha
Hi James , that’s a nice addition looks a bit tighter than my old parmiter banger although I tend to use my old 814 swing shovel to push the posts in it copes with most posts unless the ground is hard then I have to use the parmiter and spend about half an hour banging in strainers 👍
I used parameter years ago, so I feel your pain, hopefully this does what we need it to do.
I've driven a telegraph pole in for a gate post /strainer with no point on it with my Wrag, didn't believe it till I tried it
@@kevinroberts2014 yes my old parmiter will but it’s a slow old job much better if you cut a nice sharp point on them first even when they are so called pointed I still cut the point longer and sharper drive a bar down and then strainers and gate posts go in a bit better 👍
Came across your video on the auction on Dartmoor a few days ago, realized after a couple minutes of watching my son and I had been there too! I recall watching the small bale wrapper being sold and watching you bid on it. We have just baled about 1200 small bales of hay with our Same 90 and NH 376. Nice to see some smaller kit working the land👍
Haha, that’s awesome! Similar outfit then! Thanks mate 👍🏼
Once again James loved it , keep them coming 😊😊😊
Thank you Lee 👍🏼
👍👌 video paused.... post banger... I'm already not happy that you got Ur self a lovely banger for a great price.... not that I know yet the price. 👍
Hahaha, thanks Tim 😂👍🏼
You’ve been watching Mr Hewes😎
I do watch Mr Hewes. What did I say though did I quote him? 😂
@@finditfixitfarmit It was the crossed arms stop signal you did ,Jack uses it on their channel moving tanks I thought you were having the banters😁
@@oakashthorn5714 oh hahaha, that’s where I’ve seen it! I said to Rich after that I had seen it on KZread somewhere lol. Thanks mate 👍🏼
Another brilliant piece of kit , useful equipment you've bought. Great video as usual. 👌👍
Thank you Philip 👍🏼
Great vid i would just move the spool block to other side from where it is situated in stead of where your moving it to you would be well out tge way of any danger .
Yeah I see your point, but need to be able to reach it and the post at the same time 👍🏼
Nice find at that price 👌needs a cup holder 😂 and chain saw/nailer mount
Defo needs a cup holder 😂
Nice find at that price 👌needs a cup holder 😂 and chain saw/nailer mount
Some good safety modifications James, looking forward to seeing it working 👍
Me too Nev haha, thanks mate 👍🏼
I have a Quantock, well made thing. We altered ours too. Is the weight definitely 300kg? Ours has 5 sections and is 150kg.
Might not be, I was only guessing. Could be 200kg then.
You should get a hydulic top link for the same you can adjust the angle of your impalements form the cab it would be a great upgrade for the same 🤔😂
Yeah we will put a top link on the banger, but not full time on the tractor. Maybe in the future 👍🏼
And Lubricate the lower link adjusters on the Same for levelling up on slopes
Great video as usual I know this isn't machinery nation but have you had any experience with Avant mini loader?
Hi Ben, I’ve only driven one once, hopefully we will have one on our stand at Groundsfest 👍🏼
Hi James, very positive move to relocate the spoil block. . Can I suggest at the side you fit an emergency engine stop push. . This would cut the engine, cut the pump. . Much safer 🤔
That’s a great idea Peter, I will look into it 👍🏼
Id have your levers the opposite way round with weight lever nearest to you. And have that sticking upwards and the others sticking outwards. Lot more easier to use with ur finger tips. Also have them it the order you would use them in. Cheers happy banging 😂
Good shout mate! 👍🏼
Put a post plate on it so the plate rests on the post and the weight lands on it. Stops the post splitting and you can also manipulate the post with by moving post knocker
Yeah, I’m tempted and will defo look into it. I will get all the hydraulics working properly first and then go from there.
This and your new position for spool block will be similar to my Wrag post driver, strange setup for the original hydraulics
Keep the guard. Posts can split when you hit them.
Very true, but makes them more dangerous leaning around them.
@@finditfixitfarmit You can see through it, why do you need to lean around it? If you remove the guard you are going to have to wear full face and neck protection whilst using it, or keep the controls well away from the strike point.
Our post banger also has a mast tilt left and right so as you look at the back of tractor it tilsts left and right. We dont use the post holder they are rubbish
Interesting, thanks 👍🏼
Hi James Nice post banger interested to see the modifications we have the old parmiter banger just need to trust the tractor driver 😀😀🤞🤞Thanks again
Haha, been there and never again lol. Thanks Darran
Interesting project will be a lot safer to use when finished
Thanks Glyn 👍🏼
Thanks again
Maybe consider a chainsaw operation course
Great job team, and strong yield. Looking forward to the fencing videos.
Hi thanks for the instruction but would you know why the self propel won’t work from unboxing ? Is there something I have to do to initiate the drive ? Thanks
That Manitou is just the job for lifting small bales, amazing manouverability!
i always start rowing up on the outside ......do 2/3 rows around the headland then up and down with the straightest hedge but the secret is to turn around each time on what you haven't rowed up much the same as if you were ploughing with a reversible plough
Thats just the air breather James , do it good to have a run .
Yeah. I might get her out on the topper in the rushes 😂😂
Well done it normally for Ford to do that we run all Ford and they all breathe a bit and smoke a bit no actually a lot if you turn the pump 😜 give here some hard would like rotorvator or dung spreader and she will be a lot better
Yeah she will be alright. Just haven’t seen her do it that bad before. Thanks for the reassurance mate 👍🏼
@@finditfixitfarmit that okay 👌
Love proper old school bailing
Tiss proper 👍🏼
i can only imagine how quickly Max finished up at school on baler day..Glad you waited on him ..Happy baling balers🤠😎🤠
Oh he was back in a flash haha
325 bales. Looks fair ground.
Closer than me 😂😂
Brilliant job guys, the baler ran so well. And the hay looked perfect 👌 👍
Thank you Philip. It all went pretty good to be fair 👍🏼
