Why do I do this to myself? I should have learnt by now!

We bought a Kubota L4200 from an auction, but I think I paid too much this time. Big Fail. But we will have to see what happens at Auction in a few week to see if we won or lost. #tractor #auction #farmequipment #farmauction #buyingandselling #makingmoney #profit #profitandloss

I do a bit dealing. It’s a tad OTT but not bad, it’s mechanically sound. Hours are not too bad. I would be advertising that tractor for around £6600 after some minor repairs to the bonnet etc.

I did a quick search for this model in Australia , machinery sites , one was sold at $12,950 + GST which is 10% , 3430 hours , a/c cab , another was asking $16,000 GST inclusive , rops only no cab , 2875 hours . For reference your £5000 is $9500 AUD . I think that would sell easily with a bit of profit if it were here in the antipodes

Hi James + Rich, Looking good the Kubota a spit and a bit of polish good as new ,just a few little jobs like the head light some thing to do with that lose wire just need a few connecting blocks that will sort it. Lucky pulling that nail out just stuck in the tread, that happened to me 2 years ago in my Avensis went to my car saw a screw in the tread near the side wall drove it carefully to the tyre place about 200 meters from my place thinking the worse the fitter looked at it and I thought here we go got a screwdriver and it came off the tyre was fine it was just the head of a snapped screw and 2mm wedged in the tread, no puncher and no damage, that was the cheapest tyre repair I ever had ,Phewww!! he said no damage no charge. I think you will get your money back, I would try £5250 and if you knock £200 of the price you broke evens, it's worth a go. As always a great video catch you soon Take care

The true price of anything at auction is the bid after the third bidder drops out. After that it's only you and the other bidder to push the price up, and if you weren't there, the other bidder would have bought it at that price.

Marteye really does need upgrading, you know if you can look at the prices items sold for? Web version doesnt seem to show sold prices. Ever go to Hussies in Exeter way? BTW what is the height of the Kubota to the roof as I wouldnt mind a cabbed Kubota and could put it under my car port i haven't built yet😂

I bought a 4200 at the end of 2019, no cab, had Kubota front loader, Bradco backhoe (less than 40 hrs on it) a little over 1000 hours and paid 3x as much! I guess I got hosed but I do love the tractor and don't put many hours on it, It came with an extra set of lawn tires front and back.....I should try and sell those since I will never use them. Here in USA what do you think I can get for mounted tires/rims?

Well you paid too high a price for it. However, if you bought it with a view to putting it to work, for example, as a scraper tractor on a dairy farm then you would get money back on it because it is earning its keep. Buying it to sell on and at auction, £3,000-£3500 tops. The problem with a tracto like that is size. Too small for a lot of jobs, too old and too big for some jobs. Where are a dairy farmer might have a budget of £5k to buy a scraper tractor then that is ideal. It has a cab, get all the lights working, make sure the brakes and mehanicals are fine and stick it in the Farmers Guardian or a local farmers auction cleaned and ready for work and away it goes. It would then take a valuable classic like a Fergy 135 or Ford 4000 off scraping slurry and into restoration whilst the Kubota with a cab and hopefully a working heater scrapes the rest of its life away!
